I tried this product first in the Burgundy color, and it covered all my gray and lasted a really long time. But I didn't like the color that much (too purply). So I switched to the Cool Brown and now the Medium Brown. These colors are okay, but they don't cover my gray hair completely. However, it turns some of my gray hair into a kind of golden color, which I actually like, so it's good for me. But if your looking to turn your stubborn gray hair to brown, it might not work that well. It really needs to be used montly, but I stretch it to every two months, since I hate coloring my hair. ^^ I really like this product because it is gentler on the hair than permanent hair colors, so I will keep using this product. ... show more

Used this brand for many years to help hide gray roots. Easy to use and liked the way my hair felt after use. This product did not seem to cause any damage for the many years I used it. I now have more grays and have switched to Clairol Nice and Easy as I am finding I need more longer lasting gray coverage now. I would recommend the Natural Instincts if you don’t have too many grays as the ingredients are more gentle for your hair health and it gives you great color and blends the grays if you need that. ... show more

Color: 7A Dark Cool Blonde Size: 5.85 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
...you can leave this on longer so it will cover gray better. This is less damaging than permanent color. I use the dark ash blond for my light brown and blond and grey hair. I like the gentler smell of this color. I am sensitive to scents and this is very tolerable. It will appear a bit dark at first, but to get better coverage I have to leave on for 45 minutes. If you don't want that, go with permanent color like perfect 10. Their dark blond is warmer, but I like that formula and can tolerate the scent. I recommend natural instincts if you have never colored your hair before. Go a shade lighter or a shade very close to your hair color and follow the directions. If this works for you, great. But to cover my very white gray I have to leave it on longer. The color is very good for me. Do not be afraid to try it. Don't go too dark, err on the side of being too light, you can go darker next time if you wish. The color is very natural and so pretty. Limit the use of heat tools for longer lasting color. Shampoo less often if you can. Otherwise plan to use often to cover those roots. You do not want yellow or orange roots. A color is too warm if this happens. And we all know what white roots look like! With a hair color like this, you can get that youthful hair color back. I only use only at front hairline and the crown of my head to blend in with previously colored hair. I use a wide-toothed comb to ensure color is getting down to the root. Use as much as you and, don't skimp where you are applying it to saturate each strand. I also make sure my hair is free of hairspray, mousse, gel, etc. for best results. You don't have to, but it is best. Please do not stop making this. I also have sensitive skin and make sure to rinse it well. Do not color when you are in a hurry. I also use a microfiber towel on my hair. Save your best white towels for your body or your guests. I cannot emphasize how easy it is to use this color. When you color your hair regularly, you will get very good at it. Wipe up spilled hair color immediately. Don't get it on clothing, walls, bath rugs, etc. I sit in bathroom and play games on my phone to pass the time. I have no stress about it, it is just part of my routine. Good luck. ... show more

Back when I was 30% gray, 6A was my go-to semipermanent color. I loved it and used it for years, but during COVID I let my hair totally wash out, and then later just grow out. But 6A was a perfect match for light ashy brown. I'm about 60%gray now. I decided to try it again... I tried 6A (darker vertical, right image) and also something kinda fun maybe... 7A to hopefully add some blonde highlights to the gray (left image) Swatches are 25 minutes of 7A, and 6A, from the gray-est hairs, showing some representative strands of my natural gray and natural mousey ash brown. Both are red..6A is a little better in the image but really in just about all other lighting it's "red". Not the 6A I remembered! I really like this color - my natural hair color is medium to dark brown and this adds a reddish shade (not bright red, more like a medium auburn). Also wanted to thank the vendor for how well they packaged the product for shipping - I ordered three and they came in a sturdy box, with bubble wrap around them (and the boxes were also wrapped in case something might burst or leak during shipping). In the past I had ordered this product from Walmart one time and the vendor shipped it in a lightly bubbled envelope instead of a box, so when I opened the package the product box was all beat up and really damaged and I had to send it back. ... show more

Was expecting a shade lighter than what I got. I am naturally a dark ash blonde with a few grays. Just wanted to blend gray but stay at same shade range. I was hesitant after reading reviews that it turned hair black, green, or too brassy/red. But this product worked for me—however, it is medium/dark brown, not light brown. I mainly used it to cover up blonde highlights and it worked well for that. It does not last 28 washes, I’d estimate probably more like 15 (so if you wash 3 times a week it will last 5 weeks). I suggest using the dark cool blonde if you want to get a light brown color since this is not that. ... show more
