My journey to discovering the Hanycony 12 Plug Power Strip with USB began with a mishap involving another purchase. I initially bought a "Smart" power strip, which promised the ability to control devices via an Android tablet. Although the concept seemed fascinating, I forgot about this feature and simply used it as a basic power strip for two months. When I finally tried the "Smart" functionality, I was shocked (no pun intended) to find that it required invasive software that collected and transmitted sensitive data to third parties. No, thank you! With a sigh of disappointment, I returned the "smart" product to Amazon and embarked on a quest to find a more straightforward power strip with ample connections and USB ports. As fate would have it, I stumbled upon the Hanycony 12 Plug Power Strip with USB during a "Lightning Sale," and it checked all the right boxes. It had 12 outlets, a 5-foot braided power cable, 4 USB Type-A ports, well-spaced outlets, surge protection, and most importantly, no intrusive features. Still craving some "smart" functionality, I purchased 4 Govee Dual Smart Outlets, a brand I've trusted for other products/needs, and they fit perfectly with this power strip – a divine pairing indeed. Thanks to the spacious design of the outlets, I managed to fit an additional 8 smart outlets on top of the strip. Controlling various devices in my computer area has never been easier, with an Android tablet screen serving as my command center. Though the power strip has been a game-changer, it's not without its minor shortcomings. For instance, it uses USB 1.0 ports instead of the more current USB 3.0 and lacks USB-C ports. These are trivial concerns, as I rarely use the USB ports in the first place. Additionally, I spotted a small burn mark on one outlet upon unboxing, but it didn't impact the functionality. Lastly, the absence of proper mounting brackets was a bit concerning, given my power strip's location atop a 6-foot cabinet. I've made do with using clamps for stability. The Hanycony 12 Plug Power Strip with USB is a fantastic option for anyone seeking a basic power strip that packs a punch in a compact space. It has been a reliable companion in managing my myriad of devices, and I appreciate the added surge protection for peace of mind. Everything about this thing is good. At about 7.75"L x 3.75"W x 1.5"H, it has 12 grounded outlets--six on the top and three on each of the long sides--with sufficient space between to plug and unplug without a battle. The nice 10-foot cord is covered in fabric, with a ¾"-high flat plug. The on-off toggle switch is on one end beside the cord; the other end has two USB-A and two USB-C ports. Simple and sensible design for function--none of that "how come they did it that way"? It’s also wall-mountable with two holes that are about ¼” the widest. The listing says it’s surge-protected to 9000 joules. I’m not testing that. Not here. Another plus is that it’s matte white, doesn’t absorb light, and is that much easier to operate bc it’s so visible. For us fools who plug things in and walk away without hitting the power button, the top surface has a green light that goes on with the on-switch. Thank you! (Make sure you double-check for that light!) I’ve being using this every day since August 2023, and haven’t had any problems or annoyances. I like it a lot, and recommend it for normal stuff in the house. This may be of no use to anyone anywhere, but I’m including a photo of the underneath panel. ... show more
