  • Great stove for the price, can’t beat it!
The media could not be loaded. Very happy with this stove,my last one was here when we moved in 4 years ago,the grate warped and the blower never worked and then the door fell off, last straw lol.I was weary about ordering through Amazon but it was cake, delivery guy was very helpful and no problems with packaging and everything was in tact,it’s heavy but not that bad to move,I had 3 friends and a case of beer and pizza to help.Put the liner in myself also not really that difficult either, you can find everything on you tube and if your handy just take your time and do it right. Tstove gives off great heat and doesn’t take long to warm up and because I never had a working blower I didn’t realize how much heat it can pump out,it is a little loud on high but I put it on high for a few minutes to get the heat going then turn it down.I definitely use less logs than before,we light it around noon and burn until we go to bed probably use ten or twelve logs with the damper almost closed, usually gets between 400 and 600 degrees ,I have had it up to 800 degrees but it’s too hot,all in all it was a pretty easy install for someone who never did it before it took about 3 hours ,with the liner and caulk and cement it was around $2100 but the fireplace company’s wanted $6000 ,insane! Easy to clean out and looks great ... show more

  • Beauty meets efficiency
The media could not be loaded. In June we hired a chimney company to install it as we are not familiar with how to install it ourselves. Install went smoothly and the fire and blower is working very well so far in heating a one level 1300 square foot house. Gets very warm and cozy. We live in northern Maryland (medium/mild winters) so hope it will do well through the winter months. We love the glass door because we can see the fire. Worth the money. Good quality. Also, please note: blower turns on automatically after fire reaches a certain temperature. ... show more

  • A great solution for an old and damaged flue
this insert really heats up the house! the blower does a great job. I have central heat and air so I run the house fan to distribute the heat. I had to push the insert farther back into the fireplace because of the thick stonework so I probably will not put on a surround. It is well made and easy to use. IT is HEAVY so take that into account. Love it! ... show more

  • DO NOT PURCHASE
This stove is a total joke. only after you spend the money on product and installation you won't think it's funny. it is IMPOSSIBLE to get fire "right" so the glass isn't constantly brown and disgusting. the fire lasts 3-4 hours only. save your money and run from this. get a real wood stove that provides plenty heat. this is the biggest disappointment i've ever had. ... show more

  • Great little stove!
I bought this stove elsewhere, but I've been very impressed with it through the first 1/2 Winter. I took my time on the install (insulated fireplace walls, added block-off plate above stove, used insulated 6-inch liner). Using well-seasoned wood, we have no problem getting fires going. The trickiest part of the learning curve was keeping our large living room from getting too hot. Once we get it going good and get some red coals, 2-3 sticks of wood at a time (with the damper mostly closed) is about right. Anything more and it gets too hot. (I'm talking with outside temps in the 20s and 30s F). The secondary burn is nice, but the stove has to have a good bit of coals or an active fire before the secondary burn stays going. Sometimes when I'm just getting the fire going good, I wish the damper would open more to allow a stronger flame. You really have to leave the door cracked for several minutes to get the fire hot quickly. I'm sure it's limited due to the EPA certification. Regarding overnight fires, we load it up to the top at night and close the damper. It's probably not ideal from a chimney-cleaning perspective since it does create some smoke, but we always have enough coals in the morning to get the fire going again without any kindling (after 8+ hours). Regarding wood type, I always try to use my softer woods (poplar, soft maple) when first starting my fires, as it ignites easier. I'll put my hard woods (locust / oak) above the softer stuff or on a hot bed of coals. Hope this was helpful. I always appreciate others taking time to review products here on Amazon. ... show more

  • Drolet 1800 2nd year
My second year with insert,it has 2.4 cu.ft.box.20" log,we had to chisel some firebrick out of fireplace hearth to fit, this was biggest stove I could find to fit for price.house is two floors about 1400 sq ft.with chimney in center of house, the build looks good ,although it was shipped with bricks in place and they tumbled about some but ok.need blower running to get heat in room, house is old with 1970s upgraded insulation, has old leaky Windows, but stove has been adequit, the door handle is ok but not as robustly designed as others I have seen.all in all I'm happy with this and would recommend. ... show more

  • Works but arrived damaged
My only complaint is that it was damaged in shipping. Clearly not the manufacturer’s fault but it’s unfortunate that my new insert is banged up. I can’t feasibly send it back because it’s needed to heat my house.
