Biofreeze is excellent smells good works good but I’ve also found two kinds of horse liniment that are exceptional. They last longer smell good and help ease the pain with the problem plus they cost less. I will probably continue to buy bio freeze.     • Compare to "Mineral Ice"
This product can be compared with "Mineral Ice", IMO. Like Mineral Ice, it has the same "cooling" sensation, and after you rub it on, there is a "warming" sensation that lasts for awhile. It doesn't stain your clothing, and it is non-greasy. There is a pleasant, menthol fragrance with both products. Biofreeze contains ILEX - Mineral Ice does not. However, I don't feel one product works better than the other. To me, they produce the same results. I purchased the Biofreeze recently because I am a crocheter & knitter, and I have a bit of arthritis in one hand at the base of my middle finger. After rubbing in the Biofreeze, if I raise my hand near my face, I can still smell the menthol for awhile. However, if I rub it on my body where it gets covered with clothing (such as my lower back), I haven't noticed the menthol smell, nor has anyone in my family mentioned it. Biofreeze costs a bit less than Mineral Ice. Also, Mineral Ice DOES have an expiration date. Biofreeze does not, but I don't know if that means anything. I deducted one star because I don't "love" the product, but I like it. Would I recommend it? I would tell you to try it for yourself and see if it works for you. However, if someone came along and told me something else works better, I would be open to trying their product. I can't say that my pain goes away entirely when using Biofreeze. I think the "warming' sensation gives a sense of comfort, which lessens the pain, but it doesn't take care of the pain completely. ... show more
