Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Rain or shine, the MX4 provides confident cargo storage that’s complete with dual drain tubes to divert water away from the truck bed, as well as full perimeter seals to help protect against water intrusion. Finally, the MX4 can hold up to 400lbs of evenly distributed weight and is backed by a 5-year, hassle-free warranty. BAKFlip MX4 is proudly made in the USA with globally sourced materials with a US-based support team.

  • Great Purchase
This is my third BAK product and all have been great products. This one was extremely easy to install and looks great. New design has improved water leaking into the bed! Very pleased with it.

  • Second bakflip and we love it
This is the second time we got a bakflip cover for one of our trucks. We love it. Fits great, goes on easy, no significant leaks (but not perfectly water tight)

  • Quality, but not without issues
First the good. This is a quality piece that once I figured out the installation looks great and performs as it should. Now the bad, and my reason for only 4 stars. I have a 2024 Toyota Tundra. On the companies website, they advise for my model number that the factory tie down racks will be relocated lower and still usable. I watched the factory instal video for my truck on YouTube which also showed this. However, Amazon stated in the listing that the factory rail system could not be used after installation. I would like to use the rail system if possible but some previous reviews advised that they received the kit that relocated the rail system while others advised they did not. Both are the same model number by the way. I even chatted with Katie C. at the factory who advised the Tundra rail system would be relocated with my kit. When the cover arrived I followed the video installation and removed my factory rails, only to find after some confusion that my kit uses the Tundra rail system for attaching the cover, therefore rendering the Tundra rail system unusable. Not a deal breaker but very upsetting after trying to confirm with the factory. Also, you have to mix and match some of the hardware to make the kit work on my Tundra. Included in the cover was weatherstripping for the front of the bed that was not even included in the written instructions but called for in the instal video. I removed it after installation because it caused the front of the cover to lift. It looks better without and still has a bunch of rubber material for weather resistance. Looks good now but was a pain to figure out with the conflicting information. This coming from someone who is mechanically inclined. ... show more

  • Easy to install. Fit great
I decided to buy this based on the YouTube video named "2023 Toyota Tundra Bed Cover BAKFLIP MX4" with the fit. Ensuring the rail system is still used (it moves down but is still very usable). Price is a little high but it is a quality product. The fit is good besides the section near the tailgate. Has a few gaps there. Its rained a few times here and no problem. ... show more

  • Product has changed and is not as good.
I’ve owned two of these now. A couple of years ago I bought my first and I couldn’t have been happier. It worked as it should with minimal water leakage and it looked great on the truck. Second time, a few weeks ago, I ordered my second and I’m disappointed. The quality seems cheaper, parts broken, bumpers falling off, etc. Also, every time I close my tail gate without opening the cover, it shifts the cover forward (no matter how tight it is clamped on the tracks). There is also a bow from the unsupported cover’s weight when the gate is open, causing the gate to hit it when closing. This was not the case in the older model. I emailed Bakflip support and didn’t hear back for two weeks. By then I’d made up my mind. I really loved this product but the recent changes in quality have this one set for return. Bummer. ... show more

  • Simply Brilliant
Bought my 2023 Tundra seven days before leaving on a planned camping trailer trip. Ordered this cover the very same day and it came in time to install with two days to spare. Small problem though: Although the shipping box was entirely un-damaged, the very first piece that I came to upon opening the box didn't look right. It was the LH side-rail, the piece that all of the locking tabs engage. One end of this one piece is a section of the extruded aluminum channel with about 80mm left after the rest has been cut away, forming a flat, overlapping projection that lives in the vicinity of the juncture of the bed side and front. This LH piece had that 80mm or so of flat aluminum bent at more than a 90° angle. The RH side piece was perfectly flat and true. I knew that I could probably straighten out that bent end, maybe without actually breaking it off altogether but you know what it's like to bend, and re-bend thin aluminum. You can usually bend it once, even sometimes fairly extremely, but the odds of straightening it back out without seriously compromising the strength of the piece aren't great. I was able to get it fairly straight by securing one end of the piece with a real big crescent wrench while gently working with wide jawed pair of parallel pliers. When it was straight there were definitely small cracks faintly showing up on the surfaces but it was solid enough. After taking a lot of pictures to document what I'd found and done, I continued to install the cover. What a joy. Except for the fact that some of the pieces were really heavy and somewhat awkward for me to do by myself I got it done in about 90 minutes. I hadn't done enough research prior to starting this to realize that the very first instruction to "remove the existing inside bed rails, if present" was not a catastrophe. Oh crap, I thought, one of the things I've always loved about my two previous Toyota pickups was the fact that this really cool rail system was built in. I needn't have worried, as the rails are re-installed in a slightly lower position using some really nicely made bits of engineering. The hardest part of the whole installation for me was trying to get the drain tubes to fit in the existing holes in the Tundra's bed. This cover, in use, is fantastic. It sits very low, hardly visible above the sides of the bed at all. It opens, closes, folds up into several different useful configurations and when the truck is locked, the tailgate is too so there is no really easy way to simply pop it open. I wouldn't leave wads of cash in it out on the street but for camping, shopping and general outdoors use it is the bomb. Almost entirely dry inside even during and after monsoon-type rainstorms we've had here on the East coast recently. I called the manufacturer and after a brief description of what had happened I sent them some photos and in a week they delivered a big package with both LH and RH side rails. Great customer service. ... show more
