Top Amazon Reviews

  • Very satisfied - Works as advertised, Extremely useful. Without issue 6+ months now.
Size: 53QT
Great performance for the cost compared to competitors. The quality really seems to be here, several other reviews of previous versions of this model can be found on youtube from folks who have had basically this alpicool unit for OVER 4 years and zero issues - so we too pulled the trigger. We have been using this for 6+ months now without any issues or complaints... just praise. It sits in the back of our SUV and we use it while grocery shopping as it allows to keep the essentials - like Ice Cream - frozen until we get home. Our drive is on average about 40+ min from home to the stores so this has been a wonderful change for us. It has also given us the flexibility to stop after shopping and go into a restaurant for dinner and such. We use the 115v adapter that comes with it (also comes with a 12v adapter if you only have that in your vehicle) while plugged into the back of our vehicle (which has a built in inverter). We do not have this on a "always on" battery or connection so when we turn the car off, it turns off. This has NOT been an issue even when we go in to eat at a restaurant for up to a couple of hours. We have done this several times on the hot summer days and after having the unit already be at 5F or so when we stopped the car and when we return its usually around 40-50F or so and cools right back down very quick. We use all the features listed on this - from the echo cool mode to the max cool which can rapidly cool the unit from 85F to -5F in less than 20 min on max cool. We change it via their bluetooth app when we drive in to do grocery shopping. Although the divider lets us split compartments to do freezer and fridge on opposite sides we have found that for the most part we take out the divider and just use it all as a freezer or fridge depending on what we get. If we don't do this some of the larger items such as steaks and meat packages do not fit. We have been very happy with this purchase and have recommended this to several of our friends. It has really helped change how we do grocery shopping since we live a ways out from the stores. ... show more

  • Perfect for me
Size: 53QT
I recently used this product for a 10-day vacation involving a 1200 mile round-trip road trip. It's reasonably easy to move around (all compressor-type portable fridges are a bit heavier than the plate-cooler type but the cooling is stronger and better regulated so it's worth it) works well on 12-volts in the car. It holds a reasonable amount of fresh and frozen food and seems to hold and separate the thermostat temps in both compartments. I consider it a medium-capacity fridge -- as it's described on the Amazon website -- but it works well and the sound level is lower than most other portable fridges I've seen. I consider this a good buy. ... show more

  • No ice hassle
Size: 53QT
Very happy with our purchase. There is no more having to purchase ice on a daily basis and drain the cooler to empty the melted ice. We just got back from out west and ran our cooler for almost 3 weeks straight. It ran like a champ. Also purchased the additional thermal blanket. I will say when you turn it off it doesn't maintain cold temps for an extended time (which I had hoped the blanket would help out more). The unit also doesn't get quite down to -4 degrees as advertised. But it did get down to about 2 degrees. The fridge side gets down to around 34 degrees. I bought the middle-sized unit and it fit perfectly on the back seat of my truck. If you look at the photo, I added a 2x4 between the cooler and the seat as there is an air vent on that side of the unit as well as 2 other sides. ... show more

  • Loved it until it quit.
Size: 53QT-LG Version
Bought this on March 5th 2021. Used it everyday and it worked flawlessly... for ONE year. Went to get something out of it today and seen that everything I had frozen, which was a lot because I had just bought groceries the day before was now thawed and ruined. About $60 dollars worth of meat. Also ruined was my next 2 shots of Humira I get from the Veteran Administration for rheumatoid arthritis. This wasn't just a neat gadget for camping. I used this EVERYDAY as my sole source for keeping my food and medicine cool/frozen. The display is no longer working. It lights up for about 2 seconds when I plug it in but then goes out. The power brick seems to be okay cause the green led is lit. Shot craps 44 days after the 1 year warranty expired (of course). This is VERY upsetting and depressing because I'm a senior living on a VERY limited fixed income and unless Alpicool can make this right there's no way I could ever possibly afford to buy a new one. It took over a year for me to save up to buy this one and money's even tighter now. For the year it worked I absolutely loved it but when I spend this much money on something I expect to get more than a year of use out of it! Before today I would have given this 5 stars. And if Alpicool stands behind their product and makes this right it'll STILL get 5 stars but until then I can only give it 1 star. And should Alpicool not stand behind their product I can promise them I will cost them I'll cost them much, MUCH more than what I paid for it in bad reviews and word of mouth in the VanLife community which is a major market for their products. Good, bad or otherwise I promise I'll come back and let everyone know how Alpicool handles this. I really, really want to go back to bragging on this! ... show more
