    • A great introduction to the world of phone gimbals.
I got this as an upgrade from my Osmo Mobile 6, not realizing that DJI retooled the labels for this generation of gimbals. The Mobile 7P is the new flagship model, replacing the Mobile 6, while the Mobile 7 replaces the lower-end Mobile SE. This misunderstanding actually worked to my advantage. As a new user, I found the Mobile 6 had a little more of a learning curve than expected. There are so many buttons, and the on-screen controls in the app aren't terribly intuitive either. As a result, I ended up simply not using it in a couple situations where it could have been handy. Additionally, the Mobile 6 has a built-in extension pole, which means it can't be brought into venues that ban selfie sticks. That, too, limits its usefulness for me. And it doesn't have built-in tripod legs, which makes it less than ideal for stationary use in tight quarters. The Mobile 7 addresses these concerns. Removing the left-side knob made all the difference for me in terms of usability. I'm equally happy for the addition of tripod legs and the lack of a built-in selfie stick. In terms of performance, it's just as good at stabilizing bumpy action shots, and the tracking of moving subjects works just as well. And it's noticeably lighter than the 6, so not as tiring to use for the duration of a sports game. ... show more
