🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Kasa power strip generally receives positive reviews, with users appreciating its individual switch for each plug that can also be controlled through Alexa. Customers also find the product handy for controlling lights and for usage in hard-to-reach places. However, some users have faced issues with intermittent loss of contact with the app and a shorter cord length than desired.

Pros

  • 🔌 Individual switch on each plug assists in separate control.
  • 💡 Can be used to automatically time lighting, especially for those who are often away or have hard-to-reach outlets.
  • 📱 Compatible with Alexa for effortless control.
  • 🎄 Great for powering holiday displays.

Cons

  • 🔀 Sometimes loses contact with the companion app, requiring physical resetting.
  • 📏 Cord length is somewhat short, limiting its placement.

Should I Buy It?

With its practical features like individual switch control and Alexa compatibility, the Kasa power strip could be a great addition to any home, especially for those who value automation and remote control or need to reach hard-to-place outlets. However, if cord length is a crucial factor for you, inspect the product specifications before buying. Concerns about occasional loss of app contact might be a potential issue but seem to be infrequent.

  • Love it
I honestly love this extension cord because it works through Wi-Fi and I can control my devices even if I am not in the house. There is a timer I can set it up. It works with Alexa. The insulation was pretty simple. The size and the shape are good and it actually looks nice. The cord is not very long but for what I needed works pretty good. It’s easy to use easy install and it’s worth it of the money. ... show more

  • Versatile Power Strip for Independent Device Control
This Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip is fantastic for managing multiple devices independently, all from one strip. As always, TP-Link devices are reliable, and this power strip integrates well with my Home Assistant system. The Kasa app makes managing automation's for the strip a breeze. If you have several devices that need individual control from a single location, this power strip is highly recommended. It works consistently and offers a trustworthy solution for smart home enthusiasts. ... show more

  • Easy setup
Works right out the box. Kasa app makes it very easy to get this smart power strip set up. Even if you don't read well, you can easily understand by looking at the photos. I also like to use this because you can voice control it from Alexa and Smart things.

  • Love these
I love these things, this is the 2nd one iv got and I use them for my reptile enclosures to put there lights on a schedule. They work great, do exactly what they’re suppose to do and they’re very customizable in the app. Also the surge protector or whatever it’s called? I think it saved my bearded dragons life one day. I got home and his basking bulb was out, I also noticed it was turned off in the app which just confused me.. so I thought maybe the bulb got loose or if it just for some reason didn’t turn on that day so I twisted the bulb in there a little more and turned it back on and sparks started flying everywhere, the outlet extender shut that light off and kept my dragon safe. Also it is completely silent unlike my other timed outlet extender. Highly recommend, really great quality product. ... show more

  • Works well ... nearly all of the time
This smart power strip continues to do what it's advertised to do ... 99.9% of the time. That 0.1% is the problem, but I'll get to that. It worked out of the box using the instructions provided. I downloaded the Kasa Smart app onto my phone, and after setup I was able to name and control the power strip's three outlets (I got the version with three outlets) independently, or combine two or all of them together into a group and control them at the same time. I can also control them with Google Home. It's advertised as also being compatible with Alexa, but I don't have anything with Alexa, so I can't test that firsthand. Each outlet also has a toggle button that allows the user to switch that outlet on or off manually, and each button has an LED that shows whether the outlet is currently supplying power to whatever's plugged into it. This is a bigger deal than one might think at first. Imagine a desk lamp with a chain that can be pulled to turn it on or off, but you can't tell by just looking at it whether that pull-chain switch is on or off. Now imagine that you plug it into this power strip and it doesn't light up. Where's the problem – is the light bulb burned out? Is the lamp turned off? Is the power strip's outlet off? Well, I can eliminate the third question by just looking at this power strip and making sure that the outlet is on, so one pull of the lamp's chain will tell me whether the light bulb is burned out or not. The thing is, occasionally the power strip will just suddenly stop responding to the network. I don't know what causes this, but it will suddenly and silently disconnect; its power light and connection light will say that it's powered and connected to wi-fi, but the app says it can't contact the device. I can still manually toggle the outlets on and off with the buttons, but I can't control it with the app, or Google Home, etc. I can unplug the device and plug it back in, resetting it, and things work again. But I never know when it's going to glitch again, and that unreliability is what gives this device four stars instead of five for me. It doesn't happen every day – it's been weeks since the last time it happened, in fact – but not knowing what caused it or when it's going to happen again adds just enough uncertainty that I can't quite trust it. I'm not going to plug anything into it that might be disastrous if it couldn't be controlled. Very well designed other than that shadow of unreliability. ... show more

  • Love these!
I have a total of 22 Kasa outlets throughout my house, nine of which are these power strips. They are incredibly easy to set up and the ability to create independent schedules for each outlet is a game-changer. I have a variety of different lights and decorations plugged into the outlets and I love that I can either have them all turn on/off on schedules or I can manually turn them on/off with the easy-to-use app. The added bonus of the USB ports is just the cherry on top. Using Kasa products to plug all of my holiday decorations into means all of my holiday cheer is scheduled and I don’t have to run around the house turning things on and off. Like it said, it’s a game-changer. ... show more
