  • Works Surprisingly Well!
Color: White
Wasn't sure what to expect at this low price point, but extremely pleased with the build quality and clarity of this microscope! Easy to focus with multiple focal points, easy to put together, and very portable since it has a rechargeable battery and detaches from the stand. Useful for much more than just coins! Definitely recommend this purchase! ... show more

  • Much better than expected
Color: White
The media could not be loaded. I got this for coin collecting, it works great! I honestly wasn't expecting much. This was one of the first ones that popped up in my search, so I kept looking at other versions but the reviews on them were pretty questionable. So eventually I finally came back to this one, and I'm glad I did! The price was like 35 bucks I think? It's definitely worth that. The couple of bad reviews on it we're just people who didn't take the time to figure out how to work it properly. It's pretty self-explanatory to use, it doesn't come with an SD card, but you can add one later supposedly, you just have to format it. This works plugged in or unplugged, and the charge seems to last quite a while, couple hours. Not bad for a screen and a light running Non-Stop. The light is adjustable from dim to pretty bright, enough for my needs. It takes a c charger like my cell phone so that's cool. You can actually remove the screen with the magnifying glass part and carry it around and use it wherever without the mount which is kind of neat. The mount is pretty light, and the knobs are plastic, so it's not like professional grade or anything, but it's perfect for what I need it for. I don't feel like it's going to break, but I'm not going to be throwing it around or anything. It seems like the clarity is really good, I kind of jerry-rigged mine so that I can put it up higher. I put some electrical tape underneath the camera adjustment knob and screwed down the mount to it , which raises it another three or four inches in height and shows me more of the coin if I would like. Then to drop it down there's a different knob in the back which takes you as close to the coin as I would like. Honestly it works really well. I should also say I've had this thing for about a month now. I have yet to be disappointed, of course I haven't tried the SD card feature yet because I have no need. Can't help you with any advice there, sorry! I recommend this whatever it's called, microscope screen thing. ... show more

  • Not perfect, but a good bargain for the cost!
Color: White
My intention was to use the coin microscope for viewing coins. For this, it is fine with the coin on the stage. The magnification is good, the focus is sharp, and the image looks good on a small screen at 720p. In practice, the distance between the lens and the subject changes the magnification. Adjusting focus is done with the silver knob on the lens barrel. Note that to see a whole coin, the lens must be raised well above the stage. This can be done by turning the camera around and raising the stage on top of something stable. Weight should also be set on the stage so the whole device doesn't tip over because it will be out of balance with the camera reversed. Unfortunately, when the camera is raised sufficiently to view a whole coin, the light levels drop off from the 8 LEDs and the image becomes distorted. A circular coin is rendered as a very noticeably horizontally stretched oval. Perhaps this can be corrected if the image is saved and edited on a computer, but for video, it is not acceptable IMHO. Conclusion is that this device works well with subjects on stage and at the range of magnification available by adjusting the camera's height. For its cost, it is a good value. For viewing and photographing coins, say to make a personal collection log, it leaves much to be desired. ... show more

  • Great for the price.
Color: White
Just starting in the coin world thought I would try it. Turns out I’ve used it for more than just coins. Great for PC boards and finding them little annoying numbers you can’t read. So far the adjusting knobs are all holding well but for the price no complaints. Zoom works really well and the picture quality is good. Perfect starter scope. ... show more

  • Great little microscope
Color: White
I was reluctant to purchase this because I thought that using a microscope to look at coins to be a little extravagant and unnecessary. I have been using a magnifying glass or a jeweler’s loupe to inspect my coins, but this is a great little microscope. The initial set up was straightforward and only took me about 5 minutes to unbox, assemble, turn on, and change its default settings. There is also a slot for an SD chip for saving any images, or it can be plugged directly into a computer via the USD port. Disassembly is easy when it isn’t being used, and it fits nicely into a shoebox for storage. (My shoe size is a US Men’s 11 for comparison.) The images on the screen are almost perfect for inspecting or admiring my coins. I no longer have to find a good light source to see a small mint marks or fuzzy dates clearly because the lights on the microscope are brighter and much more concentrated towards the coin than available room lighting. I cannot say anything about its versatility because I have only had it for a few weeks. I will write that weight-wise it is light, but that can be good or bad. Nobody wants to lug a heavy microphone around, and nobody wants one to break if it were to fall and hit the floor either. This one seems to be sturdy, but there are so many variables that come into play whenever something is knocked over and hits the floor. Suffice it to say that this was a great find for my purposes, and I would recommend it to anyone that is interested in owning a microscope. ... show more

  • Does the Job Well!
Color: White
I’m new to coin collecting and wanted a study them without breaking the bank. Especially Morgan dollars and wheat Pennies. This scope is perfect for a beginner and one almost gets lost in the history while studying a coin that Billy the Kid may have tossed on a bar, or Doc Holliday used to raise the pot in a Tombstone poker game. Well worth the money and it enhanced my coin collection hobby immensely. ... show more
