Be wary of the images that are being advertised. I selected the blue colored item with mesh net willing to pay just a little more for to steer away from the bold red colors. I received the RED net. This was intended as a birthday gift and was meant to coordinate with a blue and silver bass boat… oh brother! This net makes catch and release fishing a breeze. Get the fish in the net, pop the hook(s) out, put the fish back in the water, and get back to fishing. Easy. Nothing gets tangled in it, period. I primarily fish from the shore, and this net is the perfect size for that style of fishing. Bought this smaller version for using on my kayak. Now we use it everywhere. I am going to buy a larger one for fishing up in Canada where the northern pike can be in the high 40's (inches). Hopefully the larger net can handle the weight of such a fish. I recommend with only the qualification that you pay attention to the weight limit chart, based on the amount of extension you are using. ... show more

I would have given more stars if I had the opportunity to test more thoroughly. I found it to be as advertised it expands and collapses easily which is an asset on a kayak,also the hook didn't tangle in the net. I'll further review if I have a negative experience when I catch more fish

Bought 2 of these for a trout fishing trip with my sons in June. Within 5 days 1 of the 2 handle latches broke and now unusable and is past the Amazon 30 day return policy. These were premium priced so you wouldnt think they would fail so quickly... definitely not worth the money.
