I’m really impressed with this vacuum sealer machine. I didn’t personally own one before this but I’ve used my parents’ Food Saver extensively and never really cared for it. I found it to be complicated to use (it uses the same button for multiple purposes to the point of being confusing) and you have to press and hold down the lid to activate it, which makes it finicky to turn on as it doesn’t always want to start and it prevents multitasking. Because of my subpar Food Saver experience, I was hesitant to order a vacuum sealer machine for myself. However, I shouldn’t have been because I’m obsessed with this machine! First of all, this machine is incredibly easy to use. Each button is very clear about what it’s used for. You just tap the option that matches the description of what you’re trying to seal, put the bag opening in the trench inside the machine, close the lid and push the power button. It’ll vacuum the appropriate amount and then seal once it’s done. If it’s something fragile like crackers, you can choose “Soft and dry” and it’ll vacuum less powerfully and not suck out every bit of air as to not crush the food inside. I also really appreciate the inclusion of a manual mode. By pressing and holding the “Vacuum” button, it’ll suction as long as you hold it. Once your bag is devoid of air to your liking, you release the vacuum button which causes it to instantly stop and then press the seal button. Perhaps my favorite feature of this vacuum sealer is that you can use it with any bag that has a straight across opening and also to repair a bag that’s been ripped. I had a store-bought bag of tortilla chips and the bag itself is incredibly thin and prone to ripping and had torn down the middle. I lined up both sides of the tear and put them over the heating strip in this vacuum sealer and pressed the “Seal” button. This machine sealed the tear and automatically turned off when it was fully sealed. I also tried the seal feature on a very thin plastic graham cracker bag. I held the vacuum button to manually extract the air and then pressed the seal button. To my surprise, it automatically stopped sealing when the graham cracker bag was sealed and didn’t melt the bag (which I’ve seen happen with other sealers if they run too long for a particular material type). The fact that I can use this to seal any store-bought food that’s sold in a plastic bag exponentially expands the usefulness of this vacuum sealer! In regard to storage, I found that I’m able to store the power cord and the included roll of bags inside of the machine, making it easy to store in my cabinet. This is my first vacuum seal and it did take a little bit of patience to assemble. Directions included are thorough and clear. I've noticed that food defrosts quicker than in just plain ziploc double zipper bags. We have used it for vacuum sealing meat, homemade dog food, fruit, and bread for freezing. ... show more

    • Easy to use - good product but not for me
I am a semi-pro for how often I use vacuum sealers because I prep, portion, seal & freeze a lot of our food to be able to make our budget stretch further. I didn't really care for this machine but it's mainly a personal preference, not that it's a bad machine or anything. Pros: extra foam seal/replacement, it's easy to clean with the removeable tray & I love the attached plastic tabs to line up the bag, comes with a good amount of bags & a continuous roll, I like all the different settings & the explanations of food examples, the instructions are really good & easy to follow, the cutter is 2 sided, I like that it has a removable cord and I love the storage compartment inside. I also like that it beeps when it's done so I know I can remove the bag. It works well & seals solidly and vacuums tightly. Cons: the button instructions on the quick guide are incorrect - it says to press on/off, then the mode you want, then on/off - this doesn't work, it's just the mode and then on/off. It takes a long time for the whole process & it's pretty noisy throughout almost the whole thing (took more than a minute to vacuum & seal a foil wrapped piece of salmon). The design doesn't have any way to secure the lid like most other sealers, it just closes. My biggest personal complaints are that it doesn't have an extra moist mode and you can't stop the vacuum to quick seal (if it's getting too juicy and vacuuming too much). In my opinion, it vacuums a little too much & too well. I seal mostly moist, sometimes really moist food so this is a major deal breaker. On my other sealer I can prematurely stop the vacuum and quick switch to seal, but this machine loses its seal & lets air in if you stop it. The cutter is hard for me to use because you have to pull the bag tight for the blade to bite in and cut so it's hard to get the sealed/unsealed bag in a good position - it's in an awkward location & position. It's a little large because of the storage compartment so it's less convenient to store. I like the digital timer, but I would have much preferred a count down because it just keeps counting up and you have no idea how long it's gonna take. Overall, good machine with great features but doesn't meet my needs. For the high price point, I expected more. My favorite sealer is also off-brand and it was 1/3 of this price and it works just as well but does exactly what I need it to do. ... show more

I like that it is a complete set that comes with everything you need to get started and how there are different buttons you can use that make it easy to get different jobs done.
