I purchased the 50lb weights. The handles are thinner than my existing hex weights, it doesn’t bother me, just noticed that my 40s have a thicker handle. Upon arrival, there was yellow residue on the bubble wrap, but not on the weights themselves. As expected there was a strong rubber smell, but after a quick wipe down I can barely smell anything at all. There is some slight damage to one of them but it doesn’t affect the weight or anything, it’s only a cosmetic issue. I’m very satisfied with the evenness in weight, the pair weigh exactly the same according to my scale. Definitely recommend for the at-home-gym rat. ... show more

These are TERRIBLE dumbbells. They are poorly manufactured and evidently have little to no quality control. A dangerous combination for weights that are designed for working out. Due to some sort of manufacturing defect, the handle broke off from one of the weight blocks on one of my dumbbells from this pair, and this happened at full extension on an incline chest press. I was extremely lucky that the weight block that fell off was the outer block and not the one that was being held at arm's length over my face. I managed to not get hurt by the weight falling off and I can only credit this incredible stroke of luck to divine intervention. These dumbbells, however, are very clearly poorly manufactured. You can even see in the broken area where the handle should be welded to the weight block and the surface should be all metal on metal contact, clearly something happened and rubber was able to get in between the handle and the weight block, causing separation and eventually causing the weight block to fall off of the dumbbell. I have tried to contact BalanceForm for support, but for 3 days they have not responded to my inquiry. I will never purchase BalanceForm products ever again and I suggest you do the same. Had I been holding this product in a slightly different way, this manufacturing defect would have left me with a life changing injury, or perhaps even killed me.
