I originally thought I had received dirty, used filters when I ordered replacement ones for my evaPolar. I was completely incorrect. I was not familiar with the material they use in their filters so upon receipt, I immediately contacted the company stating I received used ones. I received a response very quickly, within a couple of hours. They explained to me why I thought the replacement filters were "used and dirty" when they were, in fact, new. On top of that, they offered me a brand new evaPolar for my troubles, even though it was completely MY mistake!     • Prone to dying because of bad power connector

This review pertains more to the main unit than the cartridge (which is expensive, BTW). I bought my second unit on Home Depot after my first one - which i bought about 3 years ago, starting blinking when I powered it up. It would not start, then start after working with the power cable a bit, which is a USB-micro. Since the first was out of warranty, I bought a second one about 5 months ago, back in April 2021. That one just died as well, and the culprit again appears to be the connector, which I believe shorts out if there is any moisture that has somehow gotten into the socket. The company tried to address this by placing a rubber stopped over the connection and by placing a warning to keep it dry. That however, wasn't enough. When you have to pour water into a unit everyday - a lot of it - it is hard not to avoid the occasional drop drippling over the side and close to that connector. I made sure to towel off the area after each fill-up, but still the unit appears to have shorted out, and I suspect it was moisture at that connection site. I would not recommend this product because of what appears to be a design flaw. ... show more

Usually these filters are great, but the last one that I ordered seems to have less paper in the "wick" part which soaks up the water to the rest of the filter. As a result, my evapolar starts to leak after a few hours. I'll be ordering a new one since I think it's a fluke.
