The kite shows no signs of wear after flying it several hours a day for a week. When there is wind it flies with a lot of action, and it's shape and shadow are raptorish. I don't see any squirrels, and not many jays, when it's windy. When there is no wind it hangs with painted side up. The telescoping pole is also well made. The only issue is that sometimes, after being up for some hours in the wind, the pole will collapse (telescope) down on it's own. I suppose I should jam the tapered joints tighter when I set it up, but I don't want to struggle with it when I take it down. ... show more

I have two bird scarer kites that I installed on our dock on a small lake. It is the first thing that has worked to keep the ducks off the dock. I have learned by trial and error how to install the kites so that they work. I bought 1/2 inch brackets that I nailed on the side of the dock to hold up the pole. To keep it from slipping through the brackets, there is a hole at the end of the pole that I put a nail through to keep it in place. The string had to be raised considerably to work. There were some major twists and tangles before I figured it out. While I was on vacation shortly after installing the kites, the neighbors kept them flying. I had to repair one of the kites where the fabric wore through, but it was an easy fix. I have ordered a third kite for a dock that sits farther out in the lake. Three neighbors already had the kites when I bought mine. Two other neighbors now have them. ... show more

Cheap material didn't even last 3 months. Both kites were continually wrapped around poles. Prop sticks don't fit tightly, they've fallen out several times.

Flies great as a kite. Pigeons are not scared at all, unless the kite is flying into them. Waste of money. Fiber glass rod broke after 4 months.

I was having problems with starlings and jays until I put up this kite. It's well designed and deters the problem birds. Evidently in response to other customers' earlier comments, the manufacturer has installed stronger string with swivels on both ends. Plus, kids enjoy watching the kite!

This product may have been good in theory but the execution did not live up to the advertisement. If you don't have sufficient or consistent wind, this Hawk flies exactly like a kite, side to side then crashes when the wind dies down. I shorten the string so the Hawk wouldn't hit the ground but the stick that hold the kite together wore through the kite material and fell out after flopping around in the inconsistent wind. I went through 2 Hawk kites in one month. Disappointed in the product is an understatment and I wasted some cash on top of it. Don't waste your money on this product! ... show more
