Description

Slippery Elm Bark Extract is derived from the bark of Ulmas rubra, an elm tree native to North America that is also known as the red elm, gray elm, soft elm, moose elm, and Indian elm. Slippery Elm can be taken as a supplement or added to food or drinks, such as water, tea, hot cereal and soup. The slippery elm tree produces an inner bark that contains mucilage, which has been used to support the health of the gastrointestinal tract. Mucilage is a soluble fiber and polysaccharide that is found in Slippery Elm that may becomes gelatinous and viscous once water is added into it. I n addition, Slippery Elm Bark Extract may helps promote mucus production in the intestines and supports normal intestinal function. And, Slippery Elm can also be taken as part of a daily regimen to maintain overall digestive health, as well as aid healthy digestion. Lastly, this extract helps support healthy gut flora and overall gut health. Our Slippery Elm Bark Extract is in powder form and does not contain any fillers, additives and artificial flavors.

Size: 8.80 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I was using the NOW brand, so I will compare the 2. The NOW brand - more chalky but thickened up more after simmering for a few minutes left a gritty film on my glass after I finished drinking it almost chai like flavor Bulksupplements brand - only thickened slightly, similar to the consistency of coffee no film on my glass after drinking but a swirly sludge left in the bottom of the glass almost pumpkin like flavor Both made me go to the bathroom shortly after drinking I think I prefer the flavor of the NOW brand, especially when adding cinnamon, ginger, and stevia. It smells almost like cookies. I prefer the consistency of the Bulksupplements I'm really not sure how they can be so different so it makes me question which product is actually the real thing ... show more

.. found it very helpful.. i eat it dry.. about 3/4 tsp am n pm smtms mid day.. i find eating it dry feels like its soaking up the acid.. tastes kinda like graham cracker.. i find it more helpful than dgl licorice tabs and more helpful than a capsule i bought recently that has aloe marshmallow elm and licorice.. i was hopeful for that but i think the amts were too small.. i have a hiatal hernia with strong reflux that i aggravated lifting drinking seltzer and extra spicy foods and extra chocolate on top of an incredibly stressful year.. i just read description and saw anxiety.. and im thinking it does have an effect.. at first i thought it was just soaking up acid of nervous stomach but i think it does actually feel calming.. ... show more

  • This one is a miss.
Size: 3.52 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I normally really like Bulksupplements, but on this product I'm less than impressed. Like anyone who looks at this sort of supplement, I was having gut problems from a ulcer and H.Pylori infection. Knowing better than to blindly throw an array of anti-biotics into my gut and wreck my digestion, I opted for natural solutions of which Slippery Elm is a good weapon in the arsenal you'll need. I'll spare you the nitty gritty, but what I wanted to use this for was to coat my stomach wall to get a leg up on the healing of the stomach lining and to get the intestinal wall some fortifying. This product was unlike the two local shops' supply I had used in comparison, and though both shops charged nearly 50% more than what I found on Amazon, both of them were similar to each other but very different from Bulksupplements. This powder is much darker and very fine, I expected it to turn into a jello due to how fine it was, but instead it didn't thicken at all. The flavor was pleasant enough, I can't complain about it there, but the entire point of Slippery Elm is it's thickening properties, that's what gives the relief and aids the healing process. I left the cup I had made out on the counter for a couple of hours and it was no thicker then than when I first added the hot water. In order to be fair about it, I gave it a solid week's use of 3x a day using 2 tblspns worth each dose. I wound up tossing the remainder as I saw no difference in results than when I wasn't using it at all. For those interested: I wound up going back to the herbal shop and buying a more substantial amount despite the high price. The results? After a week's use of the herb shop's supply, my discomfort is gone, no pain after a meal for the first 3 days, then as the week went by no more nausea and regularity was fully restored, by the end of 10 days my stomach and gut felt normal for the first time in 2 months. I can't say the same thing about Bulksupplements and I actually used MORE than what I did from the herb shop. ... show more

  • Wonderful for gut healing!
Size: 8.80 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Very pleased with this supplement. I have included slippery elm, in capsules and now this powdered form, in my protocol for healing what I believe is a stomach ulcer/hiatal hernia. The protocol also includes mastic gum, DG Licorice, probiotics, and oreganol. I've been doing this for about 5 weeks and can't believe how much better I'm feeling. I mean to the extent to feeling like I'm cured. (I include the oreganol in case there was h-pylori infection involved). I make the slippery elm into a tea, mixing with raw honey, a little cinnamon, and even some cocoa powder sometimes for a weak hot cocoa-like drink. Taste is very mild, not an offensive one at all, and with the additions I mentioned it's similar to a buttered waffle taste. Hope this helps someone. ... show more

Size: 8.80 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I purchased this for my horse that has problems keeping weight, specifically due to ulcers or gastrointestinal sensitivities, this was suggested as a possible solution, mixing with aloe juice. We're about 5 days in, and he's a picky customer, but he's eating it easily. He's never been one to be lethargic and I haven't noticed any changes, but any changes in horses never happen over night. It showed up very quickly, and is priced reasonably for my needs. It's the perfect amount for 2 animals for a 10-14 day treatment. Only problem is the package doesn't reseal at all. ... show more

  • Hadn't Heard of This Before
Size: 3.52 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I read about Slippery Elm Bark and its uses, so I decided to check out the customer reviews. Some people were talking about the consistency of it, and how they were expecting it to be more like a gel-type substance when prepared. I use it in a tea form and I actually like it. I mix it with Green Tea and Ginger Root tea. I add a little bit of raw honey and mix. There's no bitterness and the flavor is actually pretty good..almost fruity tasting. ... show more
