  • Great smart lock, app, and smart home integration
Style: Smart Door Lock
I have 2 of these smart locks + a fingerprint keypad. One with the keypad is for my front door and the second mud room door to the garage. They have worked out great. Installation was a breeze with the app and wizard. My daughter is old enough now to walk to and from school so I didn't want her to have to have a key and potentially lose it. She is able to use the keypad or her phone to unlock the door. The one to the garage has worked out great as well. When we come home, we use the app to unlock and they kids don't have to wait for us to get out of the car and unlock the door for them. The app is really great with lots of option. I like seeing all the locks we have in one place. It also allows multiple households - I bought a lock for my parents condo and I can help administer it for them remotely as well as not needing a key when I housesit or visit them. One time I had a friend coming to stay with us for a few days and the app allowed me to create a temporary key for them that they could use their phone to lock and unlock. It worked great as they arrived when we were not home. The smart home integration (we have Alexa) was seamless. Had to install the Bosma skill and it worked right away. By default unlock is turned off which is a good thing because you don't want an intruder saying "Alexa, unlock front door." lol. My kids often use the lock door with Alexa. The only negative is for the front door I am on my 3rd lock. Where my parents and my mud room door is still original (> 2 years). If you have an older house and maybe it has settled if your door lock is not flush with the frame the motor on the lock has to work extra hard to lock and unlock and it wears it out. To prevent this I tried to make sure the door is closed properly so hopefully the 3rd lock will be good. I still love this lock. ... show more

  • Works well, some features to be desired
Style: Smart Door Lock
Originally purchased an August lock, but the device was so unreliable (lost connection with wifi, battery died prematurely, a host of problems). This was my second wifi lock purchase, and I've not had any significant problems. Pro: - Quick set up, sets over your existing lock - Has not had issues disconnecting from wifi (like other locks) - Connects to a (sold separately) keypad, with a fingerprint reader for fast unlocking - Good battery life (last changed batteries Feb 2022) - Multiple users can connect to same account Cons: - You cannot selectively mute or allow notifications (ex: I don't want "break in" alerts, I only want to know when someone manually types in a code to enter) - You can see real time notifications of who is entering (if you assign user codes to specific people), but when accessing the entry history, there is no indication of WHO entered at what time - You can assign codes to individuals, but after setting the code, there is no way to go back to look at what you set the code as. You have to delete and recreate a code if you forget. Maybe that's just a security feature. - The product I purchased was new, but it seemed to have been a restocked item (there was no plastic around the box, the batteries were already installed and not at 100%). They offered to replace the item but it was already installed and more inconvenient to send back. ... show more

  • Works Great but Finicky at Times
Style: Smart Door Lock
Overall love the lock. Easy to install and comes with various attachments to fit different types of deadbolts. The most important feature for me is that it still works with the original keys, so it is renter-friendly. Lots of functions to lock/unlock automatically or on certain cues. Guest access is simple to set up and can be set to work for a certain length of time. I have noticed on occasion that it takes a second try to lock/unlock. The fingerprint reader and keypad are fairly sensitive. Wish they were more reliable. Unfortunately, the home detection feature to unlock when your phone is within range rarely works for me. ... show more

  • I LOVE THIS THING
Style: Smart Door Lock
WHERE has this been my whole life. I'm the guy that puts his house key in his hand. Then puts his arms through the loops of twenty or so plastic grocery bags so I only have to make one trip. Once I'm at the door I have a heck of a time unlocking it to get in. Either the bags weigh my arm down and I can't get the key in. Or I have to set them on the porch, which defeats the purpose of carrying so many at once. Then unlock the door. Then pick them all back up again. Which is really a pain when it super cold, snowing or raining out. This smart deadbolt takes care of ALL of that. First let me say that the install is a BREEZE. Make sure you use the included instructions. Which by the way are great. Without the instructions your lock will not calibrate properly and you can't finish the install without a proper calibration. I experienced no issues with the app. Alexa integration was a snap. While the lock provides many conveniences. My favorite feature is the auto unlock. Remember all those grocery bags I mentioned earlier? With this lock. Now when I pull into my driveway with a car load of bags. The lock recognizes that I'm home and automatically unlocks the door. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO more fumbling for keys when your hands are full. Especially in adverse weather conditions. I walk up to my already unlocked door. Push it open with my foot, knee, hip, butt, elbow, whatever is easiest at the time when loaded down. Step inside and use the same method to shut the door. Most of us will forget to lock the door right away once inside because we are busy setting the bags down. Being greeted, thus distracted away from the door, by a child or pet. NO problem. The door AUTOMATICALLY locks itself behind you. WHAT? Mind blown. All of the things mentioned above are done through your wifi, bluetooth and the timers and choices you make inside the easy to use app. Once set up. Alexa can take full control of your lock. And before I forget. People that know you have it. CANNOT use your Alexa against you to unlock it by yelling through a window or something to have Alexa unlock it. Alexa will ask you for a verbal code before it unlocks it. No matter who issues the verbal command. So keep it a secret. You can issue temporary pass access via the app to a worker coming into your home when you are away. As well as a friend or family member. You can also add family members to the app so the door will auto unlock for them when they arrive. Another neat arrival feature is. What if you are on the road but on your way home trying to beat company before they arrive only to have them beat you home? What do you do? Make them wait outside? If they are someone you trust inside your home without you. You can open the app and touch the unlock button to let them in. No matter where you are in the world as long as you have a data signal on your device the app is installed in. There are only a view very small things that I didn't like about the lock but they were easily resolved. The lock has a break in sensor. Which I like that you will be altered to a possible break in. But it makes, in my opinion, a cheesy siren sound. I shut the sound off in the app. It also makes a chime every time it unlocks or locks. I didn't care for that either and shut those sounds off in the app as well. At first there was one more bothersome thing that I didn't like about the deadbolt. . The knob that is on the inside of the door. Is plastic. Now before you go saying that's a deal breaker. Once it finally dawned on me, I realized that the interior knob has NOTHING to do with the security a deadbolt provides. The inner workings of a deadbolt as well as the bolt itself is where the security is. Not in the knob. It doesn't matter if the knob is plastic. Brass. Kevlar. Titanium. Or even kryptonite. Two more things I forgot to mention earlier. One. Do you know someone who is always forgetting their house key? Either calling you to stop what ever you are doing to come home and let them in. Or they use their super secret break in technique to get inside. Yeah this lock stops all that mess. Simply open the app and hit the unlock button. Two. You might think that being battery operated is another deal breaker for you. Thinking that if the batteries die. You're locked out and need to call a locksmith to get in. The smarter than me people at Bosma. Thought of that. While you get a new knob on the inside. The outside of your home stays the same. Meaning that if needed, in the case of dead batteries. You can still use the same old key you've been using to unlock the door. The lock also has an external keypad option. I personally didn't feel it was necessary for my particular wants and needs. So there you have it. Tons of features and conveniences with a couple of barely worth mentioning annoyances. ... show more
