  • powerful
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
At 10 amps this little saw has a lot of power, it took me about an hour just to set up but once set up is all good. Overall, is a powerful saw that can cut through metal with ease. it comes with a general saw blade that cuts wood, plastic and soft metal. I decided to buy an extra saw blade that is specifically for metal use. That way the saw blade will last longer. i was surprised to see package comes with some spare safety glasses, as well as foam ear plugs as the machine is quite loud while in use. Safety Glasses and ear plugs was a good attention to detail. Overall this is a great little machine, however when using most important is you secure whatever you are cutting well, from the front end and the back end, because if not the item you are cutting can fly out. It happened to me, lesson learned. It performs nice straight cuts, so I'm happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Cuts like butter.
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
I’ve used this to cut 2” mild steel tube and it literally drops through like a hot knife in butter. No sparks, dust, or smoke…major improvement over the abrasive blade chop saws.

  • to make 45 angle cuts it is a hassle as you have to unbolt the fence. and move to the front.
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
I like it overall, cuts beautifully, the only issue is that you have to move the fence in order to make 45 degree cuts, on this particular one I have one item missing the handle for the wheel press and when trying to replace the blade the arbor is bigger so you must buy the exact blade which there are not many available also I notice that the bolt was/is broken. another issue, the arbor locks well to loosen the blade but to tighten is not locking how it's supposed to. Other than that, is worth it. ... show more

  • Just like the original
Style: 20-Tooth Pattern Name: Blade
Works as expected. Direct replacement for my rage saw. First cuts on 1” square steel. Other cuts on 3/16 steel and 1 5/8 round tube steel. I hook my shop vac to the saw but it still make quite a lot of metal chips to clean up. Definitely will buy again

  • Cheap Chop Chow. Terrible construction quality. 5 deg accuracy.
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
The materials and design on this cheap chop chow are weak. Right out of the box the arbor hex screw stripped. Never seen a hex screw head strip at all, so this was surprising. Replaced it with another M6 hex-screw, which worked well. The blade cover holes are out of place, randomly by 1mm in any direction, so it is a bit difficult to force the cover back on the saw. There goes your "High quality construction". The vise is just terrible; made of folded/pressed sheet of metal; and obviously with no accuracy guarantees. The saw blade is not properly square to the table. If you put pressure to it goes several degrees out of wack. The worked metal piece moves around in the vise because there is no proper contact and the vise is not securing the metal piece correctly. This results in cuts that ragged and slanted, even if you use an engineering square to reposition and tune all of the Cheep Chop Chow. When they write 0.5 deg accuracy, that might have been an honest marketing mistake. The accuracy on my several test chops was about 5 deg - horizontally and vertically. There is an "exhaust" port at the back, but it does absolutely nothing and all the dust and shavings fly all around. Another marketing lie. Summary. If you use it for some structurally unimportant and hidden planks of wood, it maybe your choice over a table saw. On the other hand, you would do comparably well with a hand saw (or an axe). If you bought it to cut aluminum extrusions, just return it, before even unpacking. Do NOT waste ANY of your time on this Cheep Chop Chow. Unless? Unless... you want to spend your construction project in RAGE! ... show more

  • Much nicer than an abrasive saw, but died after 3 months.
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
Let's be clear: this is what I'd call a "cheap tool." It's build quality matches that of the better Harbor Freight power tools. When I bought it, it was the same price as the HFT equivalent, but Evolution has a pretty good reputation, so I took a chance. I was *very* surprised when it died after 3 months of moderate (< 2 hours/ week) use. For the time that it worked, it was pretty good. Far fewer sparks than an abrasive saw, and it cut faster and cleaner with a lot less heat. This is the primary reason I bought it, and I admit it delivered on that score. Accuracy is another matter. The base is made of thin sheet metal (about 1/16"), and flexes badly under the weight of the workpiece. There is no reinforcement underneath to keep the platform flat on either side of the blade opening. This leads to crooked cuts, or cuts that start straight but become crooked as the workpiece shifts. This wasn't too big a deal for me, since I usually oversize my cuts and then dress them to size on the bench grinder before welding, but that's not practical for every situation. A few days ago, I was cutting some tube stock and the thing began to bog down, with a lot of sparks and a bad burning smell coming from the motor. I tried replacing the brushes, but that didn't seem to help anything. Now I need to send it back, to hopefully be repaired under warranty. Not an ideal situation. This was my first Evolution product. I'll wait and see how they handle the warranty repair before I decide whether or not to purchase from them again, but it's not a great first impression. UPDATE: Evolution sent me a replacement that is still working six months later, so maybe I got a dud the first time. That said, it's still a cheap tool. ... show more
