  • Mildew smell...
Style Name: Tailor's Ham
I was already familiar with this particular tailor ham as a friend has one. I like the size and shape, and the materials are fine for me. I didn't experience any problem with the fabric melting or anything. I don't know what the deal is with this one, but it smelled like mildew right out of the package. I have stuffed it in a bag with some moisture absorber packs and hope that helps to pull the smell out. Since it is stuffed with sawdust, there isn't anything you can do to wash it. I didn't really see where anyone else had this problem, so maybe it is a fluke for me? I will give it some time and update if it airs out okay. As for the cancer warning on the label, it is because it is full of sawdust (and not cancerous chemical soaked sawdust, plain non chemically treated sawdust). Apparently, inhaling plain sawdust (as in if you cut wood and breathe in that air) can cause cancer. You are not breathing in this sawdust (it is fully enclosed) but it doesn't make any difference to the California cancer warning. So if you don't cut it open, throw it in the air, and inhale it all, you will be fine. Update: After leaving it in a bag with some moisture absorber packs, the smell is pretty well gone. I spritzed some febreeze on there and it smells nice now so I moved it up to four stars. Annoying, but glad it worked. I don't know why the manufacturer doesn't ship it with something to absorb odors and moisture. ... show more

  • Perfect Addition to my Sewing Tool Collection
Style Name: Tailor's Ham
I'm not sure what product some of the people who reviewed this item got but mine was exactly as advertised! It is NOT filled with polyester; it is filled with "wood dust." The materials are a wool/poly blend on one side and cotton on the other. I am happy with it especially since it is several dollars cheaper here than on the fabric company sites for the same item. A great deal in my opinion! ... show more

  • The perfect sewing/pressing ham
Style Name: Tailor's Ham
Unlike many available, this one is very well made. The filling is compact and the ham holds its shape over many pressings so far. I had ordered a less expensive one. It was not worth the money. I have been using this one for over a month and highly recommend this for the sewiest.

  • Great tailor's ham
Style Name: Tailor's Ham
I bought this tailor's ham after seeing a You Tube video on using HTV on baseball caps. It made such a difference while pressing the HTV onto my cap. It was easy to place inside the cap, felt substantial, and sturdy enough to get nice even pressure. A must for crafters.

  • Poor Quality
Style Name: Seam Roll
I was disappointed in the quality of the pressing roll and the pressing ham. There was no mention in the ad that the plaid part of these products were made from a cotton/polyester blend rather than wool as it was traditionally. The look was the same but the fabric was inferior. Also, the products were not completely filled causing pleats around the seams. Both of there facts makes the product far less useful than the traditional ham and roll. ... show more

  • What a Ham!
Style Name: Tailor's Ham
No, this ham is not funny, but it's tres useful! (It's also red plaid, not "brown".) I expected to use it for the usual sewing tasks, but it also comes in handy ironing 'fidley bits' like collars and sleeve plackets.

  • Sturdy And Worth The Money
Style Name: Tailor's Ham
I received this item in a clear plastic box and there was no odor. It is sturdy. If you follow the instructions on how to use this item you will have no problems. My white backing was made of cloth not vinyl which is for medium to hot temps. I am very satisfied with this purchase and the price was right. ... show more

  • Small Ham
Style Name: Tailor's Ham
This tailor's ham is a lot smaller than the one my mother had that was also made by Dritz. Is there a larger one available?
