Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Rain or shine, the MX4 provides confident cargo storage that’s complete with dual drain tubes to divert water away from the truck bed, as well as full perimeter seals to help protect against water intrusion. Finally, the MX4 can hold up to 400lbs of evenly distributed weight and is backed by a 5-year, hassle-free warranty. BAKFlip MX4 is proudly made in the USA with globally sourced materials with a US-based support team.

  • Easy 2nd Installation
Style: BAKFlip F1 Size: 5' 7" Bed
I purchased one of these for my 2016 Tundra, so when I purchased my 2024, I purposely avoided buying a cover, using the expense for other upgrades, as I knew installing a BakFlip was easy and high quality. I’ve never had a leakage issue, the fit is perfect, and it looks great.

  • Security and coverage
Style: Revolver X4s Size: 5' 7" Bed
A great looking cover that is durable and easy to use. It will install easily with another person, but I did it by myself with the cover having some weight to it. Fits, locks, rolls up easily, and protects stowed items. Minimal leakage at the gags on the sides of the tailgate. The little flaps at the end of the rails are a bit concerning as these may not stay attached. So far, one came off, but it was quickly reattached and hasn't come off again. It has worked well for me and I'm glad I have it. ... show more

  • Quality, but not without issues
Style: BAKFlip MX4 Size: 5' 7" Bed
First the good. This is a quality piece that once I figured out the installation looks great and performs as it should. Now the bad, and my reason for only 4 stars. I have a 2024 Toyota Tundra. On the companies website, they advise for my model number that the factory tie down racks will be relocated lower and still usable. I watched the factory instal video for my truck on YouTube which also showed this. However, Amazon stated in the listing that the factory rail system could not be used after installation. I would like to use the rail system if possible but some previous reviews advised that they received the kit that relocated the rail system while others advised they did not. Both are the same model number by the way. I even chatted with Katie C. at the factory who advised the Tundra rail system would be relocated with my kit. When the cover arrived I followed the video installation and removed my factory rails, only to find after some confusion that my kit uses the Tundra rail system for attaching the cover, therefore rendering the Tundra rail system unusable. Not a deal breaker but very upsetting after trying to confirm with the factory. Also, you have to mix and match some of the hardware to make the kit work on my Tundra. Included in the cover was weatherstripping for the front of the bed that was not even included in the written instructions but called for in the instal video. I removed it after installation because it caused the front of the cover to lift. It looks better without and still has a bunch of rubber material for weather resistance. Looks good now but was a pain to figure out with the conflicting information. This coming from someone who is mechanically inclined. ... show more

  • Really like this cover
Style: Revolver X4s Size: 6' 7" Bed
The BAK Revolver 4S installed relatively easily on my '23 Tundra 6.5' bed. The shipping box is quite heavy though. It looks secure though no cover is truly secure. It does a good job of minimizing water in the bed but if you drive on dusty roads, the cover creates a vacuum space that sucks dust in past the tailgate. This is not the cover's fault. The tailgate needs a seal. There were a couple sharp edges at the rear of the side rails. I covered these with black tape. Otherwise, I thought the quality of the cover was appropriate to the price paid. I don't like the strap arrangement for travelling with the cover rolled up. It's a bit of a pain to get the straps plugged in and tightened. It does work though. The install instructions were a bit vague - could use an English major's eyes. Update June 2024: Two issues - both minor. First, if the closed cover is subjected to rain, then a freeze, you won't be able to open it. The feet on the cover freeze to the troughs in the side rails. Fix this by spraying a light coat of silicone on the troughs prior to freezing. Second, one of the little snap in corner covers disappeared on a trip. Think it probably popped loose when I closed the cover. Then it worked free and disappeared on the road. See Picture. ... show more

  • REVISED: Primary Rail Weatherstripping Peeling Off At Highway Speed. Cover Leaks.
Style: BAKFlip F1 Size: 5' 7" Bed
REVISED from 3 to 1 stars: This unit has been installed for less than 200 miles driving. The supposed weather stripping on the driver's side rail has peeled back about six inches. Given my issues below with this product, it is not a good start. It appears that there is little quality control with the BakFlip F1. Leaks, water intrusion at fold joints. Not even water resistant. As with most bed covers, there is no dust resistance. Dive on gravel and anything in the bed, under the cover will be filthy. Everything under the cover needs to be fully enclosed in some type of secondary protection. Customer service response to my initial issue, described below, was, essentially, OH WELL! We will give you free parts. Just remove and redo the installation. What more could you possible want? INITIAL REVIEW: As I only installed the BakFlip F1 yesterday, I don't have enough real-time experience with the actual product to rate and review anything other than the quality control of the Installation Instructions, their relation to the parts list, and their effect on the time it take to complete, undo, and re-complete what should be a straight forward install process. I purchased the BakFlip F1 for my 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited CrewMax with the Cargo Management System. It was well packaged and the product was in pristine condition. The Installation Sheet Part # 318S0073 Rev. 1-12-24 was included with the product. I checked the parts in the materials box against the Installation Sheet to ensure I had the required pieces before starting the install. All of the parts referenced were there, but there were four extra foam pieces not accounted for. I did not find this concerning as these kits are designed for multiple applications I proceeded with the install exactly as called for in the step-by-by step instructions. Essentially, the INITIAL install process was relatively simple, straight-forward. When completed, two significant to me and perhaps specific to the Tundra showed up. First, when viewing the completed installation from the bulkhead end, there was a gap extreme enough to see into the bed of the truck. I considered this to be a major leak point. I review the Installation Instructions to ensure I didn't miss a step. Nothing was apparent, so I accessed the RealTruck internet site for troubleshooting. Amazingly I found a more recent set of Installation Instructions Part # 318S0073 Rev. 3-12-24. More amazingly, the newer instructions showed the four foam pieces as REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION STEPS #1 and #2. Unfortunately, these parts did not seem fit for retrofitting a COMPLETED INSTALLATION. As noted in other reviews, a roll of foam weatherstripping came with the product. There is nothing to indicate what this weatherstripping is to be used for. Issue two involves the position of the bulkhead side of the rail clamp. Step 9/Step 11, depending on which revision you are using, state: "Position one clamp assembly 6-8 inches from the bulkhead ..." It is not illogical that one would position this clamp at 7 inches as I did. However, at 7 inches, the Cover Retainer Clamps must attach to the rail between the rail clamp and the bulkhead. Doing so leaves a gap between the bed cover and the tailgate. I would have been able to get a tailgate seal at either 6 OR 8 inches. I do not understand why RealTruck allows for a variance for the position of the bulkhead side rail clamp other than their manufacturing tolerances are not tight enough to ensure the retainer clamp rail on the underside of the bed cover is consistently in the same position or that there is up to two inches of slop in the cover folding joints. At any rate, there should be some forewarning that the tail gate seal will affect the position of this rail clamp. This issue is more a nuisance and time consumer than a significant issue. Everything else about this installation and final product appearance is 5-Star. It is a very good looking product and enhances the looks of the truck. I hope its performance is equally so. ... show more
