  • Shredtastic!!
Size: 12 Sheet
This is one powerful compact shredding beast! Works just as described, so easy to set up and use its unbelievable. I shredded so many papers that I needed to dispose of, and this little bugger even shreds old credit cards! There is a spot right in the center of the feed where you place the card and zip, its shredded. Just amazing. Powerful enough to handle shredding multiple sheets at a time. Big enough to handle and hold lots of shredded paper, but compact enough to be able to stand right next to my printer. The window on the front is a big plus to see how full the bin is and when it needs to be emptied, which is so nice to have so I don't have to keep taking the top shredding component off to look inside to gauge if its too full. It has not jammed up, has not overheated, and continues to work perfectly. The top portion with the shredder fits perfectly on the bin and is not ridiculously heavy to take off when its time to empty the bin, so its easy to lift on and off without a fight. It is also not crazy loud like some shredders in the past. Instructions on how it functions are clear and easy to understand as well. I have nothing bad to say, and I am thrilled with how it looks and more importantly how it functions. ... show more

  • Workhorse shredder
Size: 15 Sheet
My old 10 sheet B&D finally died and I was looking for a suitable replacement. I wanted capacity and a long run time as many of my shredding sessions were interrupted by over heating conditions. I found this Amazon Basics 15 sheet shredder and so far, it has lived up to the positive reviews I've seen. It arrived in recyclable packaging that protected the unit in shipping. It has a 6 foot power cord. The wheels on the bottom are fairly small and I question their ability to roll on heavy carpet. No big deal though, as I seriously doubt anyone will be dragging this by the cord through a crowded airport. I did get a chance to check this out by shredding about 5 years worth of medical receipts, insurance statements, expired credit cards, etc. Enough to fill a kitchen trash bag with shredded material. Even after all that, the machine did not seem to overheat. The machine is much quieter than the old 10 sheet, a definite plus. The only time it had a problem was when I fed it an old credit card that had the statement "do not shred, contains metal". It did eventually work its way through the machine, with no apparent damage to the machine. Although I did not count the number of sheets of paper I was feeding it, the machine worked through all the paper items and other credit cards without issue. It does seem to be just a bit slower than the old machine, but not terribly slower. It did seem to get slower as I increased the amount that was being fed. Most of the documents were 4-6 pages, but several were up to about 12 pages. When shredding the heavier bundles, it was obvious the machine was working harder. I was thinking that this was a "micro shredder", but that is not the case. The shred size is about 3/16" (4.7mm) by about 1-7/32"(31mm) , which is between a P2 & P4 shred (max size for P4 is 4mm x 40mm, 160 sq mm). The shredder will stop and an indicator light will illuminate when the bin is full - even in the middle of a sheet. The will help keep the clippings from falling all over when you go to empty the bin. This feature was lacking on my old 10 sheet shredder and oft times the cutters would snag shredded material from the bin. My only complaint with this shredder so far is the feed opening. An extra half inch would make it so you don't have to have the paper perfectly aligned to feed it. ... show more

  • Great, inexpensive shredder
Size: 8 Sheet
Purchased for my home. Did not need fancy or large one, and this one is perfect. The ONLY negative I have to say about it (if you even want to call it a negative) is that you can only put 3-4 sheets of paper in it at once otherwise it jams. I guess I am used to the larger, commercial shredders at work, haha! It is a little noisy (I wasn't expecting it to be so loud) but the shredding power is fantastic. I've shredded quite a few things and I haven't had to empty it once so it seems to hold quite a bit. I would definitely purchase again. ... show more

  • Works better than I expected
Size: 12 Sheet
I have had shredders before, but none have worked as well or felt as sturdy as this one. I had a shopping bag full of papers I needed to have shredded, so I bought this 12 sheet shredder instead of taking the papers (junk mail w/my info on it, bills, etc.), to a UPS store. No problems shredding all of it, including old credit cards. A couple of times I put too many sheets in at once, and the shredder stopped, I hit the reverse, and easily removed the stuck sheets without any harm to the machine. It did not overheat (my old one did after just a few minutes), and storing it after I was done, was easy. The basket is a bit on the small side, though adequate and much sturdier than my old shredder’s. The glass (hard plastic?) window in the basket made it easy to see when it needed to be emptied. The top that contains the shredding system and all the electricals to run it, is very heavy, thus, it was good to have a sturdy basket. The top fits well into the basket. My previous shredder always felt unstable, but this one did not. I will probably be using WD-40 oil to make sure it continues to work well. I need to learn how often that is recommended, and will fully read through the enclosed instructions to learn how often - if it’s recommended at all. Some comments mentioned it before I decided to buy this, so I’ll look into it since I never oiled other shedders. (Maybe that’s why they didn’t last? - Who knows…) For this one, though: so far, so good. Seems to be well worth the $40 price. ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 8 Sheet
I have been using this shredder for almost a year and a half. The shredding is clean and efficient. I don't load more sheets than is recommended. When I shred cardboard, I do it singly. It is good with credit cards in its designated slot. The shredded pieces are small. It is easy to use and empty. I highly recommend it. ... show more
