Got this so my four year old grandson and I could catch tadpoles at our local pond. The rubber tube coating that holds the front of the net to the metal side supports slips off every time we get some heavy, wet leaves in the net. The net is collapsed, making it useless until you replace the tubing. We can put it back on, but it's annoying. Wish I had spent a little more and gotten a better one. ... show more

The folding can be a bit difficult due to the the trigger you have to pull. You pull the trigger back to flip up the net and let it go so it covers the net frame's bars and keeps it open, then pull it again to release the bars to fold it. So while it definitely feels like it could handle some weight with that solid metal piece holding the bars in place, it is incredibly difficult to pull the trigger back and hold it long enough to get the bars underneath it. The grooves meant to give you grip also dig into your finger as you try to hold it back. The folding also works because of the topmost side of the triangular frame actually being a rubber tube. This tube makes me nervous because you can see the ends of the metal sticking into the rubber, and the level of prominence gives a feeling of the rubber being able to rip with a little use. Hopefully it will prove me wrong, we will see. I also can't tell for sure how well the rubber tube is secured onto the metal frame, so I'm hoping it can handle holding up some weight. It seems pretty well stuck on there, which is promising. The gloves are just cheap, thin gloves with grippy dots on the face that feel more like they're meant to keep you warm than use them to fish, especially considering they'd probably eagerly soak up any water they'd be exposed to and get ruined from the slime of the very first fish they touch. Still, I feel like you could tell that from the picture, I had no belief that they were going to be anything more than that and it just turned out I was right. The metal parts are strong though, I have no doubt that if any part of this net failed it would not be the metal folding mechanism. Yes, it is short, but again, you really should be able to tell that from the picture. Not to mention measurements are in fact clearly given. It was honestly bigger than I expected it to be, personally. Those criticizing the length don't seem to realize it mostly meant to be used by kayak fishermen and the like, in which case it is absolutely perfect. It would fit nicely in a kayak and wouldn't be too long to effectively manoeuvre from within one. Claiming it is only fit for minnows is exaggerating, it could probably even fit a large bass. I quite like the handle on it, it's not soft but it is easy to keep your grip. I also like that the design includes a ring keeping the net secured to the handle so that it can't slide up the frame without sacrificing the folding ability. Overall, it works well enough, and it's easy to scoop up a fish with when you're sitting down in a kayak. ... show more
