  • Excellent purifier - Expensive ongoing filter replacements
Size: Blueair Pro L - 780 Sq. Ft.
I've 4 purifiers in my house (I know, I'm sorry).this replaced the ridiculously expensive Protect 7770i I had that developed an issue where it wouldn't set on anything but high speed. And the only reason I decided to go with blue air again is because this particular model was on sale for I think $370 or something like that so it absolutely was a steal to consider. I then realized I had to buy the attachment that makes it automatic and that this particular filter doesn't work with the app that worked with the previously mentioned filter which sucked but whatever I don't really need it I just would like to be able to control it remotely like I can with everything else in my house which apparently will never happen with this product. That said this product is whisper quiet on low and it is loud on high but it's not loud like oh my god a jet engines taking off, it's loud like it's cranking out a ton of air so until people realize that you can't have completely whisper silent air movement and high volumes, they're always going to complain about the sound. If you don't like the sound put it on low. If you need to move a lot of air put it on high, leave the house. Anyway I have the blue air 211 Plus which arguably moves as much air and is equally loud at high speed but think about what you're doing, you're cleaning your air. Anyway I just wanted to counter the comments that I'm reading about this product that it smells and that it's noisy. My personal experience is that it doesn't smell at all and it's not noisy at all but I wouldn't buy it for $1,000. These things are designed for hotels large spaces or big open rooms. So wait till it goes on sale and pick it up you will be pleasantly surprised. But you won't like the fact that blue air charges $100 for each filter and it takes two to put in this product. So every four or five months you're dropping two bills for these filters which is why you should look for and try other filters even though they're not certified. I truly believe Blue Air can absolutely develop a lower cost air filter and I think the reason why they don't is because that's their revenue stream and they're going to charge you as much as possible for that. $200 is ridiculous for filters. ... show more

  • High Quality, Truly Effective! Great Support Team!
Size: Blueair Pro M - 390 Sq. Ft.
I am highly interested in the proper filtration of air and water, as these are of the most important elements for our physical existence, yet we can liver much longer without water than without air. We take in a new breath of air every few seconds, which then gets filtered out by the lungs. First I will say that most air filter companies out there don't really provide much scientific detail or testing on the way their system works, beyond just basic description of the stages and all are pretty much the same thing in a different wrapper, not much research has gone into proper air flow, powerful silent motors, scientifically correct placement and amount/quality of filtration media, proper insulation so no dirty air channels through holes and cracks in the frame, etc. After much in-depth research, I ended up with a choice between AirIQ and Blueair. After contacting AirIQ with some scientific questions, first impression was that their support reps are overworked and rush through your questions, second, AirIQ mails their filter media cartridges exposed to air, which is not good. It's a fact that carbon and other filtration media will readily absorb contaminants from the atmosphere unless properly sealed before it gets to you, thereby, shortening the capacity/life of the filter media prematurely. Furthermore, their technical department had no idea how to answer my questions, and did not return phone calls. I was totally turned off by their energy and lack of knowledge. Now, after calling Blueair support team, it was like a breath of fresh air. The were patient, genuine, explained their system in detail, and pointed me to a scientific, yet easy to understand video on their website, which is what played the deciding factor in choosing them over AirIQ: [...] I also used a laser particle counter from Dylos which measures down to 0.5 microns (beach sand is about 100 microns), which is quite accurate and nearly real-time analysis of particle much lower than the 2.5pm standard. Upon measuring the air in my bedroom, I found there were over 1000 particles smaller than 2.5pm, I closed the door and window and turned on this system on full speed. Within 10 minutes, the ultra-fine particle count went down to 200 and within 30 minutes it was in the 70s. Keep in mind, these are particles as small as bacteria and cannot be seen by the naked eye! This filter really works at removing ultrafine particles quickly! Also, in addition to their HepaSilent technology, their use special coconut shell activated carbon (the best carbon for absorbing volatile chemicals) which is further enhanced by being impregnated with magnesium and copper in order to be much more effective at breaking down difficult chemicals. Most other filter's I've seen just use regular activated carbon, and a very small amount of it. Looking back, considering how much I have spent in the past on cheap and poorly thought-out filters, I should have just bought this, but then again, I had to go through that learning curve with inferior units to recognize the value of this product. They also offer a decent warranty of 5 years if you register your product with them. Would have been better if the unit was actually Made in Sweden instead of China, but nevertheless, the build quality and materials look and feel good, the warranty is reassuring, and the performance was verified by my particle counter. Overall, very pleased with product quality, effectiveness, design and customer service. Top grade company with top grade products! BlueAir, I Hope you continue in this direction, stay true to real scientific principles, and don't become a publicly traded company (don't sell out to investors for greater profits), stay true to your customers and you will be in business for generations! ... show more

  • Developed insanely annoying hum at 7 months
Size: Blueair Pro L - 780 Sq. Ft.
After much research, I bought this due to its low noise levels. I even bought an oversized unit so I could run it at a lower speed to further reduce noise levels. At first I was elated. On level one there was gentle, almost inaudible, sound of air flow. On level two the airflow was definitely audible in a quiet room, but quite pleasant in nature . There was no motor noise or thrumming sound often heard with fans, just a nice gentle white noise. 7 months later, a month or so after a costly filter change, the fan/motor has developed an insanely annoying irregular hum, sort of a “wa-wa-wA-wa-wA” that, while not loud, can clearly be heard across the room. Let’s face it, all any of these things are is a box with a fan and a filter. In my opinion they are all grossly over priced. For the cost, I find this level of quality unacceptable. Including the new set of filters I am now in for well over a grand and can’t stand being in the room with this thing. Sickening. ... show more

  • Great Air Purifier but a bit small for the price
Size: Blueair Pro M - 390 Sq. Ft.
Definitely as described. Purifier is very quiet however it is a lot smaller to competitors out there and does not cycle air as fast. I keep this as my bedroom air purifier as it is small and quiet

  • Great but needs a module for auto function
Size: Blueair Pro M - 390 Sq. Ft.
Really powerful and quiet when on low. Needed to buy an additional module separately to be able to use the auto function

  • Very well made
Size: Blueair Pro M - 390 Sq. Ft.
This is a sold machine. Its outer shell is made of metal and comes with a nice strong cord. If you purchase it don’t forget to order separately the AIM module which allows it to be put in auto mode. The sensors in the AIM is also excellent and picks up on both cleaning chemicals and cooking fumes. I ordered mine on EBay after getting the machine here on Amazon. Highly recommend it. ... show more
