  • Wonderful !!! Great customer service!! New update July 17, 2024
Size: 53 Quart
I have had this freezer/frig for almost 8 months now. Have used it on several week long camping trips and it has not failed me yet. I have had it run on my 12v 100 amp Li iron po4 battery for 4 days(at zero degrees F) and the battery was down to about 29 % charge left. When not using it for camping we use to as an extra freezer and it has been running almost everyday of the last 8 months with no problems. You can hear it running but it is not very loud at all, no problem with sleeping and it in your camper. It cools down pretty fast, but think it would be better to have most items frozen first if you are using it as a freezer. I seldom use it as a frig. but functions fine in that mode. It has a smaller compartment that is frig. only and it stays about 15 degrees or so above the freezer. Items will freeze in that compartment if you leave the item for several days and the freezer at 0 degrees. When I first received the freezer/frig. I had trouble turning it on and adjusting the temperature. I was just pushing down on the "button area" and nothing happened no matter how hard I pushed or where I pushed. I was very upset and sent the company a "heated" email. They answered in a few hours with questions and suggestions, even offering to swap out the control panel-(plug and play I guess) or having me send the unit back to amazon. To make a long story short, they continued to contact me and with ideas for me to try. Finally by accident I pushed my thumb flat on the button and held it there and what do you know it turned off and on and I was able to adjust the temperature. Problem solved-use your thumb, you don't have to push hard and just leave it there till the display starts blinking-read the small owners booklet. Yes, I would buy another if I needed one and recommend this unit to you! Update 7-13-24: Just got back from an extended 2 week camping trip. The frig continues to impress me and worked great the whole time with minimum power consumption from my lithium 12v batteries. We still use it for an extra freezer at home on occasion and trips to Costco. Works wonderful and thinking about buying another one. ... show more

  • Impressed with how well it handled very low settings
Size: 53 Quart
tl;dr - (53Qt Version) I love it with the understanding that this can be either a fridge, or a freezer - but not really both. The the (much) smaller "fridge" compartment runs almost exactly 15F blow the setting of the "freezer" section, as stated in the product description. Nice to see a company that is actually honest in the specs :D. That means if you want the fridge compartment to be 45-ish, set the thing to 30F. Be aware - it is tall - it won't fit in my Subaru Legacy trunk. This is actually a good thing - helps keep the cold in when you open it and minimizes the footprint. See pics with a 12" ruler for scale. I purchased this for an event I am going to at the end of September 2024 - where I will be totally off grid, but wanted to bring some frozen foods. I've had it for a couple of weeks doing some pretty significant stress testing, and I'm very happy with it. Testing was performed using a thermal load of 8 already frozen16oz water bottles - you have to have some kind of load to even out the temps. Set the control to maintain a 10F temperature (this temp was used for all testing below). Used the AC adaptor to 'prime' the system - pulled down to the preset of 10 degrees. Temperature stability was not that great +5/-2, and the sides felt cold to the touch - meaning the insulation could use a little help. IMHO, that should be included, but whatever. Ordered the cover and that smoothed things out. Just remember to add $70 to the price when you buy it. I then moved it outside. First with the AC adaptor, temperature was maintained at 10F +/- 3 on the high power setting. Abient was as high as 110F in the shade and yet it kept up. After a few days of that, switched to running on battery power in economy mode - initially with a older 20Ah 12V LiFePO4 battery inside where the ambient was about 77F for the entire time. The 20Ah battery gave me about 11 hours of runtime (with the protection switch set to high) before cutting out on low voltage. Upgraded to a 30AH battery and at 12hours I still had ~30% charge. Finally, the stress test - using a 120W "12v" panel, MPPT charge controller, and the 30AH battery I put the whole mess outdoors. Ambient during the day has been around 95F-100F, evenings dropping to low 70s. It's been running on that system for 3 days, only on the solar system. - the panel is producing about 5A - which is enough to both charge the battery, and take on the daytime operation. The battery easily ran it overnight. If I had it set to a more reasonable temperature as a fridge (35F or so), I suspect even the 20Ah battery would have been ok. Some things to be aware of, especially since it's so tall I can see it getting put inside the passenger compartment - it has to be able to breathe. This means do *NOT* put on the seat with one of the vents against the seat back - it won't cool worth a darn, will eat your battery, and quite possibly overheat. That means only put the *short* side against anything, and I would say give it 10" minimum clearance to either side. I did verify with the manufacturer that for normal road travel, and even mildly bumpy off road, so long as the cooler is kept to within 35degrees of flat, it's safe to operate. Which means taking into consideration the tilt of your seat if you put it there. ... show more

  • Great for the price!
Size: 42 Quart
After a summer of this 12V fridge being used daily in my truck, I can definitely recommend it. It worked well as a fridge and freezer. You just need to keep it powered(I have a secondary battery/solar setup). You will notice the temperature fluctuating on the display, but this is the air temp changing with the compressor's cycles, not necessarily the food temp. Overall, it's a good entry level 12V fridge, with luck it will last me a while. ... show more

  • 355ml
Size: 42 Quart
Nice product, good quality, kept ice cream frozen and froze it outside during the summer. For the Americans out there our coke cans are 355ml. I could only figure out how to get 52 cans in here, and I had to take the cage out to do so. I would have preferred not to have done that for durability reasons. Cage in my guess is you're somewhere in upper 30s low 40s. I attached a photo of the cans and how I got them in there. Would love to hear another way to stack them, but this seemed to make the most sense. ... show more

  • Works really well
Size: 42 Quart
We've used this twice while traveling, once as a freezer and then as a refrigerator. Kept frozen foods frozen as a freezer but didn't freeze what was in it when we set the temperature higher. The case, sold separately, is great, the handles make it much easier to get in and out of vehicles, and has big enough pockets to store the car and home power cords. Expensive and heavy but we're very happy with it. ... show more

  • Excellent Performance for the Price
Size: 53 Quart
This 12V DC powered cooler works great and the price makes it a great value. I’ve taken it camping a few times now in the California Sierra and it functioned very well, both on hot days and cool nights. I can’t imagine going anywhere with a cooler now without my BougeRV cooler!

  • Travels well
Size: 42 Quart
I travelled across the US with this and it worked very well for me. I could plug it in the car and then in a hotel room or garage if my stay was extended. Kept our drinks and food cool.
