  • Nascar delay is a legit analog delay
Color: Dark Green
I own 3 variations of these Horse branded pedals now, and I decided to change my review to talk about the most intriguing one. The nascar delay. Being a pedal builder myself, and having built several analog delays, I was really curious if this BBD delay had actual bucket brigade chips in it. Turns out that it does! It has two MN3208’s which will give you around 300ms of total delay time. I can’t say for certain but, I’m willing to bet that this is a clone of the Joyo branded nascar delay albeit, some slight differences. First off, this pedal has mostly surface mount components compared to the joyo’s through hole. That’s no big deal and has no effect on sound or tone. The second difference is the delay chips. The Joyo version uses V3205 BBDs vs. the MN3208s in this one. That doesn’t really affect sound and tone but, it does mean this version has about half of the delay time of the Joyo version. Another thing I noticed is that out of the box, the repeats were kinda distorted. That’s pretty indicative that the delay chips weren’t biased properly so I don’t think the manufacturer spends a whole lot of time setting these up. At least this one anyway. Since I had a couple of Coolaudio V3205’s in my inventory, I threw them in this pedal, gave it the Boss DM-2 calibration treatment, and voila! It sounds so much better and has a lot more delay time. Now, if you think you can buy this delay, tear it apart, and just swap the chips, you’d be mistaken. It requires adjustment to the trimpots to get everything sounding and working properly. You need to understand how the circuit works and at the very least, have and know how to use, an audio probe. Best to use an oscilloscope and signal generator. Overall, I’m really impressed with this delay. After a BBD swap and proper adjustments, it’s even more impressive. ... show more

  • Horse US Dream pedal is awesome
This Horse brand US Dream pedal is phenomenal and the price is great. Gives an unbelievable great tone and crunch that can give you any kind of classic rock sound all the way up to AC/DC hard rock sound. Highly recommended.

  • Sounds good LED busted
Pedal sounds good, does a unique low gain sound too that I like. Not exactly like a Mesa Boogie amp but it’s cool. Problem is that the led light doesn’t work. Would love one that does

  • Insanely good deal, but also cheaply made
Color: Blue(Big)
This is the budget clone of the Joyo Taichi which is a clone of Love Pedal/Hermida Zendrive which is a clone itself of the Dumble custom built amp Overdrive Special. Considering its $15 dollars theres no suprise in plastic D style pot posts, cheap knobs as well and basic enclosure design. The part that can be a deal breaker for people without a Noise Gate pedal or EQ pedal is amped up even to a clean 40w Roland practice Amp users will experience a noise floor even with humbucker pickups, i use a gate and an eq and either one can fix it instantly. 10/10 for value, great tone but could of charged us $2 more for some better singal path design to eliminate the noise. ... show more

  • Extreme Metal !
Color: purple(big)
I'm using this on a small 20 watt solid state amp on the clean channel. The sound will vary depending on the amp . My amp has a built in mid scoop feature and I have that set to mid scoop , it seems to enhance the gain more than scoop the mids though. I find that this pedal is exceptional for metal , probably the best I've used with this amp . I have the pedal's boost feature on at all times and EQ the dials accordingly. I can grab pinch harmonics almost on accident , it's so hot sounding . It also has a mean tone and plenty of bass or bottom to the tone as well. It totally destroys my Boss Metal Zone , I've also used plenty of other metal pedals but this one is just great compared to those. I have yet to plug into my bigger amps but I'm it will still sound tremendous. I might buy another if there's ever a crazy sale on them and put it on my pedalboard that I bring out of the studio to jam . ... show more

  • Do I smell a Klon Clone?
Color: Grey(Big)
I have never owned a "real" Klon so I can't say it is or isn't. but it seems it was intended to be. Seems to be a useful Pedal at a reasonable price.

  • Big Sound From A Tiny Pedal
Color: Dark Green
The Vintage Overdrive by Horse is a surprisingly good overdrive mini-pedal at a very reasonable price. It requires a 9v power adapter; it does not take a 9 volt battery. This is how the pedal is able to be so small. However, since most guitarists have multiple pedals on a pedal board with a power source, it probably won't be much of an issue. I like that it has a small footprint. The sound is crisp and clear. And, the pedal is solid; it seems like it will last. An overdrive pedal was really the last pedal I was looking for. I had good luck with a couple of other Horse products, so I decided to give them a try. I am glad I did. This pedal would be a great buy for a beginning electric guitarist who is just starting to explore the different types of effects out there. This pedal sounds great, and at a very reasonable price. I would also recommend it for anyone who wants a decent overdrive sound at a fraction of the space. ... show more

  • Fantastic TS Style Overdrive Pedal at a great price!
Color: Dark Green
The media could not be loaded. This is a fantastic sounding light TS-style overdrive pedal. It does what a TS pedal is supposed to do, pushes your amp into a nice, mid-gain overdrive. The gain range goes from light breakup to a heavier crunch. The tone does what a tone knob is supposed to do, and the volume will give you a slight boost at it's max volume settings. The real win with this pedal is the price + the footprint + the construction. At this price, you probably wouldn't expect much from the build quality, but this is a very well built and robust pedal, you could easily throw this on a gigging pedal board and not worry about it getting damaged. And even if you're unnecessarily abusive to your pedals and somehow do manage to damage it, the price makes it easy to replace. I'd recommend this pedal for any beginner player who wants to get their first overdrive pedal or an intermediate or journeyman player who wants a working TS style overdrive that they can put on a board and not worry about. In the audio clip I'll include with this, I used a stock Reverend Flatroc into a Fender Superchamp X2. Buy this pedal! ... show more
