When I decided to start coloring my hair myself to save money, I remembered that my grandmother had always used a bonnet dryer when she dyed her hair. Heat helps the hair absorb the color better, and this uniy was affordable at $35, so I decided to give it a try. This dryer is very similar to the old-school models, but small and light. The ones my older relatives used were huge and took up a ton of closet space. This, however, is about the size of a cereal box. My medium/fine hair has been anywhere from short to shoulder-length, and the bonnet has accommodated my hair plus a microfiber turban towel with plenty of room to spare. I can't speak to how well it would dry wet hair, but I have run it off and on for up to 4 hours while bleach, dye, or henna sets, and it has worked perfectly. There are 3 heat settings and they have a distinct temperature difference ranging from slightly warm to what feels like the same amount of heat my hand blowdryer generates. The noise level is also similar to a hand blowdryer. Other reviewers have had the following issues that I think were user error: 1. Bonnet disconnecting from hose: When attaching the hose, twist until you feel/hear a firm click. There is a point where it feels like it has twisted as far as it can go, but turn it just a smidge farther. Once it clicks, it will not come loose. 2. Hose won't fit inside the case: Use the drawstring to cinch the hose up as short as it will go and secure the bead next to the hose so the drawstring stays tight. The compacted hose will fold right into the case. 3. The power cord is short: This is true, but the cord also needs to be able to fit inside the case. I use the dryer while sitting in my cozy chair, and there is an outlet right beside it. The cord is plenty long to use the dryer like this. Or if someone really can't sit within 4 feet of an outlet, they could easily use an extension cord. Hopefully this dryer will continue to perform the way it does now and I can keep saving money by playing Beauty Shop at home! ... show more

This hair dryer works beautifully with regard to drying hair, and leaves hair very soft with no static. It is small in size for traveling, lightweight and the hose is easily put back into the unit using a pull string built into the hose that works well. Nice heat settings, from hot to cool (three settings). The bonnet is the right size to go over rollers (there isn't enough room in the storage unit for the hose and bonnet though) I would give it a 5-star rating if it weren't for the incredibly poor design on the hook-up from the hose to the bonnet. Such a good hair dryer design other than this hook up. It is extremely annoying because the hose disconnects from the bonnet with the slightest movement of your head. I regularly must reconnect it at least five times each sitting. There are two very little plastic tabs at the end of the hose on each side that are pushed into slots in the bonnet connector plate and turned to right or left to hold in place; those plastic tabs are very small and just pop out of the connector plate no matter where the bonnet connector plate is turned. This is the worst design of any hose-to-bonnet connector I have every seen--and I have had at least 6-7 bonnet hair dryers over 50 years. I haven't returned it simply because there are so few bonnet hair dryers on the market, and the one I purchased before this one sounded as loud as a truck motor in my bedroom. The motor unit on this Conair one is so nicely designed I chose to put up with the aggravation of the bonnet disconnecting regularly and just try not to move my head. When those little plastic tabs on the hose end wear out, which I anticipate to happen within a year or two, I hope Conair is respectable enough to have fixed this miserably poor part of this hair dryer. ... show more

Granted, this is not as heavy duty as the bonnet hair dryers of years ago, but this is the best one I have found. Make sure you carefully insert the hose into the bonnet and twist it with force to click it in place. Once you do that, it will not come apart. I leave the bonnet attached to the hose at all times and do not put the hose back into the case unless I am traveling with it. The bonnet is large enough to go over large rollers. I turn the dryer on and let the bonnet heat up for a moment before putting it on. It is much easier that way. My shoulder length hair on rollers dries in 30-35 minutes, with the hose in the back. The bonnets do wear out, but Conair sells replacements. I paid $4.96 for one in 2021. ... show more

I disliked a lot more than I liked. So, what I liked: 1. it dried my hair. 2. It was delivered quickly and all parts were present. What I disliked: 1. Even with the cord extended as far as it would go, the hood opening was not comfortably large enough to go over my head without snagging the curlers in place. It tore out a few curlers just trying to get the hood on over them. 2. The locking mechanism is a joke. The hose kept falling out so many times I felt extremely frustrated. If I hadn't been over a barrel for time, I would have stuffed it all back in the box immediately and never used it. 3. Storage box is only big enough to store the hose and cord, leaving the hood and brush attachments with nowhere to be stored. 4. The housing is so lightweight that it doesn't stay put unless it's right up against you and on a surface that's right next to you and at the height of your elbow. The housing needs a little weight to it to make it easier to use. It dried my hair, only after a very frustrating experience trying to use it. Really not pleased with this at all and am hoping the box hasn't been thrown away yet so I can return it and get something else a little less lightweight and has storage big enough for all the attachments. ... show more
