  • Great saw blade
Style: 20-Tooth Pattern Name: Blade
Sharp and quality made

  • powerful
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
At 10 amps this little saw has a lot of power, it took me about an hour just to set up but once set up is all good. Overall, is a powerful saw that can cut through metal with ease. it comes with a general saw blade that cuts wood, plastic and soft metal. I decided to buy an extra saw blade that is specifically for metal use. That way the saw blade will last longer. i was surprised to see package comes with some spare safety glasses, as well as foam ear plugs as the machine is quite loud while in use. Safety Glasses and ear plugs was a good attention to detail. Overall this is a great little machine, however when using most important is you secure whatever you are cutting well, from the front end and the back end, because if not the item you are cutting can fly out. It happened to me, lesson learned. It performs nice straight cuts, so I'm happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Good but weird trigger placement
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
Brought this to cut timber and artificial decking materials. It performed well, nice sharp blade, accurate cuts, no wobble or wandering. My only issue is the weird placement of the trigger safety. The blade is on the right, the cut channel is on the right, the motor, handle and trigger on the left and the safety push button is on the left of the handle. Situated for depression by your thumb... So if you use your right hand, index finger on the trigger and thumb on the safety, you can't hold the off cut when you cut! But if you use your left hand, leaving right hand to steady and hold the off cut, your thumb is on the wrong side of the handle to depress the safety! You have to use your pinky finger on the safety to work it and have your right hand free to use. Took for or five cuts to get it figured out, but got used to it. Safety should be on the right for your left thumb to press. So good value saw - silly trigger design! - but works when you adapt. ... show more

  • Cuts like butter.
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
I’ve used this to cut 2” mild steel tube and it literally drops through like a hot knife in butter. No sparks, dust, or smoke…major improvement over the abrasive blade chop saws.

  • The more I use it, the less I like it. A complete waste of money if you need precise cuts.
Style: RAGE4 + Multi-Purpose Blade Pattern Name: Chop Saw
New revision after roughly 2 1/2 years of owning this saw: The title of my review, "The more I use it, the less I like it", is absolutely true. I have come to really dislike this saw, primarily for it's inability to make anything resembling a precise cut, but also for the limited cutting capacity. The latter is my own fault, as I simply should have bought a saw with a larger blade. But the former is completely the fault of the saw itself and the thin, cheap, flimsy, pressed steel base of it. The base is so thin and cheaply made that it is actually somewhat flexible - not a big advantage when one wants precise cuts. The material clamping mechanism is just as bad, if not worse. Overall, the saw is okay if all you want is to turn one piece of small angle iron into two pieces. But if you need anything even approaching a square cut or repeatable angle you're out of luck. This saw isn't going to do it. Now, after 2 1/2 years of light use, I actually hate this thing and wish I had never wasted my money on it. ******************* This is a revised review after roughly a year of owning this saw. My Rage4 saw died after 4 months of very light use. Interestingly, I read a post by another reviewer whose saw apparently died in the exact way mine did, although his only made it 3 months. I was cutting a piece of 1.75", 1/8" wall mild steel square tubing and as the cut was nearly finished the saw bogged and then died completely. As it did I saw a bit of smoke come from the motor. I initially thought I had popped a breaker, but checked the box and all breakers were fine. Tried to start the saw again and got only a quick "POP" and a spark and now it looks DOA. When I called Evolution to see how good (or worthless) their 3 year warranty is I initially had problems getting through as it turned out that the phone number on the saw label was the wrong one. After digging up the correct customer service phone number, all went smoothly. They had me send my saw for evaluation and they shipped a new replacement very quickly, which I appreciated. Initially I liked this saw. It cuts much faster and cleaner than the 14" Milwaukee abrasive chop saw that I've owned for many years. However, as I continue to use it I get more and more frustrated by the cheap, flimsy base and clamping mechanism that make precise cuts nearly impossible. If you just want to turn one piece of angle iron into two, it works well. But if you need to cut something square or at anything resembling an accurate angle, it takes both an act of God and a heaping helping of dumb luck. As the clamp is tightened you can actually see it move the piece out of alignment. So the RAGE4 isn't is next to worthless if you care about precision cuts. The other issue, which is no fault of the saw, is the inability to cut larger pieces with the 7 1/4" blade. But I knew going in that the blade size would limit things. Were I to do it again, I would buy a model with a larger diameter blade and (much) higher quality clamp and base. This one still works okay if you are willing to work within its limitations. But those limitations are pretty annoying. However, I do like the "cold cut" blade technology quite a bit more than my Milwaukee abrasive saw. ... show more
