This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Dolphin Cayman pool vacuum receives generally positive feedback for its functionality and ease of use, with a couple of concerns reported. Customers appreciate its ability to handle fine debris and algae on pool surfaces, climb walls, and sometimes even reach the waterline or clean steps to some extent. The ease of cleaning its filter basket and the durability of the device, assuming proper pool chemical balance is maintained, are highly praised. However, there is an observed inconsistency in wall-climbing capabilities, and a few mechanical issues were mentioned, such as failure to start or move properly.

  • 🔄 Does not clean steps or the spa area effectively.

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a pool vacuum that significantly reduces manual cleaning effort, the Dolphin Cayman may be a great investment. Its ability to handle various types of debris and automate the cleaning process comes with high marks. However, potential buyers should be aware of the possible mechanical issues and the device's limitations in climbing and cleaning certain areas of the pool. If these cons are manageable and you value the time and effort saved, this product could be a fitting choice for your pool maintenance needs.

  • Leaves my large 18'x38' pool sparkling clean
I'm too lazy to upload the feel-good video of running this vacuum for the first time after my pool opened for the season. It's only been a month so I can't comment on longevity, but for my day-to-day usage, it's amazing. Its wall-cleaning capabilities are also great.

  • So happy with this little helper
My first pool robot and I love it, good suction, quiet and very easy to set and use

  • Pool is mostly clean
It does a good job until it gets its cord so twisted and then only does a small area. Untwisting the cord is aggravating because it seems to retweet very quickly

  • 7 months and running strong
The media could not be loaded. It is picking up a lot from the pool. Even small dirt when I use the super fine filter, which I think is a must. Today sent her to work harder because of the gale wind and without the screen pool that is been replaced it was a massacre in the pool. It did a great job but the wind still sending more leaves. No complain. I hope it last. I clean it thoroughly after each run and store inside * update July 2024... it has been 7 months and still is running strong. It already paid by itself as I fired the pool guy before getting it. With the super fine filter it really helps me to keep algae out of the pool, leaves, sand from the pavers, and whatever fall in the pool. I'm actually cleaning now the pool filter every 3 weeks instead of weekly and the pool is sparkling clean. I ran out once or twice daily in the pool. Very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • A big fail so far
I diligently read all the included materials—the warnings, quick start guide, etc.—before setting up the product. The instructions seemed straightforward: plug it in, place it in the water, turn it on, and it should start cleaning. However, after it shot an initial jet of water, it simply just stopped. The power supply indicator remained lit, but that was the extent of its activity. After fussing with it for a bit I reached out to their support line, hoping for a resolution, but the troubleshooting assistance was less thorough than what I had already attempted myself. They did offer to RMA the unit, but I declined. I purchased a new device, not expecting to receive a defective one right out of the box; I'm not interested in a refurbished model unless that's what I initially chose to buy. Update: Further efforts to troubleshoot involved manually adjusting the wheel/track, which only succeeded in making the device turn in circles. The left track doesn't move, and the brush hasn't functioned at all. I've checked for obstructions, and while one track operates as if motorized, the other either locks up or moves freely. This could indicate a disconnection from the motor or a mechanical fault. The brush also spins freely, appearing unconnected to any operational component, but it may just function by the suction from under the unit, however that would indicate that the suction is also failing if that's the case. I had high expectations for this electric model, anticipating an improvement in performance over the non-electric Zodiac MX6 we had for several years. Unfortunately, this was a big fail. I'm not sure what to do with this information. Do I really try the same Caymen model again? The circle that it managed to clean did look great. Do I even try Dolphin again? I decided against a battery robot, figured one that plugged in would be a better value, not having large battery components. Will update once we settle on a decision and see some results! Cheers! ... show more

  • Very pleased
Ordered a Cayman model and received a Premier model with three different filter options included. Appears to be an upgrade vs the Cayman. This is a replacement for the first Dolphin cleaner I had that lasted only three seasons due to a chemical imbalance in my pool at that time. The moving parts and especially the plastic bearings are susceptible to failure if the pool chemistry is wrong for too long; specifically water hardness and shocking the pool leaving the Dolphin is left in the water. Operator error. ... show more

  • Cleans good, cord makes it not fun
I thought I would review this after using it for some time. It does clean well. Nothing wrong with that - It does what I want it to do. The problem arises with what you can Google or search here. The tangled cord. This makes it a pain to use, and it makes me not want to clean my pool. It takes so much time to untangle each time I use it, and the tangles prevent it from cleaning the far corners of the pool. For how much money I spent on this the cord problem is unacceptable. I will be buying a different brand next time just for this reason. You have to go through it to understand. Deal breaker on this pool robot. ... show more

  • It cleans the pools, optional cycles and Bluetooth doesn’t work.
This robot will clean your pool well, a 15k Gallons will usually be cleaned with 2-3 hours. It does not work on steps or in the spa area so the spa needs to be vacuumed using your pool hose and you will need to brush the steps to push the dirt towards the flat bottom on pool so it cleans it. On mine I could not connect Bluetooth to use the app, could select a half cycle to do just the floors rather then wall and floors and could not click on the delay cleaning to get it cleaning past “X” hours. So it works, but not as promised and as other customers related their customer service is bad, they haven’t returned my email with any answer. ... show more
