  • Absolutely changes how you use Surface Go
I was literally going to buy a Yoga 6 because I wanted a computer where I could just sit and put it on my lap to use while on a train or bus or something when the need arises. Sometimes even in my own car..... the flip keyboard on the Surface is excellent but the Surface needs to be on a desk normally with that kickstand. Sure, some cases help with this but they're still flimsy and will fall. Now THIS.... This makes it just like a laptop... one where I can slide my Surface out and use a laptop where I couldn't like I said above. It makes the Surface a better device and I really wish Microsoft made one like this because this really is great. Sad thing is that most cases won't work here but they do have ones where the case only covers the top of the device and another half covers the bottom. If you have one of those, you may have at least some protection... I almost wish Brydge had a companion case to go along with this because then it's a no brainer for me. But I'm happy I bought this keyboard and even more happy that I got an Open Box one at 1/2 off. :) ... show more

  • Good: Feel + laptop experience, bad: weight, clamping on screen corners
Positives: 1. It's beautifully made. The silver color on the back and joints matches the Surface platinum perfectly, and the Surface and Brydge keyboard fit together very snugly and cleanly. The Brydge looks and feels like a premium accessory. 2. It's very well balanced - the Surface becomes truly usable on a lap. The Brydge hinge is very firm and reclines all the way flat. 3. The keys, while mini, are spaced and placed well. You can touch-type on it with a little bit of practice. Keys are where you expect them to be. 4. Bluetooth performance is great. No apparent lag, chatter, or pairing issues. The keyboard is available immediately once the Surface wakes/boots, The keyboard can fall asleep occasionally, requiring the user to press FN-DEL to wake, but for the most part you can turn it on and forget about it. 5. The touchpad is nice and precise (indeed, it's a Precision touchpad), and supports Windows gestures, etc. Palm rejection is very good. Negatives: 1. The weight. The keyboard weighs just over a pound - just shy of the Surface's weight. You'll notice the difference jumping from 1 to ~2 pounds when both devices are used together. 2. Screen clamping. So, the Surface slots into two padded 'grips' on the Brydge hinge. Once inserted completely into the Brydge, the Surface is held *very* securely in place. I doubt the Surface would fall out if you turned the Brydge upside-down. Unfortunately, the grips clamp the Surface so tightly that it creates backlight bleed in the bottom left and right corners of the displays. It's very noticeable if you're looking at dark content on the screen. I'm not concerned about the safety of the display, since I can press the corners with my fingers when the Brydge is removed and it's just not that much pressure, but it really interferes with movies, games, etc. See photo. It's my least favorite aspect of this keyboard, and I'm considering returning it for this reason alone, but I don't notice it in most screen and lighting conditions. Overall, I love that it turns the Surface into a nice netbook with a detachable display, but for the price, I'm not sure if the total combination makes sense vs. a Surface Laptop Go. Considerations there include whether you care about pen support and a microSD slot, and the ability to detach the keyboard. EDIT: I returned it. Ultimately, I wasn't as comfortable as I thought I might be with the hinge pressure on the screen, and I wasn't interested in waiting on an exchange from Brydge when many other users have reported the same fundamental issue with the keyboard. ... show more

  • Turns your Surface Go 1/2/3 into a great 2-in-1
Never tried cover keyboard since some reviews of that product mentioned that it was not stiff enough to support lap work. Brydge keyboard looked much more solid. Very happy. Keyboard has solid metal chassis; it actually feels and weighs about the same as Surface go itself. Tablet fits snugly in the hinges. Brydge does NOT use cover keyboard connection and needs to be charged separately which I am ok with (good side effect - it does not drain Surface's battery). Connection to the tablet is via bluetooth. Easy to pair (charge keyboard first). Pleasant to type. Touchpad very responsive. Great for working in bed. I would assume that the entire setup is heavier (and slightly thicker) than Surface Go with cover keyboard, but the assembly feels like a real laptop. Take it off and you have a tablet again. ... show more

  • Potential screen burn in issue but otherwise good keyboard
I would have given this a 5 star review, but didn't for 2 reasons. 1) I constantly have to take it off when not in use, or use it for limited amounts of time. While the keyboard is attached, for some reason the the bottom left corner of my surface is brightens up as if it is being touched. No matter how I place it, the case grips some part of the screen at the lower left hand corner and because of this, I detach it because I fear it will burn the screen in. 2) the mouse move insanely fast and despite changing the speed in settings, it's still much too fast for such a small screen 3) now Amazon has a coupon for $20 off the keyboard. When I purchased the device, there were no comments or anything. I didn't even know what the bottom looked like (despite the keyboard being black, the bottom is silver) or how it preformed. Maybe I got a faulty unit, but a potential screen issue shouldn't cost $140. I fear if I keep it attached, as I had intended, the burn out will spread or the touch response will stop working. Also, yes I did read the instructions, and yes, I did try attaching and reattaching in various ways, but always got the same result. OTHER THAN THAT -the keys are a joy to type on -i haven't had the device long enough to test the battery life, but I haven't had to recharge it since it's initial charge. -the hinge is really sturdy and makes it comfortable to use in your lap -bluetooth connectivity has been 100% stable ... show more

  • Love ability to use my Surface Go like a laptop
This is exactly what I needed for lap use and great for airplanes with their tiny trays. Long battery life too. Good quality keys. Really happy with it
