  • Simple, powerful tiller
Size: 16 Inch, 13.5 Amp
I used to have a two-stroke internal combustion tiller and I like this one so much better. I've had it ten days now and it has performed brilliantly. My project is tilling a 10,000 square foot area which used to contain an in-ground concrete pool and deck. About a month ago, I rented a front-loader and pushed the concrete into the hole, adding dirt from nearby. Soon after this operation, it rained heavily for about three weeks, turning my work area into a morass of thick, clayey Mississippi mud, which hardened like rock when the sun came out again. It was basically adobe, and contained chunks of concrete, pieces of the metal structure, and parts of concrete pavers which the front-loader had smashed, as well as roots of various sizes. The machine is easy to start and use. It's a dead-man-switch that turns off when you release the switch, and a safety button to press to engage the dead man's handle. Safe and reliable. I spread a couple of inches of compost on top, to lighten the soil, soak up the rain and nourish the seed I'll plant when done. It does take at least three passes as it bores into the concrete-like soil, but you can get the advertised eight-inch deep cut. I was concerned at first because the unit seemed distressed when chewing out stones and debris. It was necessary to stop the tiller often and remove rocks that had been dug up. Occasionally it stalled on a two-inch thick piece of paver, which had to be removed with a crowbar and a 4lb sledge. Sometimes it stalled out because a root had tangled in the times. These dislodged easily, because the device stalls out quickly, before the root had twisted around the axis more than a couple of times, unlike my old 2-stroke tiller where a root would be tangled around the machinery more than a dozen times before it stalled. A former owner had installed an old 1950s ten gauge electrical cable without a conduit and three or four inches deep. The tiller "found" pieces of this wire and usually stalled. The wire was easy to remove, though I kept a wire cutter handy to cut any connected end. The unit rattles and groans when it encounters junk. I'd normally be distressed at a machine making such noises, but the unit is designed to take such abuse. On examining the machine, it looked like the tines could easily be replaced by removing two bolts, and the drive unit looks workable too. Although the tines were not harmed by the abuse it took, I can see them eventually bending or breaking, and, when that happens, I'll buy a replacement part and fix it, or buy a whole replacement tiller if necessary. It's great to find a durable, simple, well-designed product that can stand up to abuse and keep doing what it's supposed to. One tip: I keep a grabber tool handy for reaching down and removing rocks and debris from around the machine. Avoids putting my hands near moving parts and much easier on my back. Leaving excavated debris and making another pass over it makes the machine work harder and take longer For the first day or so I wore shin guards to protect against ejected rocks. There's a metal plate designed to prevent stuff from hitting the user, and, although it does throw rocks in all directions, in dozens of hours of use I've never been hit by one. ... show more

  • Worth the money
Size: 16 Inch, 13.5 Amp
I bought this from Amazon after reading the reviews of this machine and others. This is a very good machine. Assembly very easy, if you can tell the difference between a bolt and wing nut you can put this together in less than 10 minutes. The performance of the machine is outstanding.I live in south Michigan and its pretty sandy soil but the grass roots are hard and I had no problem tilling a 12’x30’ plot twice in each direction in less than 2 hours , however I have COPD so I take a lot of breaks, a healthy person could do the same in 45 minutes.Nice low noise operating system. Overall I’m very happy with the machine, if it’s longevity is comparable to original quality, it should last me a long time. I highly recommend this machine ... show more

  • Impressed
Size: 14 Inch, 10 Amp
Only used once, however I'm impressed with the results so far. Light weight and powerful. Easy to control. If it continues on this path I'll update review with 5 stars.

  • works great!!
Size: 14 Inch, 10 Amp
Great value for the price -- weight (approx 18#) is easy for me to use - bought it for a small raised garden and it's easy to lift into the garden as opposed to our larger gas powered till - that I can't handle :-)

  • ☀️Clay Soil, No Problem! Light enough for a girl, strong enough to get it done! 👌🏼
Size: 16 Inch, 13.5 Amp
The media could not be loaded. I used this on two different projects: grass under a trampoline 18x18ft, and four flower beds 10x(7-2)ft. Worked great on 90 degree weather, no overheating issues. I plugged it up to a power station and was able to work straight through. It’s definitely smoother tilling backwards slowly to pull up soil. Mow your lawn down, just so that the tiller isn’t rotating long grass. My flowerbeds had a days worth of rain on my claylike soil, worked flawlessly and I was able to rack grass out. Area under trampoline had two days worth of rain and I struggled to get the grass roots out because it was more clumpy. Not a tiller issue, but overly saturated soil. I plan to continue using the tiller for brushy areas in back of property to clean it up. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great little machine
Size: 16 Inch, 13.5 Amp
I wanted a tiller that was light enough to lift up into raised beds and till, but that's not its greatest feature. I haven't used it long enough to attest to its durability ( I often buy extended warranties because products nowadays can be a sort of a gamble), but this little machine has some real power. It will dig. I tilled my raised beds to the machine's maximum depth, and it never bogged down digging through the weeds and grass that were heavily wrapped around the tines by the time I finished. It has so much power that I pulled it backwards to avoid hitting the ends of the beds going forward and because the tiller wants to leap forward and up due to its lightweight. It was easy enough to hold pulling it backwards and quickly chewed the soil, which has a lot of clay in it, to it's maximum depth. And it really made a nice bed without pulverizing the soil. ... show more

  • Works Great - Just What I Needed
Size: 16 Inch, 13.5 Amp
I tried previously to submit a review - not sure if it was posted, so here's a recap: I was very tired of the effort it took to start our gas-powered rototiller. Needed to "turn the page". This unit has 13.5 Amps and 1,500 watts - plenty of power; it is the 16" model. Relatively easy to assemble - make sure you read through all the instructions before you start assembling. You will become used to having an extension cord following you around. Unit has great power. You may want to try having the wheels in different settings when dealing with hard-pack ground -vs- soft soil. I'm so happy and pleased with this rototiller! ... show more

  • OH! I wasn't expecting so much power! I LOVE this little machine!
Size: 16 Inch, 13.5 Amp
I Have had large gas-powered tillers, but moved into town several years ago so don't need those. I had one battery operate tiller about 10 years ago that I returned. This tiller surprised my husband and me with how strong it is and what a good job it is doing. I bought it based on the review and am happy with it so far. Tilled my little garden twice this summer so far, my father-in-law- a large one that took al day, and one other medium garden. Everyone who has seen it is surprised at what this tiller can do. Highly recommend it. ... show more
