  • Great company, poor product and support.
Labeler was used for approx one working week over the course of two years(4 cartridges), the roller mechanism is flawed and will not apply enough pressure if left with a cartridge inside of it in storage. After the two year mark the bottom half of the labels would not print, after consulting Brady they said the printer was outside of the warranty period(2 years) and would not offer any other remedy. Their reply was to buy another printer, very disapointing. ... show more

I bought one of these last year to replace a damaged Brother unit, dropped while working on a systems install. I liked that Brother (one of the orange colored ones you can pick up at Home Depot), and almost bought another one, but started looking at self laminating labels instead, as the cable flag I had on the Brother was unsightly, and had a less professional look. I had seen this Brady unit at Home Depot, but liked the kit I found here on Amazon, which came with the case and charger. I've since also bought the magnet base for it. I've told several friends who are in the same line of business as I am, how much I liked this unit, and they have all bought one as well. The self laminating labels are awesome for cable work, and there are a wide variety of other styles and colors of labels to pick from. The battery lasts "forever" - ok not literally, but a really long time in my use of it. Even after 8 hours of constant use, it was still going. The magnet base is a nice accessory, as is the stand, if you work in an area where mounting this or sitting it on a table makes more sense. I find the neck strap is a little long and thin, but that's easily fixed with another strap. Besides the self laminating label option with this printer, the other major benefit I see is that while you will notice there is less tape per cartridge than you'd find in other systems such as the Brother I had, I think because of how this unit works you waste less tape per print, thus meaning you get more out of the 14' that's in the spool. All in all a great unit, it's been working like a champ. ... show more

  • You Get What You Pay For.
Fantastic printer. It prints everything I could ever want. It can print very small on the 1/4 tape or very big with the 3/4 tape, or anything in between. It does bar codes too. Unlike other printers, this one uses only the amount of tape that you need, and doesn't waste extra so they can sell you more tape sooner. The lithium Ion battery lasts a long time on a charge. This is designed for rough industrial use, so it will last a long time. The case is nice, and holds everything very securely. I could talk all day long about how great this labeler is. I can't think of anything negative to say. This printer / labeler is not cheap, but as you've heard before, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. ... show more

  • Great Labeler
Having used Dymo and Rhino labelers for years this Brady is a step up and much easier to use. The cartridge insertion is simple and I especially like the feed approach. There is less tape waste and the unit holds the tape after cutting so it doesn't fly to the ground. The self laminating with the fold over is definitely superior to the Rhino versions. Simple backing removal and good adhesion. The 1.5" tapes are perfect for CAT6 cables. Like all of the label brands their tapes are expensive for what they are. My only minor gripe so far is that the lithium battery has to be removed from the case to charge it. ... show more

  • Great label machine.
This is the best and most versatile label maker I've ever worked with. The nylon cloth tape sticks to just about anything. Absolutely great for labeling wires and cables, breaker boxes or whatever you wanna stick a label on. This kit is a great starter kit. Two minor complaints- 1 The rechargeable battery must be directly connected to the charger. Just plugging the charger into the machine will not charge the battery. 2 The keyboard would be easier to operate if it were a standard QWERTY layout instead of in alphabetical order. Overall a great label machine. I use mine all the time. ... show more

  • So much better than my brother and Dymo labellers
I have a similar brother labeller and can't stand the fact that it constantly wastes labels and makes me cut off extra label tape before printing anything. The Brady labels look to be better quality, easier to use and easier to swap out. The printer itself looks to be tough and easy to use. There are some key options that I liked on the brother printer, but it's a small price to pay. I would definitely recommend you start with this printer and don't waste your time with brother or Dymo like I did. ... show more

  • Works good, no complaints (just some suggestions)
I bought this for my house with too many computers (and more coming). I have a 16 port and an 8 port switch and only about half of the ethernet cables were labeled correctly. With this labeler, a tracer and a minor struggle, everything is now clearly labeled on both ends. The WireMarker label type at 1.2 inch length works perfect for CAT 6 and I was able to choose a font that makes the labels easier to read than some of my existing ones. I like the way it does not waste tape (short path from print head to tape exit) and that it has many options for general as well as wire labeling. You do have to press the keys with conviction and a QWERTY arrangement would make typing easier for me. The Print button is right next to the Clear (backspace) button so I inadvertently wasted a couple of labels hitting the wrong button. The labels themselves are excellent and stay put but can be readily removed. The manual that comes with it only contains information that is self-evident, but the real manual is available on Brady's web site and has a complete description of all the supported label types (e.g. Banner Portrait, Vial etc.). I seems a little weird that you have to charge the battery outside the unit (like maybe it was an afterthought) but I don't expect to need to charge it very often for my application. In the end this made a grubby task less painful so I would buy again if necessary. Now (not today but soon) I'm going to label all the HDMI cables on my receiver. ... show more
