I got this to compliment my full size Cricut Air2 Explorer. Often, I am making something small and don't need to have the big cutter out. This is perfect for those times. It fits perfectly in my sewing hutch, in a niche with a pull-out shelf that looks like it was made for my Cricut Joy Xtra. Now this is a good time to explain that is this the Cricut Joy Xtra - not the Cricut Joy. This machine has extra features - hence the name, lol. The thing this machine can do that the original Joy cannot do is ... make stickers. There may be more, but that is the one thing that stands out for me. I have already used it to make a shirt for work. To support an awareness month, our agency bought t-shirts they wanted us to wear. They were not my style mainly because they had words on them and I hate walking around with words on my chest, lol. So, I made my own using the Joy Xtra, and got so many compliments. It was so much easier to do on the Joy Xtra because I only was making a few small hearts and not a big full-size iron-on transfer. It's small and I only needed to make six small hearts of different colors. This was great because I didn't have to set up my bigger machine. It was brand new, came packaged perfectly. it came with some material samples: a couple variety pack rolls of vinyls and then some very pretty card stock. It also included two mats: a cardstock mat - which you really need if you are using cards. A standard sticky vinyl cutting mat will tear your card stock when you try to lift it. You need the special card stock cutting mat and this set includes it. When I got my full-size cricut, it included MANY extra items but didn't include a card stock cutting mat. My first attempt to cut a card was sadly unsuccessful. It doesn't include weeding tools but you can get those for pretty cheap at any discount store or online. My original purchase of the full-size Cricut didn't include weeding tools either. I bought some weeding tools with lights at the tip and love those, so it worked best that i got my own tools anyway. To use this, you need to download the Cricut Design Space software and set up an account. It's necessary and it's free. But there is a paid subscription option as well. I have gone back and forth from using the paid subscription version of the program and the free version. You decide what works best for you but understand that you do need the Design Space to use your Joy Xtra. Because i already have Design Space set up, all I had to do was get my computer's Bluetooth to pair with the Joy and it was good to go. If you are wondering if you need a Joy Xtra, if you already have a full-size Cricut, just let me point out that this takes up SO much less space for all the full-size things it can do. I love my full-size, but have had times where I wanted to make something but didn't want to drag it out and clear a space on my desk for it. And I had no space large enough that I could leave it out full time where it's easily accessible. The Joy Xtra is literally, at this moment, sitting on a small slide-out shelf on my sewing hutch, plugged in and ready to go. Its small size makes it an entirely different machine for people with space concerns. it really has been a game changer for me, and I didn't realize how much it would be until I put it on the shelf and saw it was going to be ready to cut at ALL times. ... show more

I ordered this specifically for the machine and tools- the tools were not included. Instead it was some cards and envelopes, which are nice but not what I was expecting. Slightly disappointed, the machine and everything is brand new and I’m excited for that, just not as described as a bundle.

I didn't listen to the other reviewers. I bought the Vinyl Starter Kit ($279 at the time) and received the Ultimate Starter Kit ($269). The printer is amazing, don't get me wrong. Canon and Epson could learn something from Cricut on how easy it is to get setup and working. However, not a fan of paying what I did for a cheaper bundle. This is my first foray into the cricut world and I have dove headfirst down the crafting rabbit hole. First off: all accessories arrived in perfect condition. Nothing was missing- and what was offered was a good variety for someone starting out. It’s definitely a learning curve to figure out all the capabilities of this new “toy”, but the DS was intuitive/ helpful and Pinterest has given me so many neat ideas/ access to free fonts/designs. The model works wonderfully. No issues with setup! Very lightweight/portable. I have already ordered a cute bag for it to into that can also hold accessories. If you love to make stickers/monograms and other smaller projects this will be the perfect fit for you. It’s a great value for what you get.
