This can is perfect; just what I was looking for and needed. I am organizing my shed and in one corner I have an accumulation of shovels, rakes, sledge hammers, brooms, etc. all shoved into one corner. I ordered this beautiful 31 gallon metal can and put EVERYTHING that was in that corner inside the can. I love the lid but I put it aside because it isn't needed. The can holds everything, with room for more . It is now so nice to go inside the shed, go to the metal can and pull out whatever tool I need. All so neatly organized. Thank you. I ordered 4 trash cans and received two in good shape and two that were damaged. I took pictures as soon as they arrived damaged and filed a claim with Amazon. Unfortunately Behrens is an outside vendor so Amazon can or will do nothing. Amazon will not even consider dropping this vendor based on the number of bad reviews. Behrens insists that I pay the postage to send them back their trash cans for a refund instead of sending me a shipping label like honorable companies typically do. Galvanized steel is hard to bend. I strongly suspect Behrens shipped two damaged cans from the factory knowing that the customer may not want to pay the shipping, which solves their problem as to what to do with damaged product. ... show more

    • having tried several others hands down these are THE BEST!
over the past year have tried a variety of can types. first tried to go with a less expensive, under $20, hard plastic can. terrible, those fall over constantly and the lids barely stay on when warm let alone cold. the next type went with a different style but same material and same problems. then went and spent $40 on a much better 'soft' plastic trash can. no issues with that one at all other than it costs so much and that was without a lid. then two weeks ago after searching the nearby fields for our plastic cans decided to try something different, old school metal cans. I wasn't sure what to expect but was VERY pleased once they arrived and i saw what i was getting. very good quality steel can. a flat bottom with just enough weight so it won't go flying off or fall over in the wind. back to the quality i would not be surprised to have these new cans of ours last a decade or more. unlike plastic or rubber it won't degrade over time. the handles are welded to the can but are made so that they pivot for you when lifting. if you get a dent in a can or lid it pops out easily like new. i will never waste another dime on other types of garbage cans. of the four types tried these are by far the best! ... show more

These cans by Behrens could only be better than they are if they were a bit larger than 31 gallons; they have an awesome locking lid (that I initially did not think I would like), but can only realistically hold one full large trash bag. Come on, Behrens…we would love it if you could PLEASE make a larger size, like 50 gallons! These cans are sturdy and well made; each will last a very long time, folks! This is literally the best trash can on the market currently…and especially if you have wild animals or rodents who will raid/eat through the plastic ones. I have bought eight cans so far, and my plans are to add 2-4 more! ... show more
