I am waiting for a hip replacement and was having trouble walking. It had become very painful. The muscles in my leg were so strained that I could hardly walk. The brace must help support the muscles and joint enough that I can now walk. Although I would not say pain free, it is now something I can manage until my hip replacement surgery. I have tried a few things to help with my sciatica pain (i.e. pillows, compression garments, stretches). Not sure if there is a cure for sciatica aside from physical therapy, but i can't engage in that at the moment due to the pandemic (trying to keep distance from everyone and everything). I experience slight pain running up and down my right thigh throughout the day. It is a hard feeling to describe, but its just a feeling that my thigh is not operating as normal. It is lite, but there are moments where it is sharper than usual. I mostly feel it when sleeping and trying to turn from one side of the mattress to the other. Due to the pain, i end up rotating myself to the other side of the bed very slowly. I got this to really help me walk better because i feel like i hunch over to help avoid pain to my thigh. As noted, i feel slight pain as if my ham string was ripped, pulled apart, or in the process of being ripped and pulled apart in opposite directions. I have a regular compression short for working out at the gym. It works great and after about 8 - 10 mins of walking, the pain is gone and i feel like i am back to my normal self. I am able to walk without any pain and can stand up straight with proper posture. However, i wanted to explore different options. I got this and i am a bit disappointed. I knew combo items are always a let down and this one did not disappoint. I am PLUS size so things just never fit right. I got the largest size but everything always feels misplaced, like it just doesn't fit right. The stomach part doesn't feel right and the thigh brace doesn't sit right on the thigh. If i lower the stomach piece to make the thigh fit, then the stomach piece feels off. Not a win-win. So i decided to cute this up and now it operates a tad better. The neoprene fabric always feels soooo good on the body. I can rub my hands on this material all day. I think positioning where you strap the thigh brace on is important to help ease the pain along with how tightly the closure straps are. I am thinking the tighter/firmer it is, the better it is for the thigh and pain. However, it takes me about 8 - 10 mins of walking before the pain goes away. My regular compression garment does that as well. Either way, the thigh brace works. The stomach piece to me is useless because i am plus size and my gut is always spilling out over this thing. It isn't solid and sturdy enough to function well as a stomach brace. However, it functions better now as 2 separate pieces versus the 1 two-piece it was originally. I just wish there was a cure for sciatica pain because i cannot wear these 2 braces for the rest of my life. Regardless, it worked better after splitting the two. The thigh brace definitely helped me stand up straight again without slouching, and i like being able to walk without pain in my thigh. Think before buying, as there are better options for separate pieces out there. ... show more

My SO has spinal stenosis lower in the spine. There have been more difficult days than good. Short of surgery, & in the process of finding alternative help, I read about the condition called ‘SI’. There was evidence to suggest that SS can involve or contribute to SI, so I decided to try some support to that area because of this - eventhough the scans showed SS. My SO said this didn’t fix but definitely helped support the area. So I would recommend this belt if you’re short of options. ... show more

I got this for my flare from my fibromyalgia-- plus it seems I'm having early symptoms of degenerative disc disease which runs in my family. I ordered it on my mom's account since she has prime, so it did deliver in three days. Anyway, I have severe hip pain from a car accident a few years ago which triggered me to have fibromyalgia. My hip constantly pops out of place, my knee rolls around in its joint, I'm usually always wearing a brace on my ankle and wrist. I'm having another flare with muscle spasms at an 8/10 and can't see my doctor for another two weeks, so I thought I would look for a hip brace. I was honestly expecting more with all of the raving reviews. It is soft, it hasn't given me a rash yet-- it is potent with chemical smells- and it holds well along my back. The real downside is figuring out where to place it so you don't feel like a rotisserie chicken at your hip and thigh. It's taken me all day to figure out what works best because the straps around the thigh are pretty small despite giving me more than enough for my 36-inch waist. I was hoping that when going for the bigger size, I would also get a bigger size with the thigh base and straps; this seems to be not the case. Also, the velcro- if not positioned right- will rub against you and this stuff is scratchy. I can imagine this ripping up your clothes if you aren't careful. So, what I've been doing to make it work: Get it around your waist first- don't go too high or those straps are definitely not going to wrap around your thigh and butt right- and then take the little two straps and put one over the other so you can have one hand guiding the wide part and the other guiding the velcro pieces to the base. THEN you can go and adjust one at a time. It is ridiculously tricky to try and get it on. If your left side is weak like mine sometimes is (stroke symptoms w/ migraines), then this will be a *task* to try and get on correctly. (Seriously, connect the two little straps, one on top of the other, before you try to wrap it around your thigh.) It does NOT match the chart that they give you on here nor the one they send you on the little card. I'm not sure how they have models showcasing the part that wraps around the thigh having such a wide space when it's by my groin down to not even halfway down my thigh. Now that I've had it where I need it to be, it is actually quite comfortable, and my hip isn't rolling out of place like it usually is whenever I stand up. I'm walking down the stairs with a little more ease. Definitely put it through the wash, though. This thing reeks. ... show more

This one was a little large for my husband but it was the only size I could get over here immediately. He put a plastic binded notepad inside where the pain was on his hip which really helped. Will be looking for one with that already inside if there is such a thing. Really helpful for the most part
