Description

The DonJoy Stabilizing Speed Pro Ankle Support Brace is designed to meet the needs of demanding athletes everywhere. This ankle support brace features 800D ballistic nylon and a reinforced eyelet area for outstanding performance and durability. The speed element involves the innovative lace-up design which is quickly secured using Velcro, and is accompanied by figure-8 strapping. This locks the calcaneus (heel bone) into place and controls inversion/eversion. A full circumferential elastic strap secures the strapping and provides added tibia/fibula compression. Removable, articulated medial/lateral stays enhance proprioception (body position awareness) and stability. The lightweight, low- profile design allows the ankle support brace to easily fit inside your shoe. Universal fit allows the DonJoy Stabilizing Speed Pro Ankle Support Brace to be worn on either the left or right foot.

  • Great for stability and much better that neoprene sleeves
Size: Medium
I'm a runner and this got me thru a high ankle sprain. My son used it after sprained ankles in club volleyball. Easy to put on and comfortable to wear all day if needed.

  • My Ride or Die - long review
Size: Medium
SO. I originally got this brace directly from my podiatrist for my severe achilles tendonitis. By that point I had tried almost every style of brace I could get my hands on for various styles, even some from the podiatrist directly. If a brace did not fit well or was too difficult to put on, they were no good. I have mental illnesses and finding the energy and motivation to put something on every day and wear it all day was hard for me to do; if you dont like it, you won't use it basically. It was a chore to put on for all of my braces until this brace came into my life. Most of the same style of braces are fully laced so you would have to loosen the laces drastically to get your foot in, and sometimes you would have to re-lace the top half to wear it. This can get really old really fast if you have to wear it daily. The Speed Pro Brace on the other hand, is super easy to use. There are a few steps, but they are so quick to to do, probably around 10 seconds to put on, if that. Instead of re-lacing every time you put it on, the laces are split into two velcro tabs so it is a pull and attach to the side velcro strips. Then the figure 8 straps to the side velcro, and then the final top ankle wrap to stabilize even further. It is super easy and quick, and I love it! Things that could be changed in general: -the plastic D rings that the lacing laces through could be better. There have been times that shoes or the brace shifted and has made the D rings hit a pressure point on my foot - not fun, but after unwrapping it and after adjusting it you can move on with your day. I do not know if a sturdy and less hard material can be used instead, or if lowering it's profile will help. Now, you are probably wondering why I am reviewing on amazon if I got my brace through my podiatrist...WELL I wore my initial one out. I cannot even remember how long I have used it, but I wear it 40 hours a week minimum and it has been a few months 3-5 months I think. I work an office job so more walking, standing, etc. Where the D rings attach for the lacing, there is a stability product that I think is plastic strip because the sides paralleled to the leg portion of my ankle has removable plastic stability strips, almost like a book mark. The lacing stability has warped from flat to a squiggle. Since I wear the brace so long and so often, I am not surprised. So I ordered one directly from amazon instead of going through my podiatrist. It arrived this morning and it looks and works exactly the same as my first one. BUT there is one difference. The top set of laces seem to be shorter than my first version. I am not sure if that was an updated feature on my original brace, or the one I got second. it still will function the same and the laces may stretch. not sure I got a flawed product or not, but I made sure I got the correct sized brace, so who knows. This is my favorite ankle brace compared to all of the others I have tried in my 29 years of life. I played sports, went backpacking, and haven't had the best care in my younger years in regards to physical injuries. I am getting a custom brace done through my podiatrist, but my current one wouldn't last the 2-3 weeks more while that is getting processed and shipped, yesterday I held a not so funeral for the first one, as I purchased the second one with express shipping. I legit told my podiatrist I want something like the speed pro, but with more longevity and customized to my foot. I will sing my praises about this brace any time someone asks about braces for their ankles. I also recommend crocs....I am part of the population that think crocs look ugly, but the combo of the brace, crocs, and at home ankle exercises got me down to a 2-3 level pain on the daily instead of a 9. Great improvement! If not a croc fan, get loose tennis shoes, tighter shoes make getting your foot and brace into it a little difficult. ... show more

  • Wonderful brace
Size: X-Large
This brace is great it’s not too bulky and doesn’t stick out too much and stretch out your shoe. This brace allows you to adjust the tightness on how tight you want it around your ankle or how loose you want it around your ankle.

  • The best one for tarsal tunnel
Size: Small
I have tarsal tunnel and an Achilles issue if I wear this at work and walk around it’s not so bad also I use it to drive. My only complaint is that it’s starting to wear and that makes sense because I’m wearing it every day for over a month now. I remove the two plastic side inserts for stability just because it was hurting my foot but now it’s more comfortable and still stabilizes my foot. What makes it so amazing is the fact that you don’t have to lace up individually such a pain to do that it’s just a double strap for the tops at the bottom set and you’re good to go I adjust as needed. My foot is healing but rather slowly just because I’m always on it. Take your ibuprofen or naproxen and ice after each outting. Pt helps! ... show more

  • So much better than than the full lace up
Size: Medium
I was given the full lace up brace from my orthopedic group after I graduated out of the "boot" from a broken ankle. It has laces like hightop tennis shoes, where you need to loosen the laces all the down to get them off and re-tighten them when you put them back on. What a hassle. The speed laces eliminates all that. The design gathers four laces at a time and connects them to a heavy duty piece of velcro which you pull across and secure. There are 2 speed laces each coming from opposite sides assuring good support. SO much easier. The rest of the design is the same as the full lace-ups. Two straps (one on each side) are used to come down around the heel/arch in a figure eight and secured with heavy duty Velcro firmly supporting the ankle. Lastly, a wide Velcro cuff around the top holds everything in place. The Speed-lace design also has removal stays on both sides to add more stability. My Physical Therapists love it too. ... show more

  • I bought this for my husband who has issues with an unstable ankle
Size: Medium
My husband has a bit of a drop foot and unstable ankle as a result of permanent numbness from a herniated disk. He was given a brace by his doctor, which was good, but this one far surpasses in comfort and support. He can wear it comfortably with his athletic shoes as well as dress shoes. I have worried about his stability when walking and this brace has helped tremendously. ... show more

The product seems to be good ,however the box it came in looked like it was a used item and had been opened before I received it. It came from a poor supplier.

  • Almost as good as the non-speed version, but much easier
Size: X-Large
This is WAY easier to get on and off than the lace-up version, and take a fraction of the time but it comes at a price. It's not quite as tight, and the velcro used to secure the laces gets in the way. My advice to the company -- extend the entire brace a smidge higher, and provide a location to stick it above the elastic ring that's used for compression. Perhaps some consideration will need to be made to enable routing of the laces to a location so high on the brace. ... show more
