    • Overall A Good Pedal But I Received A Defective Unit

The things I liked about the RC 500…. The sound Quality is exceptional which is important when playing live or recording for studio purpose. It was not too overly complicated and there are a lot of videos on YouTube on how to use this product. however I was shipped a defective product in that the phantom power did not work. I have a condenser microphone an audio technical 3035 which uses 11 to 52 V phantom power the standard 48 V in the industry and when I would engage the phantom power I would just get a hissing noise. my microphone workss with all my other phantom powered units. This particular pedal shipped directly from the UK for a discounted price. Also I have a smaller boss RC two looping pedal that I have been using for many many years that has done a great job and this RC 500 was not an incredibly huge step up from that pedal The main differences that I liked are that you were able to output to two different amplifiers directing rhythm to one amp and guitar to another (I think the rc 3 offered this?) , RC 500 has many more inputs including a microphone input with phantom power ( which you will need if you mic instruments or want a studio quality voice microphone attached) rc 500 has a lot of room to record and tons of spaces for saves. it did not seem to me that this would be suitable for live applications where one needs a lot of tracks. I would go with the RC 600 I think it is called the flagship pedal which offers I think five tracks? If I were going to create a loop pedal song using various instruments in a live application I would want several tracks , two is just not enough. I think the RC 500 is perfect for studio recording and for live performances where only one or two instruments are needed to add in the mix such as solo performers needing rhythm accompaniment or lead and rhythm fills. ... show more

    • Powerfull Looper with lots of features. Difficult to learn
Pattern Name: Single Style: RC-500
This is my first looper. It is packed with features but difficult to learn. You can lay down a few loops pretty easily but if you want to use both channels, add effects, setup pedals, middi or have different drum beats come in at different times you will be spending many hours reading the manual, watching youtube videos and setting up and saving custom patches and programming external pedals to control different functions and patches. I can't compare this to other pedals since I don't have any. If you want a basic looper there are cheaper easier ones out there but if you think you might utilize more features in the future then you might as well get this one because it can do just about anything you would want in a looper or effects pedal. Build quality is good, the company is good, the manual is detailed and it sounds fantastic. Its also the only pedal I could find that does MIC and Instrument. It will eat batteries like crazy if you don't get the external power supply not included. I get about 35 min with AA batteries. ... show more

This is a sweet two track looper with some nice features if you're willing to dig into the user manual. My only complaint is it comes with four batteries and no AC adapter, but a $10 generic adapter works great. Boss is doing that with everything these days and I knew it going in, so I'm not going to complain about it. I was just a little concerned about this coming from the UK, but other than taking a couple of weeks to arrive, it's just perfect. Due to the exchange rate, the same (new) unit is much cheaper this way vs. one from a US source. I'm very happy with both the looper pedal and the $$$ saved by ordering from across the pond.     • Nice device but had intermittant jog wheel!

Came fairly quickly from the UK. ...In a plastic bag...just the retail box and the corners were scrunched. The jog wheel (Memory/Value) knob would occasionally not respond. I know how it should work as I have another unit (I wanted a second to sync up w/midi) The sync worked well...but the jog wheel acted like it would fail and I didn't want to have that after my return period was up so had to send it back...(it's alot of extra work to send back to the uk) So - nice unit - hope you get a good one! ... show more
