I had never done dip nails before (and maybe that's partially why i'm so impressed with this, since i have noting to compare to). In any case, I got this kit because 1. it takes so long for my home gel and acrylic polish to dry (even with a dry lamp) and I was sick of having smudges on my nails because of it; and 2. my nail polish never stays on for long, no matter what brands or base/top coats I try (I work in a hospital so am constantly washing my hands). This kit is DEFINITELY quick (almost instant!) drying. It is also MUCH easier to get clean borders than with traditional polish, and it is suuuuper long lasting (nails in my photo have been done for 8 days). As other reviews have said, if this is your first time doing your own dip nails, I definitely recommend watching a quick tutorial video before using, but overall the kit has great instructions and is really easy to use once you get the hang of it. Really cute color selection (and apparently the Beetles brand also sells additional color palettes, which I definitely plan to try). I've only used it twice now but people have been asking me where I get my nails done! The only downsides (honestly, more related to dip nail application in general than to the kit itself) are: - powder can get messy. even if you brush the nail off right over the container, some powder still ends up around the rest of the work space. BUT I found an easy solution (thanks youtube) is to just do your dip nails over a piece of printer paper to catch the dust, then when you're done you can just funnel the powder from the paper back into the container for easy clean up and to save powder (doing this saved more powder than i expected it to!) - Can be time consuming to smooth out the powder coat before applying top coat. Depending on how smoothly and quickly you dip after applying the base coat, you can end up with uneven clumps, and it can take a long time to smooth it out with a regular nail file before applying the top coat. The more I use the kit, I'm getting better at dipping more smoothly and therefore avoiding making big clumps to begin with, however there are still times when i have to file the powder surface down to make it look smoother. Another tip I saw from youtube was to get an electric nail file to save time with filing-- I just ordered a cheap electric file for $12 from walmart, so we'll see if it makes it quicker. As a beginner, I knew there would be learning curves. I have very weak nails and wanted something to let them have strength. So, I bought this one, with high hopes. The more I use this, the better looking my nails come out. It takes at least 20 minutes to complete. I noticed though they don't last very long though. Maybe a a day or so before some of them start chipping away. Still cheaper than going and getting my nails done. With all this being said, I'm between a 3 star and 4. It's worth trying. And is beginner friendly. Just doesn't last as long as I'd hoped. But you get a lot of product. ... show more

The colors are so bright and bold. Perfect for summer!! Incredibly easy to use! I usually get about a week and half out of each time I do my nails. It does take a little practice but once you figure it out its a great way to have your nails done at home for so much cheaper than going to the salon. I have bought a couple different kits from this particular company and the colors are always turn out great! Definitely something to try! ... show more

I am a mom to 7 kids and I don't have the time to sit down and use time consuming products. I also don't have the desire to pay tons of money at a salon and sacrifice time away from my family to get my nails done. So in the past I have tried different at home nail kit's to be able to save time, money and still get the "salon look" and that has the power to stay on my nails with everything I get into everyday. I have tried the gel polish in the store, also CND Shellac and drying it with the UV light and most recently I tried just plain old OPI from amazon and used the OPI fast drying topcoat. None of these stood the test of time, if they didn't smudge shortly after I got done painting them they would end up chipping and I would have awful looking nails. I would rather not paint my nails than have chipped nails. So I came across someone's facebook post last week and they were talking about dip powder at which time I decided to look into, a couple of youtube videos later I decided to purchase this product on Amazon. I received the product in the mail a couple of days ago, I just found the time last night to sit down and give it a try. It took me just one hour from start to finish to get done with my nails. There was no smudging, smearing, crinkling or any other damage done to the nails from not drying during the entire process. What I liked is that once you got the powder on and dried each layer it was dry no questions asked. Also let me just say you don't have to be a salon professional to use this product. This product is very easy to use, comes with great instruction's and all of the tools you need. Make sure that you follow the instructions and you will come out with a great SALON LOOK for a fraction of the cost. Plus with this kit you can do your nails and others many times. It doesn't take a lot of powder to do a whole set. They have a wonderful shine to them once you are complete and they feel very sturdy. Now to see how long they last........I will have to keep you updated on that. I would for sure buy this product as a gift and I will also continue to use this and probably eventually purchase other colors. ... show more
