    • A great tool to have when you least expect it
I can't tell you how many times I've been "barely stuck." That kind of "stuck" when your vehicle needs just a smidgen of push or pull to get you out. Several of those times, I was able to dislodge myself from a small patch of mud or ice with the help of a come-along. It takes just a couple minutes to set one up if you have a bit of rope or a tow strap, but it'll nearly always get you out from those "barely stuck" moments. I've also used a come-along to tension woven wire fencing by attaching to a 2x4 and a tree or a tow hitch. More recently, I used one to pull a small dent out of the bumper of my work truck. This come-along appears to be well made and the lever operates well enough. I haven't had the occasion to use it yet, but it's tucked away in my truck, waiting for the day it's called on to help move a fallen tree from a forest road. ... show more

    • Pull... don't lift!
So this is a consumer/homeowner tool that should not really be used for professional rigging applications. It's good to get that warning out there at the very start. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to SLOWLY drag something that is heavy (but not TOO heavy) then this is the kind of tool you will need. It's not what I would call rugged enough for daily use. If you occasionally need something like this, then this will do for a pretty small price relative to professional rigging tools. But make NO mistake about this, this come-along should absolutely, positively NEVER be used for lifting no matter what it's rated. It includes a strap that should also not be used for lifting. The tool itself operates well when used within it's limits. It feels a little flimsy at the upper range of its capabilities, and with a load on it the release mechanism is pretty stiff and honestly a little scary. Like I said, as a home owner tool, this can have its uses, but respect that it's not a professional rigging tool... and it costs WAY less than a pro tool as well. ... show more

This is my fourth come-a-long that I have owned. I let people borrow them and never see it again. This is one of those tools that are always nice to have on hand, especially if you don't have some one to help you. First time I have seen a double paw on a handle before. Still a single paw on the holding latch. The one thing I dislike about this is the manufacturer uses "E" clips on the pins (hard to find and replace). I would of liked to see Cotter pins and I might change it at some point. 90% of the time I will not be using the pulley with this so I have more length. ... show more

    • Drive pawl spring is tight
The spring on the drive pawl is tight, making it difficult to change direction. I hope this will loosen up with use. The Come Along is a force multiplying tool, giving you the ability to move objects way beyond your strength.

We use this puller to pull the lawn mowers on to our trailer when they don’t run. It works great and is easy to use. It is made nice and saves your back. Well worth the money.
