  • Perfect for first time YouTube creators - Worth the price!
This kit comes in a nice travel case that has a hard molded shell. The components were wrapped carefully and stored inside the case. It is easy to put assemble and just as easy to disassemble and put back into the case when done filming. The microphone works well. It came with connectors. However, be aware it doesn't have the converter required to connect to an iPhone 7 or higher. You'll need to provide the female to male connection to plug into the charge port on the newer iPhone. Thankfully, I had that and was able to use my microphone right away. The microphone comes with two covers. The LED light is bright and multi-colored for a more natural lighting. It's basic, but it does improve lighting if you don't have anything else. The handle is easy and comfortable to hold. It can also be removed so the gear can be screwed into a tripod. The phone holder expands very well to hold a wide range of mobile devices. I have an iPhone X Max and it was able to hold it in place without any issues. I also like that it has a level so I can be sure my videos aren't crooked. ... show more

  • No Learning Curve
Wow. I have a more expensive (with more hi-tech features) handheld apparatus to help with filming with my phone, but for all-around ease of use and quick connect-and-go (i.e., virtually zero learning curve), this rocks! The light is good for relatively close objects in the dark (which, with a small light source is appropriate - if you want to light a room, invest in additional, stand-alone lights). The microphone is excellent, as are the windscreens. I haven't taken it to small-venue music recording, yet, but based on recording music from live performances over my stereo, I'm extremely optimistic. No matter what, the sound is way better than the built in mike on my phone (which recorded well enough for some well-received YouTube posts). I can't wait to put this through its paces, but no matter what, it performs to every expectation I had and beyond. Even the complaint I've read about the small hand grip wasn't the least bit of a problem for me and I love that I can mount this on a tripod, as well. I highly recommend this! ... show more

  • Improvement over iPhoneXS; good value
The media could not be loaded. I purchased the Movo VXR50 (Smartphone Video Rig Kit V7), LPM100, & VXR10 to compare. The VXR50 (Smartphone Video Rig Kit V7) sounded the best although I would not say it's a slam dunk over the other two or even the iPhoneXS built-in mic… but it was better especially since the mic can be pointed to the subject unlike the iPhone's internal mic. The VXR50 appears well made and solid; it's also the longest of all three but is also the only that requires a battery which will undoubtedly go dead when it's most needed. I did not find this mic as a standalone product but only as part of the V7 kit. The bluetooth remote control included with the kit felt solid and worked very well with the iPhoneXS but needs to be manually paired every time the remote is turned on. The light was not useful—it has three brightness settings but feels like a flashlight pointed at my face so it was more annoying than an enhancement. The clamping phone holder looks nice and is capable of holding the iPhoneXS but anything bigger will either not fit or not feel secure. Everything comes in a nice zippered semi-hard case which I always appreciate even if I repurpose it for another use. I did not find the other accessories useful but maybe you will. The combined mic, remote, and holder make the price reasonable and I’m happy enough with this kit, that I will be keeping it. The LPM100 was my least favorite. The audio sounded artificial, like listening to speakers that are out of phase—if you close your eyes and listen, none of the sounds can be located—it’s all mish-mashed and ends up sounding like a blob. This flaw was enough for me to reject the LPM100. The second flaw was the lighting plug: while it did seat in my iPhoneXS with a medium thickness case, it did not feel secure, and if I was moving about, I would constantly worry that it would fall off, or if accidentally knocked around that it might break off. I don't think this is Movo's fault, just inherent in this kind of connection. I doubt modestly larger phone cases would allow the lighting plug to seat properly. The VXR10 was a slight improvement over the iPhoneXS internal microphone but for me, that small improvement is not worth the price and hassle of using the VXR10 while mobile. For recordings using a tripod, the sounds was an improvement since the iPhone's mic is pointed perpendicular to the subject while the VXR10 (like most external mics) is pointed directly to the subject. This was the only mono (non stereo) mic in my comparison although many professionals believe stereo sound is not required for vlogging or youtube. The mic was packaged well and looks durable. I would easily pick this mic over the LPM100. If cost was a large factor, I would also pick this over the VXR50. The attached video demonstrates the sound. All recordings were done on the same day, in the same environment, and at the same distance. The audio has not been enhanced or adjusted for the video (no level boosts/cuts). The finger snaps are for testing the stereo separation of the mics. All equipment was purchased on Amazon at the same time. ... show more

  • Great product. Great price!
I’ve been looking for accessories that turn my iPhone into a cinematic camera. This set is top-shelf quality. I love the little details such a the level and that you can adjust to the size of your camera. It also lets you shot in portrait or landscape mode with little effort. The grip is nice and has heft to it. Nice touch adding the strap. The whole kit is easy to set up and came with the battery for the micro phone. Everything in this kit is made very well and lightweight. The hardcover carrying case has a storage compartment for cables. Super nice product and great value for the money. ... show more

  • actually isnt a piece of junk
I got this kit, it was ez to setup. Battery instructions for mic need to be explained, but I was about to figure it out. Mic does well on my samsung s 9 for quality. Led light goes bright and is rechargable. The stand to hold is small but thats what a tripod connection is for so i wont complain. Windguard is good. So i say its a great buy for budget filmers ... show more

  • The microphone turns on the power light but doesn't seem to make any sound, no device recognizes
The microphone turns on the power light but doesn't seem to make any sound, no device recognizes it, you only hear the audio that the device receives but not the microphone. The kit seems to be of good quality, but it is useless if some things in the kit don't work. I contacted the seller without getting an answer in case I need some kind of cable, software, amplifier or whatever to make it work since it seems to be plug and play but without the microphone it is practically a useless kit. I bought the kit used, but it is supposed to work, since it doesn't say that some things don't work. I put that rating because it does not work, and the seller does not respond. If the seller contacts me and gives me an answer, I may modify my rating since in general it seems to be of good quality. ... show more
