On a 2014 Mazda 3 i have one « cigarette lighter » aka « 12V accessory plug » that is always on. That’s where I plug this, connected to some CTEK extensions and going to the charger. Works great for me. The wire quality doesn’t look great on all the CTEK cables. Kind of stuff and thin. Hard to describe. But their chargers are top of the line and this can help keep your car battery topped off and in great shape (lead acid batteries life degrade when they go below 50% charge). The connector on the cable for their proprietary cables is great. Water proof and clicks in place. You can close the car door with the wire in, that’s not a problem. ... show more

    • Useful Addition/Accessory for CTEK Battery Maintenance Charger CTEK - 40-206 MXS 5.0 and Others
I purchased this adapter to enable use of my CTEK - 40-206 MXS 5.0 Battery Maintenance Charger via the cigarette lighter socket in my European car. Much easier and convenient than having to lift the hood to access the battery terminals or jump start terminals. Quality is excellent, although I think the price is a bit too steep. If you are thinking of doing this, first make certain that your vehicle's cigarette lighter circuit [auxiliary power outlet] is "hot" [energized] when the ignition switch is off, and preferably also still energized when the vehicle is locked. In my car, the socket remains energized for a few minutes after the car is shut off, even if the doors are locked., but if the charger socket is not soon connected to the battery maintenance charger, the socket will become "dead" [disconnected or shutoff from the rest of the vehicle's electrical system]. ... show more

If you plan to use a CTEK battery tender and do it easy for connect/desconnect, the loption is to use a cigarette ligther receptacle inside the cabin; instead of the only included option with any CTEK tender of supply only a connector to be used directly to the battery, which is located under the hood (or for some models inside the trunk). That's mean every time the hood/trunk need to be open (and let "semi-open" to avoing kink the cable) wich is impractical (at least in my case) as the hood of my car is very tight and if keep open, a indication in the dashoboard keep on. So this cigarette plug adapter is a must for "practicality" if you want to connect easy your CTEK to keep in top condition the battery of your sport car. The only thing is, as I said in the title, this plug adapter should be included with the CTEK Battery Charger, and not as an additional accesory. All in all recommended to spend a few bucks more with this and make life easy. ... show more

This plug works great when plugged into the outlet in the passenger side footwell in our Porsche 991. I was using a Porsche-labeled CTEK battery maintainer that came with a "cigarette" plug, but that maintainer would not automatically resume charging when the power was interrupted. I'm using this plug with my new CTEK MXS 5.0 which does resume charging properly after a power interruption. Another reviewer mentioned that the red adapter on the plug came off in his outlet. So far I have not had that problem, my adapter is very hard to remove. ... show more
