    • Great little player for traveling!
I have had this DVD player for a year now and love it. We have a family vacation cabin, but our TV and DVD player got stolen, twice. We didn't want to keep replacing them and giving the thieves continued incentive to keep breaking into the house just to steal them (there wasn't much else of value inside), so we switched to traveling with a DVD player and small projector instead. It works great! The player connects to our projector via the HDMI cable and has no problem correctly displaying the format for our new and old DVDs. Just plug and play! It's also really easy to take out of the box and put away without struggling to fit everything back in the box because the box has enough room for all the pieces and a little wiggle room. We've found that having the portable player and projector also means we can take it all kinds of places and then watch shows wherever on a large "screen" (a white wall or sheet work fine!). I sometimes wish we could make the volume go higher, but that might be a limitation of our projector that produces the sound and not the DVD player's fault (different DVDs seem to have different default volumes when playing on this player). I wanted a DVD player for our camper. This DVD player does the job! It is easy to hook up and easy to take apart and put away. Very light weight and the box is small. The TV in the Rockwood GEO Pro FDS 2024 does not come with a DVD player... I didn't realize they changed this TV option. This DVD player is perfect to sit on the ledge under the TV. My only "complaint", which is my own fault, is that it does not play Blueray DVDs. It showed this in the "about product" but I never paid any attention! It isn't the end of the world though, as I only have three or so Blu-ray dvds! For the price, quality, size---- 10/10. ... show more

    • Do you actually watch DVDs
I bought this for a person a generation older than me. There are these physical shiny discs that people keep in their physical possession. They prefer this arrangement. The physical disc holds just enough data to store one average length movie, therefore these people apparently own several discs - each with its own content. Well it turns out that you have to purchase a specialty device to decode this data and display output that can be viewed on a screen. OK that's where this device becomes relevant. It is fully capable of decoding these fragile and costly old-timey discs and displaying a movie or other content to a compatible screen. Now this "Mini DVD" player is indeed small as evidenced by the thumbnail image depicting a person holding it with just one hand. I can confirm that this is true to life. This will allow you to relocate or travel with the device with relative ease. This generally paints a picture of a device that functions well for its intended purpose. Do however note the following: The included remote works perfectly when a disc is physically resident in the machine. However, depending on placement, configuration and connection to the displaying device, you may be required to physically move your location to the device itself in order to remove a disc and then install a new one. In the case of a particularly long movie, you may not be able to watch that movie in its entirety without removing one disc and then inserting another disc which contains the second half of that movie. This will be odd and unintuitive to some but likely perfectly reasonable to the demographic that is familiar with this workflow. In summary, this device is well made, portable, and will likely please its purchasing demographic. ... show more

This device is muzzle tough for such a small, fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand device. I was quite shocked at how small it is and even more surprised by how excellent it works. It’s easy to connect to your TV once you have an extra HDMI port on your TV. Just connect the AC adapter, HDMI cable, and put two triple A batteries in the remote control and you’re ready to play a DVD or CD. Don’t forget to put the TV on the HDMI input. The picture is clear, the device works perfectly, and it’s easy to operate. I still have a lot of DVD and tired of playing Amazon Prime to watch old movies I have on DVD. So, if you have a lot of old DVDs and are a cheapskate like me, get this device, you won’t regret it. ... show more

I bought this player to use it as a sort of Discman, and because it works on standard 5V. It does the job at both and more. It's compact and easy to set up. The manufacture is not its highest selling point (the volume "wheel", which is actually a button, is kinda awkward), but for a light use, I don't think it gives any problem. This little DVD player has worked great for three months straight. We use it daily to watch Logic lessons but our luck has run out. After three months it has completely stopped working with no picture and the only sound is a loud clicking sound. It was definitely a waste of money. I bought this mini DVD-CD player for my camper van. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Easy to set up and took not time at all. Picture is clear and sharp. The unit fits perfect in the small overhead compartment made for TV setups. Now to see how long it will hold up to traveling around.
