    • Accurate and easy to read
This is a huge improvement from my previous candy thermometer. It was so difficult to read the old one, and having it be off just a few degrees sometimes ruined a recipe. Pros: -Brightly lit digital readout that is visible from a distance -Flashing light when the temp gets to a preset level -Clasp for the edge of the pot -Long enough to keep the display out of the steam -Accurate (I measured the temp of the boiling water which matched my altitude). Cons (more like a suggestion than a problem) -You need to make sure the clasp is already in place prior to heating as it is not that easy to slide on the edge without touching a hot pot -I wish it also had an audible sound when the target temp was reached, but not a deal breaker for me.     • Got it for the wife
From her My old candy thermometer exploded so I was without one for quite awhile. I saw this and took a chance. I bake a lot and make candy and stuff. This is so helpful because you can rest it on the pot, freeing up your hand.

If I could improve one thing on this device it would be adding an auto shutoff, otherwise it works perfectly and has infinitely improved my grilling and baking performance. The power button for this device is on the back and you need to remember to turn it off. I do use scales, thermometers and other digital devices in the kitchen daily, so I have feared I would leave the thermometer on and kill the battery. I did leave it on once but it did not drain the battery, still going strong. Very useful for meat and bread. ... show more

I use this primarily to monitor the temperature during fermentation of Lactobacillus Reuteri yogurt. The temperature needs to remain within a small range for 36 hours and the BOMATA thermometer is quick to obtain multiple, accurate reads. Combined with the large, digital screen, this is a great improvement over a standard candy thermometer that can be slower and difficult to read the gauge. ... show more

This is the third instant-read thermometer I've tried and it actually works and works well. The readout is produced in about 5 seconds and seems accurate as the 212.2 degree reading for boiling water would indicate. The clip for holding the probe in place works well keeping it stationary and stable and the plastic display panel is high enough that the heat from the burner doesn't affect it. Really good instant-read thermometer. Would recommend it for deep frying or candy making. I would suggest clipping the probe to the pan before it gets too hot as it takes a bit of manipulation to get it clipped onto the side and you have to touch the pan with your hands in the process. ... show more

Nothing like getting an electronic item only to find batteries are not included with it, that is not the case here. You pull this thing out of packaging and it is ready to go. I don’t eat or make candy so I won’t be using the thermometer for that but I am a fan of many pastries including donuts and funnel cake. With this thermometer I can easily monitor my temps and make sure my batches turn out golden brown each time vs the guessing game I am usually a part of This was a great buy and it works amazing.
