    • Nice wood file Cabinet, with a few caveats

I picked this up to help organize my office and was pleasantly impressed. Once assembled it fit quite nicely in the spot where my old metal file cabinet stood providing additional space for books and a printer. The item arrived in good condition and well packaged. Assembly took about an hour and 30 minutes. The provided directions were skimpy but easy enough to understand even if your only slightly handy with tools. For this project I would suggest a decent philips head screwdriver and most definitely do not use a power drill. The manufacture does include a screwdriver but it is very small and will quickly become tiresome to use. Because the material is pressboard it is very important one takes his or her time threading in the screws. Over tightening is guaranteed to strip out the pre-drilled holes. Same goes for installing the railings for the drawers. You need to ensure the screws are inserted in straight. If they go in at an angle you run the risk of the causing the drawers to stick or drag when opening and closing. It also help to have an open area to spread out all the parts to make assembly easier. For a sub 100 dollar cabinet you really cannot go wrong. Just remember to take your time, read the instructions thoroughly, and enjoy the added space and storage. ... show more

    • Perfect size, exactly the size I wanted

I really don't want to discuss assembly, not after reading the reviews and seeing the astonishing success of others. Name a mistake and yes, I did that. I read the instructions completely (except the last page evidently) and I laid out the pieces carefully and began. And began again. And again. Took a few days to clear my muddled irritated head and tried again. Yes, I assembled it upside down, wondered why the drawer side was on THAT side... yes that was the beginning of a series of unfortunate events including upside down drawer glides... on and on... ALL my fault and so doggone dumb... Page 8- those little random plastic things that IMO at the time "well those can't do much" - YES, they DO much, they add a tremendous amount of stability and if I was a Rocket scientist or an astronaut I might have figured it out but I'm clearly a potato. Review- it's a nice looking cart and holds my Printer/Phone/Modem and saves a vast amount of real estate which was the plan at the outset. Would I buy it again- 100% yes, yes I would. It's never going to be a treasured hand me down but it's a very good and functional piece of furniture.     • Good for the price, much cursing while assembling
This may be a good piece of furniture, but as a former contractor for 30 years who has built everything from houses to multi-story condos and offices, and assembled hundreds of knock down furniture items, the instructions were a little lacking. When it came to the bottom drawer slides on PAGE 7 (NOT step 7), they were not marked properly or even drawn accurately, making it very difficult to understand. I finally looked at photos others posted to figure out how to mount the tracks. Also, the tracks were somewhat flimsy, and one of the ball bearing sets came out of the silver retainer on the left track, making it impossible for the extension track to go in. I finally spotted the two out of place ball bearings, coaxed them back into their holes then used a flat putty blade and hammer to tap the track down flat again, then it worked. The lady that wrote about the bottom drawer tracks having to be Gorilla glued was correct. the screws are tiny and particle board weak and thin, so they are not going to stay screwed in. I may even hot melt glue the tracks to the wood sides. Also the little white wedge clips that they give you to install in all the corners on the back panel are a little ridiculous. I used a framing square and hot glued the seams and it's now square and solid. The shelf needs snap clips that hold it in place once installed so it doesn't flip up in the air and dump the contents all over the floor. Packaging was great. The box arrived with the tape partially torn open, one corner chewed off of it by wild dogs, and covered with Amazon tape, and I was totally expecting the contents to be damaged, but got lucky, and none were, so 5 stars on packaging.     • Perfect compact addition to home office!
Had to set up a home office space and needed a small cabinet with drawers and printer space. This item totally fits the bill. It is sturdier than I thought it would be, has spacious supply/misc drawers, good file drawers, and 2 ample shelves. Assembly took a while, but I got there in the end and the drawers align perfectly and function as needed, including holding hanging letter files. I have assembled a lot of furniture in my life, and this one took longer than most but you just have to go slow and take your time. Pretty easy to fix “mistakes” during assembly and one person can assemble solo. Wanted to comment on that for anyone who might get discouraged seeing all the pieces and hardware. I honestly was pleasantly surprised at how well the drawers aligned with the tracks and open smoothly. Anyone who’s assembled like items before knows this can be an issue, so know that this is not an issue with this piece. If I had the space, I would not hesitate to order another unit and add to my office. ... show more

    • Very frustrating to assemble

I would rate this a zero if I could. I tried to put this shelf together and it is awful. I followed all of the directions correctly and none of the holes were threaded properly to fix the nails. There is no way you could build this with the screwdriver that was provided. The only way I could get any of the nails in was using a power drill. A bunch of the pieces are lopsided and the desks looks awful. The pieces for the drawers did not line up and I had to buy glue to try and even hold it together. I will never buy a shelf from here again. Putting it together was extremely frustrating and not worth my time at all for how it looked. I never want to see this desk again. Now I have to try and get rid of it without having to disassemble the entire thing ... show more
