Ordered this Come Along Winch 2T/4400Lbs - Heavy Duty Winch with 2m/6.5ft Steel Cable - 2 Hooks to use in my shop to help me install new tracks that I just purchased for my excavator. Had no help and doing it alone of which made it difficult for one person as these are heavy tracks. I wanted this winch/come along to help me install the tracks. I parked the excavator on level gravel parking lot, close to a large oak tree. I used tractor to pull tracts up beside excavator and lifted up one end of track w/ boom pole with tractor to drive sprocket, to hook track over sprocket, then hooked this come along to opposite end of track, hooked it to oak tree and slowly winched it up tight to stretch it out to front roller idler at an angle pulling toward idler. Finally got it in the right spot. Started excavator, slowly turned left drive sprocket forward, and it slipped onto the whole sprocket and the roller idler. I was a happy camper!. Did the same process to other side, and got both tracks on excavator ONLY because I had this come along winch to help and do most of the heavy pulling. I like the slow smooth ratcheting and the 6'+ cable. The only complaints I have is (in my opinion) the quality control department needs to have the winch "arm lever" honed/ground off of lever handle as the edges are razor sharp with burrs. I feel like this is a "medium duty" winch, not a heavy duty one. Other than the above, I feel it's a decent economical winch/come along. ... show more

Straight out of the box, the cable was jammed in the metal guide that's supposed to keep it on the reel. This is not made to strict tolerances, and there were loose bolts, and shoddy workmanship all around. I managed to get the cable back onto the reel, tightened up some lose fasteners and applied some light oil to the reel's axle. The ratchet is quite crudely made, but still manages to be serviceable.
