  • Works well for 210sqft attic but trips breaker
Color: Gold Size: Large
The media could not be loaded. I bought this to heat my bedroom on the 3rd floor (attic) that has 5 windows. My house is pretty old and this floor gets very cold in the winter. I have one of those wooden, infrared, Dr. Heater ones but that one left me freezing. I was lucky if it took the chill out of the air. I was looking for a 1500w heater with a large heating element and small footprint. After doing some research, i decided to get this one. Dreo seems to have a good reputation and sells a TON of heaters from what I've seen. I was honestly surprised with the amount of heat this thing puts out. Its currently 42°f outside and this is keeping my room toasty even with some air leakage from my window a/c that I still need to remove or seal up. The oscillation speed is perfect and the heater is very aesthetically pleasing. You can hear the fans running but its not too loud especially across the room. The fans push air for at least 8' on high. The remote works well although i wish it were either lighted or had some sort of texture to the buttons. I have to either shine a light on it or turn the lights on to use it. When changing a setting, the lights will be bright, then it dims and goes back to the default screen. This is nice because it doesn't light up the room when you're trying to relax or go to sleep. This version also comes with a 2 prong plug. The packing methods used for the heater were phenomenal! There were several thick pieces of Styrofoam holding it firmly in place inside of the manufacturer's box. Amazon had shipped it in an oversized box that had no padding to keep the heater from bouncing around inside of it. Regardless, it arrived unscathed. I cannot say the same for my recent Lasko heater, which died after just 2 weeks. I'm glad that one broke because this one is sooooo much better for only a few dollars more! Pros: - Works well to heat a large area - Has an adjustable thermostat - Looks clean and modern - Not very noisy - Doubles as a fan - Lights dim themselves after adjustments - Remote is handy and works well - Packaging was superb Cons: - Remote could be lit up or be textured for easier use - Cord could be a foot or two longer The real test will be when the temps drop below freezing. When that happens or the heater fails, I'll be back with an update. Update: 29°f last night and it kept it pretty comfortable in my room on the highest setting. I don't have a thermometer so my guess would be high 60s to maybe low 70s. Not bad. I'm sure it'll be better once i seal off the window a/c for the winter. Overall I am completely satisfied with my purchase and definitely feel like I got what I paid for! Edit: this unit keeps tripping my breaker at random. I previously used a 1500w heater on high without any issues. I ran it on full blast for 8 hours while i slept and it tripped it not too long after. Its plugged directly into the wall and the only other thing it's shared with is a mini fridge. Its been doing it on both medium and high. I'm going to keep it on low for a while to see if it does it again. I'm not sure if i have a faulty unit or not. I might try returning it for a replacement. ... show more

  • The heat is real and the chills are gone, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Color: Gold Size: Large
I decided to replace my old space heater as it just wasn't doing the job in my rather poorly insulated home office spot, that also has a sleeping area. This is my initial review after trying it a day, and sleeping there overnight. Pros: Heating: Very impressive space heating. Within first using it I removed "chill zones" and cold nooks and corners, as well as old floor problems like my feet getting frozen. I didn't even have hope I could get rid of some of that draft, but the blowing method this heater uses... actually works. That's amazing, honestly, and it's a great value if you need a cold / unheated room get some decent heat distribution. I'm replacing a 10 year old popular brand heater that wasn't doing anything much for me in the same room. The old heater failed to remove chills from the room, and I was wearing 3 pairs of socks at one point. Now I'm removing layers and relaxing. This to me is the biggest win of this heater, as I was worried about heating this area this winter, now I have hope. Low noise: It's much, much quieter than most heaters... though on eco mode at night in cold weather it can change power levels often which is pretty noticeable and kind of defeats the whisper quiet stuff. (Which is fine, I'll take heat at the end of the day.) So I'd say more like it's quieter in the day time than most other heaters. Honestly it's not something I cared about, but if you are I figure you would count it as a pro. Cons: Warm plug: the plug can get slightly warm when using, including along the whole length of the cord. This immediately tells me this unit could be a risky one in some hands, if they go crazy with the settings. I would not lend this to older seniors or other people known to not give things enough attention. No temperature reading: The heater never shows it's own temperature reading at all, only what it is set to. This kind of surprised me, because letting us read the temp is one way to troubleshoot our home's insulation, or how the unit is working. There's a workaround to this: manually lower the eco mode temp until you reach the level where it's not blowing hard, and then you can assume that's around the temp reading of the unit. It's really surprising the heater won't just show you its temperature though, that feels like a basic feature that's missing. Unusual handle design. As some have pointed out there's no grip on the handle and it's a vertical slope. It's not hard to carry by any means, but the ability to do something by accident like drop it increases with this handle design. Stability - the base has no weight so anyone could tip this over if they trip on the cord or bump into it. Not a big deal if the space you're using it in is controlled, but possibly a big deal if you have pets/kids/elders in the space. Untested: Extreme cold weather - Unfortunately only milder weather is hitting me with a mild winter night (mid 30s) right now. I'd say in this weather it's more than adequate even in some degree of poor insulation situations. However, there's a big test to come in the 20s, teens, and zero outside... and so I'll come back to the review when I test more. Overall: I'm giving it 4 stars now, and an additional star later if it works well in the extreme cold. Yes, even with all the cons mentioned the big thing going for this is the heating output and distance is unreal. It's a no-brainer if you have the right situation for it, because why wouldn't you want to be warm. The price is fine as well. You'll see cheaper heaters out there, but those are best if the space you're in is extremely insulated, small, and easy to heat. I don't think you can do much better than this for the volume of room it somehow reaches in problematic areas. Update: I've tried it in colder weather. Still works. Therefore I'll give it 5 stars. ... show more

  • Defective
Color: Silver Size: Large
This unit is nice. It's aesthetic, run s quiet, and puts out good heat. However, just a months use, it's started off-gassing a horrible, burning plastic smell. Looking over the unit, it appears to be work as expected: the fan is spinning, it still functions as expected, but it's putting out a toxic smelling fume. There's no smoke, and visible sign of dysfunction. It's odd. -- Update -- Figured out what was causing the smell. Turns out, I had a severely defective outlet. I can't say that the heater caused the issue as the outlet continued to fail even though the heater was not connected, and it was an outlet on a different wall, not the one the heater was connected to. I have moved the heater to the basement near my desk, running it for the last couple of days. It hasn't produced any smell (since it wasn't the cause of the smell). It heats well and runs as it should. ... show more
