I have always had the best luck with the Conair brand. All the Conair hair dryers I have purchased in the past, have lasted more than ten years. I've tried other brands varying from cheaper to much more expensive, and none of the other brands have lasted more than six months to a year. My last Conair is still working (12 years old?), but it's starting to get a little wonky, so I thought I would try this one. I like the retractable cord. It's bigger than my last Conair travel-sized dryer, but I like that you can fold it for travel. I also like the simple, nothing-fancy two heat/air settings. And I think the price is reasonable. Although the buttons and operation of folding and retracting cord are a little stiff, I believe in this brand and hope this one will also last ten years. ... show more

    • Close, But Not Exactly As Advertised

I’ve had this hair dryer for a few months now and like it but wish I’d gotten a different model, but that’s my peculiarity, perhaps. I love the high/full heat—good power at 1875. The size and weight are fine but the hard sell on the retractable power cord and “foldable” construction…well, not so great. I’ve tried several “methods” to retract the power cord. CAVEAT: I have found that you should stand, hold the dryer overhead and let the cord dangle, in order to get the maximum retraction. Trust me: I’ve tried laying out the cord, perfectly straight and it retracts only about 75%, when you press the black retract button. Then, you have to pull the cord back out about 6”/15cm and press the retract button again, and do this again and again, until you give up. My other regret is that this model not only didn’t come with a nozzle, I have bought one that with a soft rubber connector, that will give you directed heat, but you cannot use it on high, as the connector gets overheated very quickly. On the plus side, it works well and quickly for short hair styling with plenty of power to spare. When you turn the power off, it goes off and cools quickly. I like it but had to adapt to be compatible with each other. ... show more

Although I love the hair dryer, the retractable cord stopped working altogether within 2 months. It's as though the "button " doesn't even work. It does not retract at all. This is the second one that I've bought. The first one only retracted halfway after awhile. I had that one for a few years,and then the dryer stopped working. ... show more

I bought this blow dryer because I had the exact one before which lashed 10 years of being kept in my bathroom cabinet (used 6x a week) or thrown into a bag when traveling. I accidentally dropped my old blow dryer from about 2 feet off the ground while using and it turned off and wouldn’t turn on again no matter if I reset the buttons on the plug. It’s smaller than many others available but what I like most is that the handle folds and it has a retractable cord. This-like the smaller size-is wonderful when traveling. The cord isn’t as long as I’d like it to be but I understand extending the length would offset the girth of the handle it retracts into. When pushing the retract button, you’ll have to guide the last 6 inches or so back into the handle. It’s really not much to complain about and a rather small price to pay for the convenience of not having to bother w a long cord especially when packing/traveling. There’s also a cool shot button which comes in very handy when you need a quick cool off. It saves me from standing in front of the oscillating fan for a few minutes. The blow dryer has 3 speeds and does a very good job of drying even though it’s not a full size dryer. I have very long, thick hair and this dryer cut my 20 minute drying time by 5 minutes. I know it doesn’t sound like much but anyone whom dries their hair on a consistent basis knows cutting down your blow drying time by 5 minutes is extremely helpful. I was lucky enough to buy this blow dryer while on sale for $18.99. I highly recommend this to anyone especially those w small hands or whom doesn’t like to hold heavy dryers. Hopefully this one will last as long as my other one-if not longer! + I’ll update w any pertinent info ... show more

    • Retractable Cord? Not so much.

The product dries my hair just fine. But, as others have suggested, trying to get the cord to retract into the body of the dryer is a bit like trying to start an old outboard motor engine. No matter how, and how often, I pull the cord, it never works quite right. I'm always left with a foot of cord hanging out of the dryer handle. I thought about returning it for a replacement, but suspect that the outcome would be the same. Despite the section of cord that hangs out, it's better than having to bundle the cord separately. ... show more
