Direct replacement for: 96160, 96160SU, 96153, 96117, 96153SU, 96158, 96163, 96158SU. Doors recommended: 94050 (Arctic White) 94010 (Black). If this installation is in place of an old water heater, and adaptor brackets are needed, we recommend 94016 (Arctic White) 94067 (black). Aluminum tank is lightweight and corrosion resistant.

Nice unit, it took me longer to take out the old one then to install this one. Works great. I installed it in under 20 minutes. I never changed the factory setting for the water temp. be careful, it comes out very hot and it recovers fast

Like many others, I had the old Atwood in my TT. When it quit I went looking for a replacement only to find that they no longer make that size. Therefore, I purchased this one and the adapter kit for the larger 16 inch hole. Installation was a bit of a pain. First, the adapter kit isn't completely straightforward. Take your time and figure it out before you start working with sealant and it's not a big deal, but it is still something of a pain. Also, the plumbing connections were not the same as the old one. I'm fortunate and my TT has PEX-A so I was able to modify the plumbing without too big a problem. The big question for me was how much hot water it would provide. If I ran both the electric and the propane then my old Atwood would provide the shower with nice warm water as long as you wanted to stand there. We just got back from a week out and this one did not disappoint. I just hope that they do not change the standard size of the hole again if I need another one in 10 years!!! ... show more

This water heater works great. The hot water is hotter and last longer then the Atwood one I had to replace. The dimensions on this site are invalid. I had to go to dometic to get the right specs. Other down side is I run it on propane and it sounds like a jet engine. It is much louder than the old Atwood water heater. I bought the conversion kit and the replacement was easy.     • New Old Stock, and heater does not work out of the box.
The heater looks good in the box, comes with all the installation parts you need, minus the door. Dometic does not manufacture the door this heater needs anymore, but they do make an adapter kit that is around $40. That’s only a 5 minute install. However these are new old stock heaters. Mine was purchased in April of 2024, and this heater was manufactured in January of 2019. And they don’t work properly out of the box. This one turns on as it should, but it does not regulate the temperature. The heater is just ON until you shut it off. I replaced both thermostats, and triple checked the wiring. Nothing changed the fact that I had 180° water coming out of my kitchen sink. IF LEFT UNCHECKED THIS WILL BURN YOUR CAMPER TO THR GROUND ... show more

    • Careful with your measurements
This did not fit the opening without having to build a frame and much caulking. Make sure you buy the right trim door because it is confusing. But once installed it works fine.

    • Beware of door fitment UPDATE
The door kit 94951 shown as usually ordered with this (WH-6GEA) heater fits the hole as needed but won't latch closed. This heater has the latch in the middle and 94951 door uses 2 latches. One on each side. I contacted Dometic about how to get a proper door or latch. Their customer service department is the best. She pointed out that a latch kit was supposed to be in the box and even though I purchased this from Amazon they would send one to me at no charge. It has arrived and I will install it this weekend.
