Most of these negative reviews complain about this pillow being too firm. Watch the video that discusses removing stuffing. I needed something to prop against my bed to allow me to sleep semi upright after shoulder surgery. Yes, this is very firm & the arms come more out to the side. I opened up the back per the video & removed about 2 13-gallon trach bags of the foam from the center. Then I was able to position 2 soft pillows in between the arms and sink into a very comfortable nest allowing me to be at the right angle and on my back (which I hate) for the required 2 weeks until my sling came off. Very well made. The company might consider offering firm or soft instead of making me customize. ... show more

First, I love that the cover is soft and seems durable and well-constructed. Next, it arrived super flat but began puffing up rather quickly. Right away, I noticed a VERY strong chemical smell. I stuck it in another room for three days and hoped it would go away. It did. I no longer smell even a trace of it. I chose this pillow over otherd because of the chunks of filler. I figured it would be easier for me to plump into a comfu shape I needed. However, this is over-stuffed and very firm. There is no give to it. I wonder if I remove some of the stuffing if it would be more comfortable? Also, in the photo, the model can prop her arms on the armrests. Nope. No can do. They splay out in opposite directions, and they're rather short. On the other hand, the armrests are so firm, that I can scrunch my pillow over it so it's great for reading in bed on my side. But that totally defeats the purpose of me wanting to sit up in bed. So, I'm just really conflicted about this really heavy bed pillow. ... show more
