  • Was easy to set up but a fox stole them
Item Package Quantity: 2
These are very easy to set up. I used nutella as bait. I only had them on my porch for two days before one of the disappeared. I thought maybe my bf moved it. Then a day or so later, 2nd one was missing. I checked the security camera and a fox came on the porch and took the entire trap. We have checked the camera after and the fox is doing just fine. So, the only negative is they aren't very heavy lol. I never caught anything in them but they were easy to use. ... show more

  • I catch them but they are not dead
Item Package Quantity: 4
These traps tempt the rats and mice but only kill them half the time. So then we have to deal with an injured but not quite dead animal. It was really bad when we caught two young squirrels. I wish the spring was stronger so the critters would be killed immediately and not suffer until we get to them. ... show more

  • Good rat trap!
Item Package Quantity: 4
I bought 2 of these traps last year to place around my chicken coop. They work great as long as you keep them freshly baited. One of them broke recently ( the hinges got rusty? I don't know ) so I ordered a few more, just for back up. A few days ago my husband was sitting out on our patio deck in the afternoon and literally watched a rat come out from around the decking and go snatch some dog food from the dog's bowl. Like 3 times in 10 minutes. I immediately baited up this trap with some peanut butter, no more dog food out after dusk and waited. Tonight I'm sitting at my desk about 15 feet away from my deck and I hear a clammering going on. Not my dogs.. they are in the house.. but they heard it too and came running. Checked it out and Rat in the trap! Success! ... show more

  • Works for chipmunks too
Item Package Quantity: 2
The battle ranges on and on here on our property. So many chipmunks, so few solutions. Given the right bait, this products has proven to be effective at elimination. Death is quick. I used to use electronic traps, but they don't work in the rain. I am not proud of this war, but I can't let them burrow near the foundation (letting water go where it's not supposed to go) and eat our vegetable. ... show more

  • Fantastic, if the rodent’s head is in the right spot
Item Package Quantity: 2
I have never written a review, but felt I needed to for this product. We have a few families of rats outside and they are being destructive. They chewed off all of my outdoor hanging lights, chewed though a bag of sand in the garage, almost chewed through the sealed plastic 5 gal bucket of bird seed. We were worried they’d start going for the wires in our car. We hated to kill them, but there’s nowhere for us to catch and release, and we didn’t want to use poison which can poison other animals and get into the ground water, so we got the traps. I liked the tunnel design so we wouldn’t injure larger nocturnal animals like the raccoons. The first catch went off without a problem. The rat was big and the trap snapped its neck. It was likely very fast and humane. No blood. You have to press the lever down again to release the rat (some reviewers complained about digging the rat out-yuck!). We dumped it in a plastic bag and into the trash. The second trap was different story though. Two small young rats managed to get into the tunnel. We think what happened was that the first one was too light to set off the trap and started to leave through the other side when the second rat came in and set off the trap. The first one ended up getting its lower back crushed while the second one was dead from getting its head crushed. It was awful because we went out and the first rat was screaming in pain with its hind quarters trapped and it’s head sticking out of the tunnel. It wasn’t going to die anytime soon and we couldn’t stand for it to be in so much pain, so my husband ended up cutting its head off with a kitchen knife. So traumatic for us! So, if you have large rats, this would be a good trap for you. It’s very easy and safe to bait and when it works, it’s a quick death for the rat and easy to dispose of the dead rat. For us, we’re going to try an open design without the tunnel and just place them where larger animals can’t get to them. ... show more

  • GREAT traps, VERY effective, but defective trap rec'd in second order
Item Package Quantity: 2
These work GREAT! Sooooooo much better than the ones without the "tunnel"...those did fine for mice, but rats often escaped with bait, or worse (imo), were only partially grabbed by the trap to end up thrashing around, squealing, dragging the trap, to die a prolonged and painful death or have to be killed manually when found still struggling to get free. Not enjoyable. I have yet to have this tunnel design fail, however. Rat is always dead, and humanely so. The powerful jaws always snap exactly over the neck. I've heard it happen, and not even a squeak. Instant death, even for adult rats. The "tunnel" design with the bait in the middle makes so much more sense, too: placement along walls naturally entices them to enter from either end. By the time nose gets to the bait to trigger it, rat is "committed" and can't steal the bait and back out to get away. VERY easy to dispose....unless you look at trash can when you do it, you'll never see it except sometimes the rump sticking out of the tunnel entrance (depends on rat size.) They are so much better that I recently reordered another pair of them. I wish I had a dozen (seasonal issue wherever I live; they get under the house.) Why only 3 stars when my description sounds like 5? Well, I'd deduct a half star only because this design makes cleaning the interior (to eliminate "dead rat" hormones which are an olfactory deterrent to other rats entering, so they end up going around instead of through) is more difficult than the basic trap. But mostly because one of this pair doesn't work. So for my small sampling of 4 traps, only 75% work. They come wrapped in clear packaging together. Nothing looked broken when removed, but the mechanism in one of them fails to "click" when pressing the lever down to set the trap. For $15 each, I need it to work. But in these days of COVID19 home quarantine, it's not worth the trouble to get it packed up for return. My printer isn't working to print a label for pickup, and I really don't want to drive to Kohl's---normally a nice alternative, but I don't think they're open even if I did want to go down there and possibly be exposed to COVID, being at high risk for severe probs with that. ... show more
