We got this for my wife's elderly father with mobility problems. There are a few different versions of these bed rails out there. This one has some advantages over many of them. It was not difficult to assemble, requiring no tools to do so. Like most, it has a long U-shaped section that slips under the mattress, on top of the frame, to help support it and keep it upright. This one also includes a belt to secure it onto the bed frame on the other side. (The instruction sheet shows how it should be used to pull the U-section toward the other side frame, rather than the picture on the listing). It also has feet extending down to the floor for vertical support, and they have large rubber feet on their bases to prevent slippage. Better than many. With the mattress frame belt and these legs/feet adjusted right, it's very solid. There is a small detachable bag for storage of items, and a small rechargeable light that has a PIR sensor - so it will turn on if it detects someone in front of it and turn off after a reasonable delay. It uses a USB-C port to charge it. You need to remove it to charge - it is only held in by a couple of magnets, so that's easy. The little light feels pretty flimsy (unlike the rest of this device), but it's working fine right now. The actual frame is made from pretty heavy gauge steel and easily supports his weight - they rate it to 400 lb., which is about four of him! It's finished in black powder coat and looks quite professional. All in all, this is a solid, well-supported bed rail at a very reasonable price point. ... show more

This bed rail is very nice for grabbing onto to sit up in bed. The only problem is the suction cups are not that great and it makes it kind of loose on the floor. But with the real wedged into the bed it doesn't make much of a difference.

This rail was very easy for my nephew to put together and install on my bed. It was very easy to adjust the height to fit my bed and it just slips under your mattress and your done. It's exactly what I needed to help me get into bed, it's sturdy enough for me to use without bending or breaking.     • Easy instructions and assembly
When I first received this bed rail in a smallish box, I thought there was no way this bed rail would be as sturdy as I needed it to be. I am very happy to report that this bed rail is actually very stable and sturdy when installed correctly. The handles are easy to grasp, and the cushioning on the handles helps achieve a secure grip without slipping. The strap keeps the bed rail from sliding away from the bed with pressure. The adjustable height is handy in case my mother comes to visit and needs it on the thinner mattress in the guest bedroom. My bed doesn't have a box spring because it is on a platform. This makes the space the rail goes pretty low to the ground. I am able to adjust it that far while not compromising on the stability of the rail. The extras included in the kit are a small bag attachable to the mid-section of the top rail and a light that is magnetic. I didn't really get this rail for those, but they work fine. I prefer getting a walker organizer to put on the outside so that I can stow my laptop, medications, glasses, etc. securely on the same mid-section as this little bag. That is just what I personally find easier and prefer. I would order this bed rail again.     • Not as secure as I hoped
My dad is in his 80s and has needed a bed rail this past year. The one he was using before this did not have feet down to the ground and I thought this one might work better for him. Unfortunately, this one is easy to pull out of place. The feet do offer some security but only as an extra brace when pulling the bar towards a person lying on the bed, like if you are trying to use it to sit up. But if you grab it when sitting down or to stand up, the entire brace can pull out from under the mattress. This really needs a strap to help buckle it to the bed frame to make it safe. I thought about buying a separate tag along strap to use with this but the design of this rail just isn't ideal for it. I'd really suggest anyone looking for a bed rail to look for one which can be strapped to the bed frame, with anchor points on the rail itself that won't let the strap slide around when someone pulls on the rail and which has legs to the floor. Anything less is asking for trouble. ... show more

    • Excellent for the purpose
This is really nice. Basically i had a family member who had hernia surgery and could not get out of bed on their own. This worked like a charm. Also good for the elderly. Its works great and is fully adjustable. One cavoite though.....you have to have the right bed/frame. If you have a bed with a box spring your good to go. If you have a bed with a frame, the frame must be flat. You can't have a lip or something in-between. This goes between the mattress and something else. The something else must be a flat surface to sandwich the bar. ... show more
