I have a number of Black and Decker battery-operated yard work products and have been extremely satisfied with the ease of use and performance. This product, however, misses the mark completely and has me rethinking further purchases. First, why would B&D include a small 2.0 AH battery with a product that is intended to be a high performance work horse. I invested in two extra 6.0 AH batteries (not B&D brand) and was still disappointed in the length of runtime and the tendency for the blower to repeatedly cut out when the battery was getting low. I love Black and Decker products which is buy I bought this blower,I like that it's lightweight and simple to use,not excessively loud. But I need a longer battery life! I barely got a third of the way through a simple leaf clean up before it ran out of juice. Disappointed but now I'm stuck with it.

I bought this because I thought I had B&D batteries. My mistake as I have Worx products, same colors... So I later bought the Worx blower. Now granted I have 4 mah batteries for the Worx as opposed to the 2 for this but the battery life on high is absurdly low with this thing. Granted the performance might be about 10% better but at one point I took both out, one in each hand. With double the battery size I'd expect about 2x the blowing time but its more like 4x with the Worx. So with both in my hands I started blowing. I could tell the B&D had slightly more power, both blowers on high, but within a few minutes the B&D was sitting in a leaf pile that the Worx was creating. Its so poor with the B&D that I feel rushed... like, oh man, I better make every second count! When I started using the Worx my feelings were more like, how is it still working, its been 7 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes... 30 minutes and maybe more. It lasts so long that I lost track. With the B&D I get maybe 10 if I'm lucky. ... show more

I really like this lightweight blower. BUT, the battery life is terrible. I mean TERRIBLE. I have a Black and Decker drill with the exact same battery charger, so I keep that one out as a backup. NEITHER battery charger will allow me to use the blower for more than 3-5 minutes at a time. I can't even get my small patio and my parking pad blow off. It takes me two hours of recharging to get the whole back pads blown off and about an hour to get the front-drive and walk-way blown off. Unless Black and Decker improves their battery charger or their batteries for the handheld, I will go to another company to buy my next blower. ... show more

I recently made contact with Black and Decker and found them very understanding with my problem. They are working to resolve my issue. Previous: I love how light it is as I am 71 and find it hard to use a gas powered leaf blower. This thing blows at 2 speeds, and both of them are exactly what I needed for grass or to get into small areas where I don't want debris swirling around because I don't know what I'm doing.
