  • Works best with wood pellets
Style: Upgrade
I got this stove as a backup in case of emergency, and while it can be used with twigs and wood chips, pellets like you'd buy for a pellet stove are the best fuel for it. The gasification process works super well and it lasts a long time (2+ hours) when filled with a few cups of pellets. Very hot and clean burning compared to regular wood fires. This stove is not legal to use in places where only gas stoves are allowed. The flame height cannot be controlled and it does let off some sparks (fewer if you use pellets as I suggest). It's basically a less expensive version of the $70 Solo Stove Lite. Between the two, I would get the CANWAY because it's more or less the same thing at half the price. ... show more

  • Canway Camping Stove!
Style: Heighten
The media could not be loaded. Great camping stove and easy to use! I've had the best results using paper towels or napkins at the bottom and than taking a hatchet to a decent branch and getting good wood shavings from it. I have it stored away in the 1.1 liter MSR Alpine Stowaway Pot and it fits perfect with some extra room since I heard that its pretty tight with the 775 ml pot. I've been using it with my 14 cup Coletti Percolator thats around 64 oz and it takes right at about 20 minutes to start percolating. I've had this stove for 2 years now and its still working great! Overall its a great stove that's inexpensive and easy to use and you dont have to keep buying propane or isobutane tanks, just natures fuel besides the paper towels or napkins I mentioned to light and get it started easily. But still could get away with leaves and twigs. The only CON I have is you cant walk away from it for long or take your eyes off of it for long cause the fire can go out on you. You have to stay by it and keep adding wood to it. ... show more

  • Boils water quickly. Sturdy, and well designed.
Style: Heighten
This was the lowest cost camp stove of many that are very similar or identical. However, the stove is of good quality and assembles easily. Using twigs that have fallen out of my backyard trees and very little alcohol I was able to get the stove burning quickly. I don't think I needed the alcohol, but it made lighting easy. I had a small deep pan (about two cups of coffee size) of water boiling in about 2 minutes. The stove isn't smokeless, but does a pretty good job of keeping the smoke at a minimum. There will be soot on the bottom and possibly the side of the pan so don't use anything the better half will get angry about turning into a camping pan when you test the stove. The embers that are at the bottom of the stove stay very hot for some time after I removed the boiling pan of water. The feed opening in the side of the pan stand is plenty large enough to continually feed wood through. I brought the pan of water up to full rolling boil several times just by adding some twigs. I'm pleased with the stove, and it'll come in handy when I do some overnight camping in my ultralight. The light weight of the stove and that it uses wood that can be found almost anywhere makes this an excellent stove for camping, removing the need to carry fuel. ... show more

  • Buy it! Use it! Love it!
Style: Classic
All I can say is wow! Going in to the purchase I was a little skeptical on the quality and how well this wood burning stove would work. I had seen several other similar stoves that worked fine but found very little info on this "brand". After watching several videos I soon realized that this stove is made in China and rebranded to many different companies and is ultimately a knockoff of the silverfire scout which sells for considerably more. The quality of the product is surprisingly good, I was expecting something cheap and flimsy but that was not the case. The body of the stove is made of thick double walled stainless and has zero flex and fits perfectly on the single walled base. The basket that drops in to the stove body is also made of high quality stainless. I was a little worried about the dimensions given as one part days 5.11 inches while another stated 5.5 inches. I can confirm the stove has a diameter of 5.25 inches at its widest point and nests perfectly in my 775ml msr alpine stowaway pot, it also fit perfectly in my ozark trail 10 piece cookset (after eliminating some bowls). The ozark trail kit is a direct knockoff of the gsi Dualist so it should fit in that kit as well. The center of the stove also allows for storage of some small items. I was able to fit my firesteel, a mini Bic, water proof matches (in a plastic case), cotton balls and a folding fork and folding spoon pretty easily. I'll update my review with some examples of how it nests and what it can hold here in the next few days. Lastly the stoves performance. I first loaded up the stove with 2 cups of wood pellets, tossed a cotton ball covered in Vaseline on top and lit it with a single strike of my firesteel. Within 3 minutes the stove started its gasification process and was ready for use, the flame was perfect and almost flower like coming out of the gas hols around the top of the stove wall. My first order of business was to make popcorn which it did flawlessly, I didn't time it but I had a full pot of popcorn in less than 2 minutes! After I ate all of the popcorn I decided to do a boil test, the fire had been going for approximately 20 minutes before I put on 8oz of water in my stainless msr 775ml alpine pot. It brought the water to a rolling boil in 1min 59 seconds! I was absolutely stunned. I them took the water off and let it cool down. Around the 1 hour mark the flame stared to die down but was still generating a flame above a very hot bed of coal. I put the water back on and it once again went to a rolling boil, this time in about 5 minutes since the flame wasn't as intense. At 1.5hours I had to put the coals out because it was getting so late. You can see on the picture it burnt from daylight to darkness! The stove put out very little smoke once the gasification process took place, I would gladly use this under a tarp without worry of being smoked out. It did however put some soot on my pot, but I'm honestly not concerned about how pretty my pot looks. So yes, buy it, use it and love it! ... show more
