  • Easy to install
Nice unit, it took me longer to take out the old one then to install this one. Works great. I installed it in under 20 minutes. I never changed the factory setting for the water temp. be careful, it comes out very hot and it recovers fast

  • Great Product!!!
Like many others, I had the old Atwood in my TT. When it quit I went looking for a replacement only to find that they no longer make that size. Therefore, I purchased this one and the adapter kit for the larger 16 inch hole. Installation was a bit of a pain. First, the adapter kit isn't completely straightforward. Take your time and figure it out before you start working with sealant and it's not a big deal, but it is still something of a pain. Also, the plumbing connections were not the same as the old one. I'm fortunate and my TT has PEX-A so I was able to modify the plumbing without too big a problem. The big question for me was how much hot water it would provide. If I ran both the electric and the propane then my old Atwood would provide the shower with nice warm water as long as you wanted to stand there. We just got back from a week out and this one did not disappoint. I just hope that they do not change the standard size of the hole again if I need another one in 10 years!!! ... show more

  • Easy install
So far so good. It's only been a month but it's a lot cheaper than going to the dealer to have it out in. Wires are color coded so you can't screw them up.

  • Perfect Replacement
This unit replaces older Dometic and Atwood RV hot water heaters 6 gal. (GC6AA-10E). The framing is smaller than the old ones so you need to get the door conversion kit to close up the larger opening on the outside of your RV. If your opening is originally 12 x 16 this is 12 x 12 and the conversion door kit is Dometic Part #94946 and is made for the 12x16 opening with exhaust located in center of door. Amazon does carry this conversion kit but in the product description it states that door catch and hardware is sold separately, THIS IS NOT THE CASE, the hardware and side panels ARE included in the box along with the new door! All worked pefectly! ... show more

  • Beware of door fitment UPDATE
The door kit 94951 shown as usually ordered with this (WH-6GEA) heater fits the hole as needed but won't latch closed. This heater has the latch in the middle and 94951 door uses 2 latches. One on each side. I contacted Dometic about how to get a proper door or latch. Their customer service department is the best. She pointed out that a latch kit was supposed to be in the box and even though I purchased this from Amazon they would send one to me at no charge. It has arrived and I will install it this weekend. When you have all of the parts this works perfectly. ... show more

  • It took me a week to install - Now on Jan 2022 it doesnt work
I liked the instructions and watched one video on youtube that made everything much easier to install. I fabricated a solid square from angle steel made a flange that covered the existing gaps and used an older water heater door that was the size of the original hole. It was a miracle that it fit as well as it did. I purchased a light and two switches from a RV store and made my own dual switch because it did not come with one and the one in the picture is no longer available. Wired it in the switch using an empty slot in the fuse box with a 10amp fuse and the ran the wires through a sheath and mounted the switches through a normal 120amp housing. It didnt work initially because I forgot to turn the valve but the water was scolding hot when it started to work. So be careful, the dual gas electric works and I even tested the gas shutoff and light. Make sure not to turn on the electricity side if the tank is empty and always perform maintenance. Over all it has worked great! the reason i am giving it a 4 stars is because i measure it against my home water heater that is also 600$ 50 gallons and i cant justify in my head paying the same amount for a 6 gallon water heater for an RV at the same price. Just doesnt make sense to me. Would i buy it again absolutely but still leaves that itch on my head... UPDATE: I used it 3 times since i put it in, I winterized it and now putting it back into service it doesnt work at all. There is power to the unit, the controls work just no heat on either gas or electric. very disappointing!!! ... show more

  • Great replacement
Good replacement for original dometic water heater that sprang a leak after 16 years. The only issue I had was one of the fittings on the back had pretty rough threads and it was difficult to tighten the water line down tight enough to be leak free. I should have used a thread chaser to recut/clean the threads. Instructions were great and the wiring and propane line all fit without modification. The plug in cord could have been a little longer but it worked. ... show more

  • Leaking welds
It was very easy to install. The hot and cold are in different locations so you may need to redo some of your pex pips. You will need the door adapter so there is that extra cost. My problem is that after 18 months of use, the welds are leaking. Water in a camper is very bad. I would HIGHLY suggest you get the warranty with this. ... show more
