I use this heater to warm my well insulated garage/workshop during our Indiana winters. It does a good job generally. Lights quickly but, like any heater, takes a while to take the chill off, especially when it’s really cold out. Needed something to heat up my off grid cabin quickly on those cold winter nights and that doesn't run on electricity. This heater fit the bill and lived up to expectations. Easy to fill with a battery operated syphon and puts out a ton of heat. I lit the heater outside for the first go and then moved it inside. Only smell the kerosene when the unit is turned off and it's not bad at all...in fact it's a lot less than I expected. Heat projects upward so my ceiling fan comes in handy to circulate the heat effectively. I'm finding that I now turn the heater on early in the morning vs using the woodstove to take the chill off mainly due to the convenience factor. Kerosene has to be K1 and my cost is about $25 per 5 gallon jug so this is a more expensive option compared to wood forsure but cheaper for me than using small propane cannister heaters to warm my cabin up upon arrive on cold winter nights. Handle is the only bad thing about the heater as it's too flimsy so you have to be careful when lifting the unit when it's full of kerosene. I like this heater so much that I'm likely to purchase another one for use in another part of the cabin. ------------------------- UPDATE Feb 2015 Warning...don't let this heater run out of kerosene. I made the mistake of leaving the heater running one morning when it was almost out of fuel and didn't realize it was on until I smelt the kerosene smell. Turned it off and later realized there was a layer of soot on my walls and ceiling throughout my 1100sqft cabin. This resulted in a major cleaning job especially on my new window blinds. ... show more

It heats quickly which is a plus. But all kerosene heaters do. The ignite doesn't work, even with brand new batteries. It seems to burn through gas faster than other kerosene heaters. The low to high option, isn't much difference between the two. The shut off, sometimes doesn't work all the way. Maybe I just got a faulty one. It heats the home, so it's doing it's job. None of the features really work correctly other than the heat. Update after using for 8 days.... the shut off doesn't work.... I have no idea how to cut it off. Keep calling the company. No one will answer or call back. Do NOT BUY...... NOT SAFE!! ... show more
